First time I can remember ever entering this store. It appears well lighted and clean. We self checked out so there was no employee interaction. I've always found the prices at Giant to be a little bit above average. We did find some steaks on sale, however, because they were nearing expiration dates. Red peppers were also on sale. We picked up some mushrooms and some big bottles of V-8. Getting the V-8 was the reason for the shopping visit. It was on our way while we were heading northbound on York Road. My wife and I may shop here again, but it's not really our favorite store nor is it in our neighborhood. BTW: We were able to find a good handicap parking spot. read more

Scanning has a royal pain!! I scanned a soda and did not use a bag but the system weighs the order. It was a pop, I wasn't going to dash with a cart full of filet mignon, for crying out loud!! There a two ways to use debit, but no, I couldn't use the pad like I do else where. Whoever crafted this self checkout needs to improve the situation! read more

I returned 3 items and waited until 8:06 for someone to assist me. The first young lady was very friendly; however, she was not able to complete the transaction, Shawn, (the name listed on the receipt) assisted her, she was unfriendly and not informative, she completed the return, however, she said the transaction would go back to the card, I requested a gift card because I was purchasing 3 items, she repeated herself (the transaction will go back to the card) I said I no longer have the card, she processed the transaction as cash, handed me the cash through the lottery window, over the machine. I had 3 items to purchase and asked if I could pay for them at Customer Service, Shawn said you have to go to checkout, in disbelief I said I cannot pay for them here, she repeated (you have to go to checkout). I proceeded to self-checkout, Shawn came over and put the open/closed sign across the entrance in the self-checkout area, which would have been an easy exit for the scooter to exit. was there this morning between the hours of 9 and 11. got my shopping done and moved to self check out...the only line available. not good. finished ringing up my purchase. the self check out cashier decided to have a stand off to see who would speak first. odd. unprofessional. rude. i don't owe this cashier anything. I'm amazed how often when I go to this Giant, I can walk past a dozen employees and no one says hello, or can they help me. It's not that they're not friendly, they're completely friendly with each other. The gathering at a register to chat is a regular occurrence. I'm glad they'll have friends when customers stop coming there because the prices are too high and the employees attitudes so low. Wegmans' prices are mostly less for the same products. I only go there when I want to avoid the busier times at Wegmans. I'll be rethinking the cost of convenience. read more

No one at Customer Service for many, many minutes ... WAITING ... A worker wearing a protector apologizes to me and tries to assist (The only Plus here). Then, finally a rude woman wearing a silver nameplate, who is apparently a manager arrives after having passed me by twice without any comment. I inform her I've been waiting for a long time ... NO APOLOGY offered ... instead, lots of lip ... "I'm doing the best I can" ... then handles my purpose of being there. Who is this manager at this Giant that they hired? In an earlier review of the Cockeysville Giant (08/21/2024) I wrote about a man with a developmental disability who brings empty shopping carts from the parking lot back to the store. The man has loud phonic tics, and intermittently howls, grunts loudly, and shouts nonverbally, even if standing within an arm's length of a someone who is walking from the parking lot into the store, or who is leaving the store and walking back to their car in the parking. To my knowledge this man has never assaulted anyone, but his erratic shouts and howls can seem threatening, especially for someone with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or a related anxiety disorder. For the past few months, I have been shopping at grocery stores other than the Cockeysville Giant. Yesterday (03/25/2025) I returned to Cockeysville Giant for the first time in several months. I love Giant Hunt Valley! The personnel there consists of persons white and black. and they couldn't be nicer. They are polite, helpful and proud of the hard work they do every day. I'm 82 years old and shop there weekly and sometimes more often and am so pleased to be shopping in such a well-run organization. Jerrod at the customer Service counter could not have been more pleasant and helpful and I wanted to fill out the survey commending him but couldn't get the survey to work so please consider this as a testimonial to him. There is also a dark haired fellow maybe 30 years old that is a CSR as well who has been totally professional and extremely patient as I try to work through the flex point system. He also deserves much credit, The self checkout area has another wonderful service fellow that maybe doesn't look the part but he is a true asset to Giant doing a fantastic job and his name is Cameron. The wonderful, helpful CSR at the front desk is Alex, Also to mention the girls that deliver the call-in orders are also fantastic as well as the fellows working the carts, All-in-all you are doing a wonderful job hiring the right people. I drive from the city just to go to this grocery store, based on the fact that the prices are better, and they have self-checkout. They also have the scan-as-you-shop handheld which is nice if you are only getting a few things, but it makes me a little paranoid to use it because I feel like it looks like I'm stealing. Something about bagging your groceries as you go makes me feel awkward. The self-checkout can be a little annoying, particularly if it's crowded and the people that have no idea how the scanner works are clogging the line, and occasionally the machine acts up (such as when your item gets halfway down the belt, and then gets sent back for who knows what reason). However, I like the self checkout because you can buy more personal items without feeling so awkward. read more

I am underwhelmed by this Giant. I noticed that the shelf edge labels, which are designed to help the shopper figure out which of the same products from different manufacturers are a better value. However, this Giant uses them to confuse. Some of the labels give you the cost in gallons, and some in quarts for the exact same products. Pathmark in Connecticut was sued by the Attorney Generals office in the 80's for doing the same thing. Also, Giant stopped carrying my most favorite Makoto Honey Ginger salad dressing. I have to find it somewhere else. I'm glad that Wegman's is giving them a run for their money. read more

All meat is prepackaged in this store. Bought some pork chops that looked ok on top. Upon opening package at Home discovered chops on bottom were disgusting They were extremely fatty and grisly. Threw most of it away What a scam. Will never buy meat here again read more

I used to go there for ham salad. It was something I picked up regularly for a friend going through chemo. Nothing really tastes good to her now, and for some reason, this was all she wanted for a long time. For three weeks I couldn't get it, it wasn't on the shelves or in the back of the deli. Found some today, and picked it up. Took it home, she tried it and immediately got sick. I tried it to see, and it tastes awful. No way this is the same ham salad that they had before. I used to shop here before many things that I was buying turned out to have already been spoiled in their packages. They really need someone to get that store together it is a shame. read more
