Previous attempts were met with 30-45min. wait times that a quick lunch break would never allow. This time, I got lucky with a quick in & out visit on a Friday during lunchtime. The store's an almost comical-surreal throwback to the old food co-op's from the 1970's (for all us grown folks that were part of that era). Like stepping back into a time machine. But, the wonderful smells from the deli hit me when I walked in, which was great and got the appetite juices flowing big time. A two meat cold cut sandwich w/ cheese will set you back $17, tax included. Which is about the ceiling of what I'm willing to pay currently for a similar take-out sandwich anyplace else. Adding that 2nd meat is what kicks the price up a few more bucks. A heated sandwich request adds .50c and extra meat is another $2 on top. Truth be told, most other deli's and sandwich shops have an equivalent option for slightly less $ it seems. Would be gravy if they threw in a can of generic soda pop (Shasta, Cragmont or the like) and maybe a mini bag of chips for this pricepoint, but whatever. Not a deal breaker. Sandwich was very good and they advertise using Boarhead brand meats. It's a winner, if not an everyday lunch option based on price. Check it.

Since prices are the same across all Walmarts in NorCal, I'm going to rate this based on aesthetics and in-store experiences. This is one of the first Walmart Markets to get the early-2020s airport-style "Time Well Spent" remodeling package, but specialized for smaller stores with the overhead signs made of horizontal foam boards instead of the vertical metal ones and less detailed backgrounds. The store looks much brighter and more inviting than it was before and it looks cleaner as well. I find the selection of groceries here larger than other WMNMs which is a plus, and it seems they are well stocked at most times. However, the area is a magnet for crime, I've seen cars being bipped, and there are seedy people hanging around at all times.

Despite having eight checkout lanes, they rarely have more than one or two open, resulting in consistently long lines. When I've asked management why so few registers are open, the responses have ranged from "the thingy isn't working" to "we're understaffed." They've been using the understaffing excuse for literally the past ten years, yet nothing ever changes. The manager is extremely unpleasant and unnecessarily rude. No pleasantries whatsoever so ever. Just barks excuses while she walks away. Be very careful with the produce. I've repeatedly found moldy fruits and vegetables on the shelves, and it's worth checking expiration dates on other items as well. The restrooms are also in poor condition, and the floors throughout the store are consistently dirty. The district manager should be ashamed. They obviously care more about cutting corners than the community that supports this business. There are much better grocery stores elsewhere.
