Dr. Castellanos is a a great eye doctor. The staff has good customer service as well.

If getting an eye exam feels like the Ludovico Experiment is being done to you, it's best to go an optometrist who has a large percentage of pediatric patients! I found Dr. Castellano through my insurance company's website for convenient location to me in Miami Lakes, and was able to set up a Saturday appointment. (Actually 2, since I couldn't get do the dilation on my first visit..) Both times, her and her staff were pleasant including breaking my appointment into two visits. Dr. Castellano is knowledgeable, taking the time to go over the procedure and why the (torturous to yours truly) different drops and gyrations to my eye are necessary. Her staff was also helpful in picking out glasses, including the option to combine a different lens and frame combination. As mentioned, a lot of her patients are of the pint-sized variety, which gives her a great attitude in examining a "30-plus year old" not fond of stuff near his eye..great chairside manner! The office itself is decorated white and minimalist and the equipment seems well maintained. There's parking under the first floor, as well as nearby street parking. We made the appointment with Dr Castellano and they confirmed our insurance. But when we arrived they charged us the $10 for co payment PLUS they FORCED us to pay an extra $35 for an eye photo that we didn't want, we didn't need and they didn't even share with us ( they were not able to send us the results via email, they asked us to take a picture of that photo with our cellphones... really?). When I arrived and they told us I asked not to do it but they said it was mandatory. At that point I didnt want to leave without the exam so I paid the extra $35. BUT WHAT THEY DO IT IS NOT RIGHT. Of course I decided to do the lenses in another place! BAD BUSINESS! read more

Dr. G had been my optometrist since before she started her practice. It's a shame that she has not been able to get the quality of office staff as she had in the beginning of the start of her practice. I sent emails, left message an not call back no email response. Shame on you Dr.G, so much for a caring Dr. I suggest not to even waist your time with Dr.G. I know of so many of her patients from day one that have left her practice it's not longer the caring practice that it once was. Shame on you. read more

I believe whenever Dr. Castellano is there it is a completely different experience. The first time I ever went, I already had a prescription and she accepted it. The only thing was that if the lenses were bad due to the prescription then I was out of luck, which makes perfect sense. I purchased my lenses and had a great chat with her and her tech throughout the process, truly exceptional first experience. I really like the fact that she explained the situation and let me make a choice and not tell me "oh sorry that's just our policy". Whenever she isn't there the manager acts like she is the owner of the business. She has no consideration nor patience to explain the situation, and just goes with her, "I'm the manager and this is the policy." Everyone else at her office is truly a pleasure to work with from the girl at the front desk to the doctor who handled my eye exam. read more

I feel really confident that I have found the best Optometrist in Miami Lakes. What amazed me was her knowledge and attention to details. The expanded hours are extremely accommodating in our hectic schedules. The office staff was really helpful with a quick check-in process and a true attention to making us feel very comfortable. I think they need to hire people who know how to make appointments I called Friday to reschedule my appointment and the girl tells me for Monday at 4:15 and 4:30 never told me the following week. Waste of my time. Then I get there and the front desk girls tells me the office is closed doesn't make any sense. Def won't go back either way super pricey read more

I came here because it was the closest to my house but this place is a rip-off. I came with AvMed insurance and when it became time to select a frame they open this draw with all these ugly cheap frames that they said the plan covered. In the meantime they had all the nice frames by sections on the wall. I have been to other optometrist with the same insurance and they have offered better selection. Obviously their purpose is to push you to buy a more expensive frame which is unethical and probably a violation of their contract with AVMED. read more

Dr. Castellanos has been our optometrist since she started her practice. She is very knowledgeable and professional. We made our appointment two days prior and she was able to work us into her Saturday schedule. I felt like she did a very thorough examination and really took the time with my husband whose vision has deteriorated within the last two years. She was genuinely concerned and kept examining him even more. I love her staff and friendly service. Her assistant really helped each one of us with our glass selection. Great glass selections. We got Ray Bans and Costas. Her office is in the heart of Miami lakes. Easily accessible from Palmetto expressway. read more

It isn't often that you find a doctor who is good with everyone in the family from young to old. Doctor Castellanos sees myself, my husband (who has horrible vision and has been through a slew of doctors in hopes of alleviating his frustrations), our teenage daughters and our 8 year old son. She is thorough and patient with each and every one. Once we realized how good she was with our little guy we decided to give her a try ourselves and it has been a wonderful experience each time we visit. My husband is relieved to keep surgery at bay since the doctor was able to figure out his perfect prescription without his eyes getting over tired and our little guy thinks visiting her is just so much fun (she has a treasure box for the kids when they complete their exam). Her office is clean and her staff patient and friendly. It is great to have a small, local office serve us rather than that crazy storefront type service. When it comes time to pick frames, an employee is there to help guide the way. We are happy to support this small business and highly recommend her for all your eye needs. read more

I have mixed opinions about this optometrist. I originally found Dr. Castellano through my insurance but under the company name 'Eye Candy Miami Lakes'. It drew me in as it seemed like a lavish and unusual eye place that offered a lot of brands that perhaps Visionworks wouldn't have. I made my appointment a few weeks before hand and was given an address different than the one I had for 'Eye Candy Miami Lakes'. I decided to go with it although I was bummed because I wanted the experience of the pictures I had seen online! I made sure to arrive early and ended up waiting around 15-20 minutes after my appointment time because there was some sort of office party going on. I let that go too, I wasn't in a hurry but it wasn't the most enjoyable or positive first impression. I wanted a specific brand of frames, 'Tiffany & Co' which was mentioned all over their website, the location I was at that day only had ONE. Although the staff seems friendly enough, I wouldn't come here again and I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend. read more

It's so hard to find a doctor in any field who genuinely cares about your betterment and financial position but Dr. Castellanos is the most considerate doctor I've ever had. She takes her time with you and then she and her staff help you arrange a way to make sure your vision is improved. The office is cutely decorated and they have a great, stylish selection of glasses and sunglasses from brands like Oakley and Ray Bans. I took my 11 year old for her eye exam. That day everything was great so I didn't mind the wait. When it came to sell me the glasses I basically paid like she didn't have insurance and they got her all excited about the fact that they don't break or whatever. I was told that the glasses would be back in no more than 2 weeks which I was ok with. But once the 2 weeks were up and no one called me I had to start calling to make sure she had them before school started. I did not receive the glasses until 3 weeks and 2 days later. There was no apology or anything of the sort. I will never go back here nor would I recommend them. They are over priced and the staff sucks. read more

I love Dr. Castellano. I have been going to her for a couple of years. She is amazing, but since she has expanded to Eye Candy her Infinite Office in Miami Lakes has gone down. I recently called to make an appointment and I need to pay 35.00 over the phone. Before I can make an appointment. I asked can I make my appointment and pay when I get there. I was told no. You pay now and I will give you the appointment. Never had any doctor asked for money up front before making an appointment. I understand some people cancel appointments or never show up, but why I pay over the phone. Why give a complete stranger my CC information. That is the first thing they earn is not to do is give out your CC information. Since, I was refused service for not paying over the phone floor something that has not happened. I will not be going back. It's sad. That Dr. Gianni ruined her practice this way. read more

I am very disappointed about my outcome after the visit. During the visit everything was great. Friendly staff and knowledgeable doctor. I went to get my eyes checked back in December, my glasses came on a timely manner ( about 1 week) but it is now April and they still have no idea were my contact lenses "trials"are. I have called several times. I am told that they have not arrived or that they are reordering. I just got off the phone with them this afternoon and I am still waiting for a call back. This has never happened before to me. I asked them to send my prescription by fax (which I am still waiting on) and I am going back to my old doctor, although they are not in my insurance group. read more

I never even made it to the office. I had an appoinment scheduled last month and was called last minute right before the appointment to reschedule. I was okay with that, but then I rescheduled it for this month and I had an emergency with my autistic child. I couldn't attend the appointment and I called to reschedule that morning and no one answered. When I had an opportunity at work I called back and they told me I would be charged to reschedule my appointment. The secretary insinuated I was lying. Amazing experience! Extremely professional yet friendly staff. Very accommodating. Best part was that the Dr. takes her time and explains in detail. Not only was she explicit but cared that I'm currently breastfeeding and was still able to treat me for my situation. Previous Dr. that I saw in Miamilakes didn't even do an exam & dismissed me of any medications when I explained I was breastfeeding, with no interest to further help me & I spent 2 weeks until I found this Dr. highly recommend for all ages! Worst OFFICE EVER.Never follows up with their patients orders. I was expecting to see Dr Castellanos and ended up seeing another doctor. I wasn't aware of. Anyhow he answered my questions, so I didn't say anything. I ordered and paid for my sons and daughters glasses on 7/21/18, however it is 10/8/18 and I still have not received the glasses my son. Apparently, they never received the glasses from wherever they order it from. I have only received my daughter glasses and that was only because I called to see if they were ready. They never call you. The manager is never at the office. Staff member don't seem to ever know what is going on. Last time, I went to the office since I wasn't getting anywhere resolving my issue over the phone, she wasn't there. I have ask for my money back 3 weeks ago and they still haven't given me it. They are just a bunch of thieves!!!!!! You are better off going to Walmart! read more
