Roads are horrible, graves are overgrown, no one available to answer questions and loved ones not in their registry. Would not recommend

I live out of town and this place was recommended. I tried a different place first and after a…read morerude encounter. I decided to call. Initially they were nice and welcoming, professional even. I went with cremation and provided my own urn, which i was ok with. My biggest issue is how unorganized they became after I paid cash for the process and requested the urn to be shipped as quickly as possible. It's been over 2 weeks and now I have to hold a memorial with no remains. I still have not received a tracking number, and when I ask how it was shipped despite the near 200 dollar charge. This on top of the loss is infuriating. Thank God I won't ever have to deal with this place again. I really recommended you find another funeral home for your loved ones. I wish I had.

It's bad enough I had to deal with the death of my baby girl, now I'm dealing with unprofessionalism. My baby has been in their care for a month and just this week they decide to tell me that she wasn't cremated because of a incorrect permit(mind you I had to go up there. I had been calling and they kept telling me that they would call me back but never did). On top of the fact that today I FINALLY get to pick her cremains up (after the paperwork miraculously got turned in the day I went up there to see what was taking so long) and they are giving me the run around. Went to the Mcnichols location to be told that she wasn't there. Get to the East Grand Blvd location to be told they took her back west to the McNichols location. On top of the rudest employee there (Mr. Favors) being inconsiderate and just down right rude throughout this process. I can't even grieve properly because I've had to deal with constant failure to communicate with me and just really feeling like my babies remains meant nothing to them. I will NEVER CONSIDER THEM FOR BURIAL SERVICES.

It was like I had extended family helping with them. The funeral home is small compared to others but the personalized service and hospitality were top notch. Many grandma's service was lovely. The reverend and musician provided were very professional and on point. The parking lot is a little small but there's on street parking to accommodate. I would definitely recommend this place for an intimate gathering for a funeral or memorial service for a loved one. Extremely affordable and professional.

They made the process effortless including the move from the hospital, dealing with the insurance company, everything!!! They even changed my brother's earrings on the day of the viewing at the last minute. I've used other well known funeral homes and the personal service from Butler exceeds what was received from them. Their staff is professional and knowledgeable. The body was well prepared for the service. And the organist and soloist were excellent. I explained that I didn't want a sad song and they delivered. The family and those who attended were very impressed with Butler Funeral Home. You cannot be the value and the service received is exemplary. I would highly recommend Butler Funeral Home.

They were kind loving and respectful beyond words, qualities that are so appreciated and in need at a time when families are most vulnerable. Luckily, for a select few of my family members that have passed, the Mt. Olivet Cemetery is NOT one of those places. Admittedly, I hadn't been back to this location in probably 8 years. I don't have many family members buried there, and those who are buried there are members I was not as close to (either because they passed when I was young or before I was born, or because we were not close family members). Either way, I never remembered much about going out to this location. Maybe it's because I'm older now, or maybe it's because my older family members are starting their (hopefully) slow decent from the prime of their lives, but this is the first time I've ever truly paid attention to how this cemetery looks. Now, I was only there for about 45 minutes, but I think it was long enough to truly take in the location. First off, the grass was green and well kept, and the crypts were not dusty or dirty. Again, you may think that goes without saying, but unfortunately that is not always the case. The pavement, at least the roads I traveled, were free from potholes and graffiti as well. Lots of people I spoke with assumed that it would be a very bad cemetery due to the location in Detroit, but I did not find this to be the case. If you don't mind the hike, depending, of course, where you live in proximity to the cemetery, I think it's about as good as you can get in the Metro-Detroit area to have your final resting place - but let's hope that, for all of you reading this, that date is far away in the future.
