The Silver Saddle is owned by the people who run The Rudd Hotel, but was closed at the time we visited. There is no ice machine on sight but you can go to Homeland Grocery Store for ice or anything else you need. Sonic Hamburgers is directly across the street.

But this year, my significant other decided at the last minute to join me. While separately searching, we both found this gem, BarDew Valley Inn! And what a find it was! The owner, Perry, was exceptionally accommodating to us and the other guests. Our room, New Orleans, was absolutely stunning! The daily 9 am breakfasts were prepared with care and incredibly scrumptious. The house was beautiful and nightly movie nights in the Theater always the best way to top off the day. There are several themed suites. I stayed in the New York suite, which was a cleaner, more modern feel with several NYC motifs. There is also a New Orleans suite, a cowboy suite, and a French suite. He is currently working on an Asian themed suite. Each suite has its own bath and private entrance, as well as patio space to enjoy the evenings. There is wooded space and a pond out front with sitting areas. Very quiet and on a dead end, so no traffic. The rooms have comfy beds, wonderful, luxurious bedding, and a mattress warmer, which I loved! Each room has a refrigerator and Perry supplies bottled water, a keurig, coffee pods, glasses/cups, an ice bucket, extra blankets. A booklet with info on local restaurants and attractions. Everything you'd need! While I stayed here for work and kept to myself, Perry checked in with me often to make sure I didn't need anything. Other guests used the common areas more, like the movie room/game room and the kitchen. One night Perry built a fire in the fire pit. It would be a great place for people who want to socialize and meet new folks. Perry also makes breakfast every morning. I had to start work very early, so didn't partake, but other guests have raved about it. Perry really does open his home up to everyone and is very gregarious and gracious. It would be a great getaway for anyone wanting to explore the area. My suite was 139 a night, a great value.

The lobby had cones and a pallet with a wooden box on it, and the far end had tarps up. The guy gave us our room key and our room was okay. The bed was fairly comfortable, the A/C worked well and the shower had good pressure, and the water got hot. We had so much fun and from driving up to the very hugs goodbye, our hosts and proprietors, Cheryl and Stan were warm and welcoming. They are the perfect couple to run a cute place like this because they are friendly and true ambassadors of the little town. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have all the amenities you need. Cheryl even heard that my mom has trouble walking so she shifted accommodations for us when we reserved a month out so that my mom would not struggle with stairs. They invited us to church and we're always checking when we arrived back that we are enjoying our stay. Our room was quaint, cozy, yet spacious and the large king bed was so comfortable! We wanted to buy the decorations as they were so cute and made you feel like you were staying Osage cowboy and Indian country. I highly recommend this place to stay as it overlooks the town on a top of the hill and yet is quiet and peaceful too. I was able to sit on the back porch in the morning writing postcards and reading my Bible. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be staying there again. Go and get an authentic small town experience with the friendliest people around!

Needless to say, this experience did NOT start off well. Even worse, the room smelled awful, as if it hadn't been cleaned very well or as if housekeeping was covering up the smells of a previous customer who used the room as their own personal smoking or vaping den. Like a lingering ghost, the smells wafted about and permeated every cubic inch of that room, even disturbing my sleep. At least the shower was excellent with tremendous water pressure. But the experience was pretty overwhelming.
