I walked into Zocalo after a 3 day bender of a bachelor party, as I needed some alone time and caffeine to decompress. The barista was so mf kind, I wish I would have got her name. She genuinely asked me how my day was going and how I've liked Montana so far. Good people in here. I got my iced americano ($3.50) and walked upstairs and took in my surroundings: A huge skylight illuminates this place with natural light, local artists' work for sale litters the exposed brick walls, rustic floors, and ample seating both upstairs and downstairs. As my delicious americano slowly brought me back to life, I listened in on a young couple interacting as it seemed like a first date. It was so cute. You could tell homie was a little nervous as he was asking her about jobs and her work load in school. He stumbled around with a couple "that's crazy..." which I felt on a spiritual level. I think she was eating it up, but you never know. Man in the Arena. They had a picture of Anthony Bourdain in here as well, which really put Zocalo over the top for me. On our way to the north Entrance of Yellowstone and stopped by before jumping on the freeway! Highly recommend this place for their espresso drinks, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwich and bagels. Everything was quality ingredients, milk option galore for those lactose intolerant and sandwich and bagels tasted homemade. My family recommends this place!! read more

Quaint coffee shop in the heart of Bozeman. The town is much smaller than I thought but places like Zocalo have a lot of heart. The space features exposed brick, a second level, and large mirrors. This is a great, quiet place to grab a cup of coffee and get some work done. I had an Americano--great taste but not quite as hot as I'd like. The service was excellent--the barista was super nice and communicative. The space in back is very roomy and had power outlets for laptops and phones. I cranked out a bunch of work and looked around at surrounding tables where people had their heads down while enjoying a good coffee. Highly recommended. read more

I was looking for a good coffee shop in Bozeman and I came across this place, I don't know why but this place had mixed reviews although most of them were great there were a couple that said the service was bad, and the staff was pretentious and blah blah blah. I didn't find any of this to be true. Hey greeted me with a smile when I walked in and didn't give me any pretentious feelings what so ever. I didn't order anything fancy, I just got a dark roast with a little coconut syrup and cream and it was amazing. Coffee wasn't bitter, it was strong and tasted very fresh. It was so good that I went back a couple hours later before my flight and they remembered me and gave me a FREE refill! That is customer service for sure! If you give off a pisses off attitude you will get that in return this place is just "small" town Montana hospitality. A must go! read more

We found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It can be a little tricky to find it's in between two buildings. You walk in see the menu and you order. There's little tables along the wall and also towards the back. There's an upstairs you can go to. We got our coffee to go. It's pretty good quality beans. The quality and taste is there. It's probably the best in the area. The service was pretty good. Overall had a good experience and price was regular to other coffee spots. read more

Super cute place. Barista was really hustling and worked register and made drinks cheerfully! Fun menu with some delicious specialty drinks. Some beer and wine, too! I opted for a Scooby Snak: 2 shots, chocolate, chai and steamed milk. Excellent! In town two more days and will be back both of them. Highly recommended! read more

Great coffee shop! Seating is mostly 2-4 person tables, a countertop upstairs looking over the rest of the shop which is cool. Lots of cute crafts and art for sale on the shelves and walls, super cool concept! Latte was good, not too hot (which I liked but if you want a very hot latte, you may want to mention extra hot). Pumpkin bread was like a dessert, very sweet and tasty! Wi-Fi available, lots of people on laptops, reading, and chatting, great vibes. Zocalo offers some very smooth coffee. I ordered a flat white and it was done well. The coffee house has a coolness factor that makes you want to hang around. Rude service and potentially unsanitary. I live in Seattle and ordering and making my own lattes forever, so I know a thing or two on this topic. Even if it wasn't the case I am a paying customer and I deserve a respectful service at minimum as long as I was reasonable. I was hopeful when I saw the barista attending to the milk while frothing it and using a thermometer. However, when I got my latte, I took a sip and it was much hotter than what it was supposed to be. I figured I can wait a little bit, use the restroom to have it cool down a little bit. Unfortunately it didn't and by the time I was leaving the store it became basically an espresso with hot milk, no texture whatsoever. I kindly asked if they could make another one as it was too hot for my taste. The barista I spoke to who seems to be a lower rank than the other one turned to the other one and said "he says the milk is too hot!" The other barista acted as if I asked for something horrible. She extemely rudely took the cup from my hand and opened the cap with so much rush and anger (I was the only one in the store late afternoon, not like she was busy with other orders or anything) so much so that she spilled coffee on her hands. She dipped a thermometer to my latte. While we were all waiting in that awkward moment, on the third second it occurred to me that 1) I didn't have to prove myself 2) That latte had my saliva in it so dipping that thermometer in it is not the best practice. I got angry at that point as I can't take such attitude as a paying customer so I requested a refund. Among loud and angry-toned "I would happily make you another one" statements I got $4 of cash in refund banged to the counter so bad that she could have thrown the money to my face, it would feel the same... Thanks for ruining the entire Bozeman experience for me bu raising my blood pressure over nothing. You wouldn't make me another one "happily." Actions matter not the words. Keep treating your paying customers like this and you'll continue to stay in business. read more

We walked in and got our orders so quickly we didn't even have time to take in all of the fabulous art. There's an upstairs loft and it looks like a great place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Delicious coffee! I almost always get a regular plain latte and while it was very good I was envious of my BF's vanilla latte because the vanilla bean had a very nice, natural flavor and it wasn't too sweet. Nice little space upstairs to work on your laptop. They have 2 couches and a window upstairs, along with a few tables. I'd come back read more

I took my dad in a motorhome from Portland Or. to Bozeman MT. for his alumni homecoming game. It was EPIC! We are both from here so it was cool to be back after like 40 years! We got a ride downtown as we wanted to walk the streets and reminisce. It was F'n cold just as I remembered as a Kindergartner walking to Longfellow school with 8' High snow plow snowdrifts on the sidewalk in my buckle goulashes.... We made it down both sides of the street, past the building that housed my Moms "Mode O' Day" building from way back when.... Dad wanted coffee (and me a beer!) so we #"I" found a coffee shop that filled both needs! This one! He got a small coffee and I a local beer. Being from Portland I was not impressed but I wasn't going to spit it out either.... There wasn't anywhere to sit so we stood at the bar like a cowboy who needed to pee. I had to pee... where the F is the bathroom? Oh! There it is.... When I came out of the bathroom the sun was shining and the angels were singing. We got a place to sit right in the sunshine and we talked and talked and talked and talked.... I needed another beer but dad was still nursing just small coffee. 2nd beer still not impressed but hey, it's wet and cold. We talked and talked some more and the sun was setting. I got another beer and it was good. Then we went for pizza! (See other review) Had a great time here. Being from Portland it was nice to see that this place is inclusive of everyone's gender diversity etc etc. in other words "EVERYONE IS WELCOME" just as it should be. Love You Dad! read more

Phenomenal Montana coffee. Definitely stop here. Yelpers! This is THE hidden gem!!!!! Coffee tastes very fresh, smooth and just the right temperature. Excellent atmosphere, prime location, full of locals and they DEFINITELY took time to make my cappuccino perfect. Great little coffee shop! Last passed it by, had to convince my best friend and Bozeman native to try something new. Glad we did! The co-owner was working the front desk, he was super friendly! If you want a nice coffee shop, this is the place. It's spacious, the coffee is fresh, the music is nice and there's always local art on the walls. Zocalo is definitely a community meeting place. We visited Zocalo Coffee House back in July on our trip to Montana from Rhode Island. I ordered the Scooby Doo Dirty Chai, and it has been my favorite coffee/ chai beverage of all time! I've been trying to order something similar at all of the coffee shops I've been to since, but nothing comes close. This chai was the absolute best of all time! Cool hangout spot. Although all the couches people speak of are gone. Lot of desks and chairs to play board-games (they have quite a few) or work on a laptop. My big frustration here was the Wi-Fi. After wasting an hour trying use the shitty Wi-Fi, I figured out I needed to use Zocalo1 instead of Zocalo SSID. Of course, no one would tell you that or mention it anywhere. Overall, It's a cool artsy hangout spot, and I am glad it exists. read more

Coffee was ok... just couldn't stand the pretentiousness of the staff..... I was observing Covid protocols and while waiting for my friend to leave the bathroom I pulled down my mask to take a sip of my coffee.... I was immediately told to put my mask on by a barista... after finishing a sip about .5 seconds later.... hahaha.... little ridiculous and tries to duplicate a Brooklyn coffee shop instead of embracing the culture and character of Montana and Bozeman... will not be coming back for the overpriced coffee and attitude read more

I think for me they were a tad overly generous with the balsamic vinegar glaze which made the pizza quite salty. I would definitely order a pizza again but perhaps the Margherita or the Carnivore. The bison chili was a good standard bowl and the brussel sprouts while crispy was also very salty - I think it was definitely over dressed, but maybe since the majority of patrons were drinkin the salty foods would pair well. Seems like a fun place to hang out, but for me I'd probably pick anything that doesn't have glaze or soy sauce.

Feedback was there were only 5 on the plate. Definitely could use more. The bison patty met was perfectly cooked. A lot of folks overcook and dry out the bison. It was perfectly medium and juicy. Feedback would be a little char on the patty would be great. The service really tailed off in the end, it was not super busy and they had about 5 servers behind the bar. I sat there for at least 15 min until another bar tender asked if I wanted another brew and my server came about 5 to 10 later to attend to things.

When we entered, we noticed it was a small place, packed with a lot of people, but we loved the vibe, so we decided to stay. The bartenders were really nice. We enjoyed talking to them and learning about the area and the history of the brewery. They explained that they had been in business for about 24 years. Bozeman Brewery is one of those places that makes you feel welcome, and you want to go back. My favorite beer was their Plum Street Porter. No food but popcorn

His explanation was "that's our tab, if you decide you want another, bring the card up." We tried to explain that we didn't want another. We were only having one & we'd like to pay. He told us to hold on to the card & pay after we were done. We went out back to the permanent food truck and ordered Kels kryptonite, the pretzel & a chicken & Belgian waffle w/ hot honey. It took about 20min. While we waited, we sipped our beer and flipped these cards over looking for clues... then we took to Google... then we spied on other people. At our NEXT stop, the barkeep explained that by Montana law, there's a 3 pour limit & a lot of larger places uses cards to track pours (aha!) & a strict 8pm cut off for taps - which we came waaay too close to!

The beer we got from this brewery was Palisade which was a sour and fruited beer that we really liked ! The fruit that does it's work here is Guava and that usually works quite well in beer form! There is also sour, tart, fruity and a dry finish that all rolls together quite nicely. A great layout of flavor and not too sweet at all as some fruit beers encounter this which makes it seem more like Kool-Aid than anything else. Not a problem here at all!

Bridger Brewing is one more Montana brewery I got to check off my list in regards to breweries to…read moretry. The beer that I had from this brewery was called Lee Metcalf which was a Pale Ale. It seems like this beer is one of their flagship beers and it's a good one at that! Flavors to find and have a good time with are hoppy, citrusy and floral. The beer is smooth and light bodied which is great! Definitely a fitting summertime beer and especially so with some pizza !
