I was charged additional fees unfairly. The host claims I was smoking, but I don't smoke at all. It's giving they keep a lighter hidden in a place you'd never look so they can say it was yours. I have rented cars thru this app for just over a year. The hosts and cars are ok, but the CUSTOMER SERVICE is CRAP and they add on fees that really add up over time. Every customer services agent I've had the misfortune of dealing with spoke English as a second language which made communication a nightmare! I paid someone to take me to pick-up a car I'd rented before. When I got to the location the car was not there. My phone rang just as I pulled up to where the car should have been. It was GetAround notifying that the car was not availble! (you couldn't have called me before now?) The agent tracked the car and I was told it was about 20 min from where I was and that no other cars were available near me. The agent voided/reversed the reservation and the $256 I'd paid ($106 for using the car for the day plus $150 deposit) was IMMEDIATELY put back on my card. The agent advised I should search again for another suitable vehicle and start over with my reservation. I went back home, started over and low and behold...the car I'd reserved showed up in the results! Before booking it, I called GetAround to see if it was a mistake or if it was indeed available. I was told it was available, so I booked it...AGAIN. This time I called back TWICE before going to pick the car up. Each time I was told the car would be there, so I paid someone to take me to get the car...THE CAR WAS NOT THERE AGAIN. Called GetAround and spoke with an agent who in my opinion...spoke about as much English as I speak KLINGON! He canceled the second trip and in doing so...tied up $250 of my hard earned dollars for the next 10 days DESPITE ME REQUESTING that he MAKE SURE THE FUNDS WERE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO MY CARD! There're so much more blood curdling things that went wrong with this experience, but recalling these details is literally causing my blood pressure to rise and affecting my vision as I'm seeing red spots while I'm typing. It could be due to the MIND NUMBING hold music I've been listening to for the last 45 MINUTES while trying to speak with a supervisor. No need in your having to go thru what I'm going thru...learn from my mistakes...if at all possible, just DON'T DO IT! read more

let me lead by saying I rent cars a lot . we needed something last minute because our car broke down unexpectedly and we needed transportation like all human beings to get back and forth to work. Getaround was the company that made the most sense at the time . I haven't rented from them in at least two years . So we pick up the car at 9 pm. it was hard to see and raining so I wasn't able to see the full cleanliness or damages to the car as I would've been able to see what n the daylight . long story short we had to pull over and clean out the car we rented . I couldn't see out of the window as there wa some kind of oil or fluid all over the interior of it . we spent almost $700 for four days on that rental . when we turned it in , we soon after get a message saying that we owed a $10 cleaning fee . you've GoT to be kidding me !? I refuted , explained the above and asked for proof. They sent me a phot of the car floor which had the normal tracking of dirt as any normal car user would leave behind. I'm trying to refute they ignore me and simply kept sending me emails to remind me that it was due and that I needed to pay. To say the least , I did pay the fee but I will never use them again. There's no support or help for the drivers. I spoke to someone named Ingrid Dorothy from Getaround and she was completely detached from trying to make the situation fair. If I can give 0 stars I will. This company has allowed an owner to use their platform to scam people out of their money. They falsely accused me of damaging a car that was already damaged and has since charged me twice for the damages. I have sent in multiple videos and pictures to prove my case, but they refuse to consider my evidence and say it isn't the correct angle of the car when you can clearly see in the video which angle it was. They claimed to have sent a refund but I have yet to receive the refund. You can't contact the company unless you have an active rental with them. They are force-charging my account which I don't even have an active card connected to by using variations of their name to get pass the block. I will be taking legal action against this company and the owner. They need to start thoroughly screening the owners and make the owners give a thorough report of their cars with passed inspections and all before they allow them to use their platform to rent vehicles read more

I've been a host with this company for almost two years. My recommendation is to Stay Away. They will make every excuse not to pay claims when renters damages your car. Back in December The renters stole parts out of my vehicle all except the engine, myself and my entire family was fighting covid . So I missed reporting the damages by a few days. . GETAROUND's response? Covid or no Covis we don't care. We inspects our car as often as we can. Last week I file four claims for damages . Getaround Denied them all because they claim renters had reported the damages weeks ago. Do these look like the same damages? read more

I have 2 cars listed on get around it was 3 but the device constantly drained my battery to the point that I needed to replace the battery in my luxury vehicle. Get around finds every excuse to not pay your claims so your left with the damage from the renters. My car has been abandoned several times by renters and it's my responsibility to recover them at my own expense. I would not recommend this app as a host. read more

if I could give NO STARS, I would. Getaround is a scam that lures you in. I stopped using them 3 years ago and seen that the program was "updated" so I decided to give it a try. my first rental was fine, easy to get no issues so I was hopeful things turned around... but when I tried to get another car ..that's when I realized that these ppl really don't care they just want money. I spent $200 to get a rental today, the owner message me saying it's not available so I had to cancel the reservations. my pickup was at 5pm so I cancelled because it stated that I wouldn't get my full refund if i cancel when the time for pickup become active. so I cancelled to get a refund because THE OWNER DIDNT HAVE THE CAR I BOOKED and they tell me, since I cancelled I have to wait 3-5 days for my money back and then says they will give me a $50 credit (you can't even book a car with $50 so they wanted me to spend more money bc that's all they care about. the CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS AND THEY ARE ROBOTS ...i asked other questions and the lady couldn't even answer she just kept talking about the policy..."I specifically asked her how would she feel if this happened to her" and she just got quiet and stated we can't refund your money. I then asked for a manager and she tells me the "team lead" will have to call me back, why would a team lead call me back and why can't I be transferred to a real manager! I rented car from getaround with the hope of working with Uber. I worked for 30 days and that's it. I was told by getaround that I could continue to drives the same car as long as I bring it back for maintenance. When I returned it I haven't been able to secure another car. I am about to be homeless because Uber is the only job I have. Everytime I call to secure a car with getaround I'm told no cars available. I am so stressed out and mentally drained from dealing with these fools. I don't know what I'm going to do. read more

I was hesitant to list my car on this platform at first, primarily because the other app pays within 3 days and here they pay once a month! (At least for now) When I added up the amount of time that it was taking for me to personally deliver and retrieve my vehicle I saw that I was actually losing money because I was not able to work during those times and the difference is that the hours that I missed outweighed the time it took to drop off/pick up my vehicles. Awesome service! You need to know a bit about the city to make it worth while though. For instance, I only rent cars where there is free parking since I drive my personal car to the site. I picked a car in an unfamiliar part of the city once and almost paid $12 to park my car. Additionally, the customer service is impeccable. Ive had a minor issue with each rental (left something behind, flat tire, fuel not at full ) but the getaround reps are ALWAYS kind, patient, and competent. I love this new app for the most part. Car rental can be a hassle sometimes. With the getaround app all you need is a driver's license and a card to rent. They do a background check but it wasn't long for me. The cars are reasonable for the prices, by the hour or days. I highly recommend. Thanks getaround!! read more

So far so good, I've rented 2 vehicles and it was easy peasy and most importantly economical! Customer service is prompt and very helpful.

I had mixed feelings. I signed up with them to "Drive with UBER" and for the first week or so it was great. Then there were issues back to back with the cars and as a result I showed up 6 times in 1 week to pick up a car I paid for and the trip was cancelled last minute or the car wasn't there. I complained every day for a week straight because everyday there was some issue. I decided to stop trying to use the "Drive with uber" and just use the regular rental side to get a car. This was fine for a while then in more than one car it smelled like smoke or was dirty. I reported this and it was brushed off. I actually stated I will not be using their services anymore. The next week they BEGGED me to give them one more chance and gave a $20 promo code. After I paid over $100 in rentals that week the issues with the cars started again. I booked a car at 3:15pm. Went to get it for 4:00pm and at 3:56 I received an email saying the trip was cancelled. I was told my account is now on hold and under review for "security reasons" and I will have to wait 3-5 days for my refund. When I asked for a reason they stated as per their policy they don't have to give one. Some reps are great and they are available 24/7 but as far as how they conduct business they need to tighten up. Offering promocodes when there is an issue results in you spending MORE money than if they give you a refund. This is their "hustle." read more
