I purchased seafood from here on 101423. The lobster tails and the crab legs were bad that I was sold by the seafood manager Amir. They replaced the crab legs but did not have any better tails to replace the lobster. I asked for my money back and was told it would not be returned. The sticker on the bag showed I brought it today on top of the fact that it is obvious that the tails are bad. I have given this store the benefit of the doubt for two years since I've lived in this area. There is obviously no direction in FIFO from the produce, to the seafood, and the meat, I have been pointing out spoiled items in every area of the store. This dusty filthy nasty giant should be shut down, this grocery store is supposed to be more value and less budget but every time I go here I purchase something old. First breakfast sausage 6 months old, and every single time I purchase pre sliced fruit it's fermented and tastes and smells awful, this is every single time. And I've come months apart never learning my lesson, but this last visit I'm done. No more will I solicit this store it's low class and poor quality. My hard earned money will never be spent here. Not the best Giant in the area, but not the worst. It is located inside of a plaza/town center, so carrying out a bunch of groceries can be tedious. Also, the parking lot can get a little congested and difficult for those walking out to their cars. As far as the store, at times, their lines can get pretty long, including the self-checkouts. The selection is pretty good and I usually find what I am looking for, with the exception of a few popular weekly sale items here and there. If I didn't live nearby, it would not be my first choice Giant, but it's super convenient. Look both ways when walking in and out and say hi to the security at the entrance :) read more

I go to this store fairly frequently because it's right on my way home from the College Park metro station. It's okay, but there are several things that irk me about this location: 1. the weird parking. For some reason, there are some random spaces made so they can only fill one car. This place always seems to be in the midst of some sort of mayhem, also. 2. No carts or baskets - ever. You have to go seek one out yourself, otherwise you may end up with nothing. They just can't ever keep the appropriate areas filled with them. 3. Excessive amount of self-check-out aisles. I hate these because I go here mostly to buy fruits and veggies and I feel like it takes me SO much longer than it would to just check out with a cashier. Otherwise .... the fruit section is pretty good, the vegetable section is hit-or-miss. They have a decent selection of frozen vegetarian options. The section called "health and beauty" is a farce because there was nothing beauty-related that I saw in there. They're also total teases because one time they had Newman's Ginger-O's, which are the most awesome, addictive sandwich cookie ever because it's like an oreo, except with gingersnaps. Whoever conceived of this was BRILLIANT (and I'm not being sarcastic). But now they either don't sell them anymore or they're just out. I can't begin to say how sad this makes me. Edit: I also have to mention the fact that almost every time I come here I get hit on. One time, some guy "suavely" offered to cook me jerk chicken (wow, marinade in a bottle and some frozen chicken thighs!!!). I've never been happier to be vegetarian. I didn't think this would be so huge but it is! The weird thing about this Giant is it's nestled in a shopping mall, so when you go through the entrance in the parking lot you end up in a mall and not a supermarket. But fear not, because a few dozen paces ahead is Giant. The name of the supermarket is fitting here because it's really freakin' big! I thought we had good supermarkets in MoCo but I must tip my hat to this store. Good produce selection, good everything selection really. The only bad things are that some aisles can be narrow and the checkout area is a madhouse. Way too few cashiers and it gets crowded easily. Other than that it's a good supermarket. read more

I want to give negative 5 stars! Sept 17th 2015. While speaking Russian with my visiting family, an employee at the Greenbelt #GiantFood Grocery store got into my fathers face and called him a "Bitch Ass Faggot!" for unknown reasons. I was worried he would punch my dad and got between them. I switched to English and asked him to repeat what he said, his reaction was "Oh, Shit! " and to run away. After waiting for 35 min at the store, Spoke to Scott Simms the general manager. He seemed eager to help and cared about the situation but seemed genuinely shocked and asked to call me at a later time. After several days of phone calls, he couldn't tell me what was being done about the employee but offered me $25 gift card, said his hands were tied. Gave me a number to his boss that sent me on a giant loop thru an automated system. I spoke to many rude and unapologetic employees, who didn't know Glenn and all told me it wasn't their department. His boss, Glenn Rutledge took another 2 - 3 weeks to contact me. Didn't sound like he cared about the situation. Completely ignored how the employees over the phone treated me. Had very mundane and general replies about my situation. I expressed my concern that the employee that i complained about might retaliate. Glenn told me i could be assured of my safety but would not tell me how. He the felt situation was handled smoothly and that $25 was sufficient. I told him financial compensation was not my concern. Again no apologies or taking responsibility from Glenn. Fed up, I asked Glenn to speak to his boss and consideration for a month worth of free groceries, not because free groceries would resolve this problem but because of all the trouble I was experiencing with the company, He told me he would call me back. Week 4: Glenn refused both. I was basically told I was being ridiculous. Initially, I didn't want any compensation, I just wanted a someone higher than the store manager to take responsibility, apologize, tell me it would not happen again, and make me feel wanted as their customer. This was a big fail on the companies part. Not shopping there again. Will never shop at this company again. read more

Lives up to the name. This is quite a large grocery store; one of the best-stocked I've seen in the area. Part of an ample shopping center with free parking (which you can't get right around the university, so this matters). Not much else to say; it gets the job done. read more

They don't keep you on hold on the phone for a long time and everytime I have filled a prescription they are never out of stock! TRASH!!! I went in today to get some catfish. When I got to the seafood department there was no one there! I waited for more than 10 minutes for someone to finally come out. No one did. So finally I just decided to leave. And the worst part is that employees from other departments saw me waiting and didn't even attempt to to try to get someone to help me out. A store manager walked rite by me and said/did nothing. I'm not the complaining type. But this experience annoyed me to my soul!! read more

This Giant is right across the street and some of the most friendliest people. It's like when Norm walks in the bar on Cheers. Cashiers may hold a conversation but they also keep it moving. Meat & Seafood department are great. Parking lot can be over crowded due to servicing Mall Patrons, College Students and local neighborhood but the best time to go is in the morning or night. read more

Other than that, the employees are very nice, and It isn't really packed(at least not at the times I've been there). This place is horribly understaffed. During peak times there are usually about 2 cashiers working (and only one working during off-hours). The self-checkout lanes are extremely slow since this place caters to a clientele that is often too stupid to know how to use them. read more

The Giant in Beltway Plaza used to be the only place I would purchase groceries from 2003-2007. In late 2007 they began to get greedy, sloppy and dirty in all aspects of the chain. Their parking lot, carts and bathrooms are dirty and old. They NEVER have carts available, the majority of the carts are broken in many places, old and dysfunctional. The wipes containers are always empty. They do not have fast cashiers and they never know what to do if there is a problem with a transaction. The self check outs are a joke - I end up wasting more time with SCO malfunction then to wait in line at the human check out. Over the last 4 years there have been improvements such as new flooring and jazzed up aisles, but not enough to warrant more than 2 stars. Not one employee can help you find, order or locate a product even when they ask you "did you find everything you were looking for today?" and you say no--do they care? NO. The produce looks good but it is way overpriced and not the best. Their standard products are not replenished often enough...I could go on and on. So I do not shop there as much, but go to different stores to make up for my needs. It is frustrating that even as you exit -- Giant has a problem with constantly having taxi's, trucks block your way when exiting to the parking lot. Also,, I am sick of the panhandler's and scammers. This is possibly the worst Giant I have ever been to. It is certainly the slowest. Whenever my husband or I go into this location, what should be a 30-60 minute trip tops turns into a 90 minute plus trip. It's frustrating but this is the most convenient location for us, but their speed at the register and their overall selection is often disappointing. It seems as though most times they don't have enough people on staff, and yet at times like before the blizzard of 2016, the registers were packed and it moved faster than it ever has. Count your pills before you leave the counter! Recently had a prescription transferred to the pharmacy @ Giant store #0316 Prescription is for generic form of Lovaza so bottles are very large. Later when I opened the bag I discovered the bottle was not the usual factory sealed container of 120 tablets it was supposed to be but a store supplied container that had less than half the amount the label on it called for. In short they gave me 56 tablets but their paper work said 120. Since I had left the store and had to return at a later date, I could not get the count corrected. I was out half of my months supply. I felt ripped off for more than half of my medicine which I had to buy at another pharmacy for full price as Giant Pharmacy of course told my insurance company they gave me the full 120 count. This is the worst Giant I have ever visited. On 12/2716 around 8.30pm. A older lady assisted me. The cashier processed to check me out but as soon as she saw me had a disgusting attitude. As I was finishing my transaction, I was instructed to sign. She told me the signatures had to be the same, but I told her they resembled. However, I offered to show ID and she declined. She proceeded with the statement "you people, I always tell you to sign the way it's on here". That was the most disrespectful , ignorant, and hateful behavior I have ever encountered. I am very upset with the ignorance, lack of knowledge, and poor customer service she administered. I am greatly discouraged from returning to patronize this Giant unless compelled. read more

Bear with me on this one. So I bought a loaf of bread from the store on Friday afternoon. Brought it to the bakery counter to have it sliced. It took an exorbitant amount of time for her to finish. I could see her struggling back there with something but didn't think much of it. Jump to you Saturday morning. I take the bread out of the paper bag and open the plastic bag to find the bottom of the loaf totally torn up and shredded. I think WTF. So apparently this employee destroyed the loaf while slicing said nothing to me placed it back in the bag and handed it to me. "have a nice day." When I brought it back the next day I asked for a refund and to speak manager. The manager could care less. She turned your back to me to assist another customer. Asked her for a response and she said oh I thought you were done or something like that.And then, very be grudgingly gave the most insincere apology saying sorry I'll speak with the person. I just said I doubt it and left for good thank you Giant, you just lost another customer over a loaf of bread. These people need a lot more training in customer service. read more

So, so bad. There are decent Giants, like in Silver Spring, but this just isn't one of them. The produce is consistently rotten, wilted, or otherwise yucky. They have a bakery department, but the bread is pretty crummy and to get any of it, you have to wait five minutes for someone to notice you, another five minutes for them to come over to you, and another five minutes for them to do whatever you need. When I used the bathroom, there was an ebony porn mag shoved in the railing. (True story.) We all wait for the Whole Foods to open. read more

This is by far the worst Giant ever. Why is it every time I come to just purchase a juice for my blood sugar it's always a 20 minute wait just to ring myself up. I come at least 4 times a week because I go to the gym over there. The self check out is crazy. You have all these self checkouts but only one staff member on an actual register. Being cheap and trying to have less jobs makes customers not want to come back and visit if you have to stand in line for 20 minutes. I hate going here, but I have to upon occasion. I think it is ridiculous that if you have over so many items you have to check yourself out. Well today I only had 5 items, and that's what self checkout is for, not my entire week worth of groceries. If I get an employee discount, I will be about bagging my stuff. I pay and bag my groceries and was told I bagged the groceries wrong (5 items) by an employee. I responded "that's why I don't get paid to bag groceries." Ever wonder what hell might be like? Come and check out this place. This place has a great selection of canned goods, produce, beverages, etc. So you'd think this is a great place to shop until you decide to pay for your goods. Two-thirds of the time the self-checkout line is not working. And when you push the button to ask for help and the machine starts screaming "Help is on the way.", the manager and cashiers just ignore you. I believe the manager is busy moving boxes or something--even though 4 of the self-checkout lines are screaming for help. When the manager finally comes out of his own choice or when you finally couldn't take it anymore and ask him to help you, he seems to just roll his eyes and help you. The manned checkout line is a bit better but not that much better. They really need to get their service act together. It really was the most painful and horrible grocery shopping experience I've ever had. read more

This place is awful in so many ways I don't know where to begin. By far the most ghettofied ratchet hell hole grocery store I have ever gone to. First of all, they got ppl opening up items and just leaving them on the shelf. I once tried to buy some oxtails and it turned out they were rotten and way past its expiration date. The check out line is so crappy. It's slow and every minute there is an error. That annoying "help is on the way". You have to wait like 10 minutes for cashiers to notice you and to get help. What's irritating is that most of them see you and keep walking or chit chatting with each other and just ignore you. Sometimes you might be having trouble and they have an attitude with you as if you are inconveniencing them. Honestly I would NEVER come here but it's the closest to my house so the location is convenient. Trust me, if you have a grocery store closer to you, stay far away from this one as much as possible. read more

My mother in law visited from outside the D.C. area and kindly bought over three weeks of groceries from the Giant grocery store in Greenbelt, Maryland for my husband and I. There is a wide selection of meat, produce, and frozen foods within this store. I also like that the cashier cared to provide courteous customer service while scanning the grocery items. read more

I dont know what is going on with this store. It used to be so nice. I go here every week only because they are convenient and there are no nice grocery stores close to me that are any better and I think Giants knows that. They have a steady flow of "new" cashiers who only seem to want to chat with their friends instead of packing my groceries correctly and being nice. They grimace when they see me walking up with my packed grocery cart. Their pharmacy, although nice, have not counted my pills correctly the last couple of times and shorted me. The placed looked okay until I used the restroom one day. There was one person before me waiting for the restroom. She was a giant employee. One of the restrooms opened, another giant employee came out and this employee went in. After she finished it was my turn and I went in. My god, the restroom was horrible, so filthy and disgusting. The diaper changing table was filled with cigarette buds, no toilet paper and worst of all no hand wash soap. Both the giant employees who used it right before me then apparently did not wash their hands and also had no problem with that. No one had any concern about the restroom's condition and did not bother to place the basics toilet paper and hand wash. These are the people who handle the produce, meat, groceries and all that we eat. I wonder if these grocery stores go through any inspection ever, if not periodically and how they maintain their license. read more
