As much as I appreciated the former shop, a much needed addition to this tiny town, Harvest Moon has my attention now for the well-done upgrades including new floors, furniture and nods to local artists in the decor. It's a more serene atmosphere, still good for working, but without the overdone peripherals. The employees help make or break places and here they do a good job for the former. The coffee is better than some other places, although they need to work on making sure the water is hot and not room temperature with teas. That's my only, easily corrected ding for an otherwise good experience.

It's a cute little cabin off the side of the road and when you first walk in, you're greeting by tons of gorgeous pottery and a cute log cabin feel. I've been hoping to get a nice local Montana pottery mug and I found the perfect one here. There's a variety of kitchen items and little decorations- a little pricey but worth it. The woman who sold me the pottery was so nice and welcoming! Of course there's coffee and treats too. I had a pumpkin spice latte and the flavor was subtle but very good. This is a perfect spot to find a great gift or have a little treat after hiking.

The last several times we've gone (about once a week lately), the service declines even more. The apathy of the workers has reached a level that we're done with. They now don't greet you, just hand you cups without explanation, don't say "thanks for coming" or any engagement whatsoever. Oh, add to that the server this morning couldn't even remember two simple coffee orders so I had to repeat the second cup twice. The owner needs to take an interest and step up their hospitality training. There are too many other coffee shops between our house and this one that we've driven out of way to support for 5 years. I'll drive to Bozeman for coffee before I go back to Elk & Ember.

Fortunately for me, Cuppa Jo was perfect. It's hard to find this tiny building located as it is in front of the garage of big trucks, and being painted grey makes it blend into the surroundings. Because I was determined to get caffeine, I drove past it about three times. Although there's a drive up, I walked in and asked for the special. I'm not sure they had one, but the girl working that day recommended the white chocolate marshmallow latte. Her recommendation was perfect: enough caffeine to get the day started and enough flavor to make me miss the coffee taste. After drinking half the cup, my teeth were screaming for relief from the sweetness. I'm not sure if the buzz was from the caffeine or sugar, really. Despite that, it was well made, definitely addicting, and worth the extra drive-bys to find.
