But this year, my significant other decided at the last minute to join me. While separately searching, we both found this gem, BarDew Valley Inn! And what a find it was! The owner, Perry, was exceptionally accommodating to us and the other guests. Our room, New Orleans, was absolutely stunning! The daily 9 am breakfasts were prepared with care and incredibly scrumptious. The house was beautiful and nightly movie nights in the Theater always the best way to top off the day. There are several themed suites. I stayed in the New York suite, which was a cleaner, more modern feel with several NYC motifs. There is also a New Orleans suite, a cowboy suite, and a French suite. He is currently working on an Asian themed suite. Each suite has its own bath and private entrance, as well as patio space to enjoy the evenings. There is wooded space and a pond out front with sitting areas. Very quiet and on a dead end, so no traffic. The rooms have comfy beds, wonderful, luxurious bedding, and a mattress warmer, which I loved! Each room has a refrigerator and Perry supplies bottled water, a keurig, coffee pods, glasses/cups, an ice bucket, extra blankets. A booklet with info on local restaurants and attractions. Everything you'd need! While I stayed here for work and kept to myself, Perry checked in with me often to make sure I didn't need anything. Other guests used the common areas more, like the movie room/game room and the kitchen. One night Perry built a fire in the fire pit. It would be a great place for people who want to socialize and meet new folks. Perry also makes breakfast every morning. I had to start work very early, so didn't partake, but other guests have raved about it. Perry really does open his home up to everyone and is very gregarious and gracious. It would be a great getaway for anyone wanting to explore the area. My suite was 139 a night, a great value.

Sometimes it's hot or cold because there are no individual thermostats. Fans and heaters are provided aa needed. I haven't stayed in the winter, but in the summer, once the sun goes down, with the fans, it's quite pleasant. I stayed in the king bed two story suite. It's airy, full of light, roomy, beautiful. I adore the tall windows. There is a TV upstairs and downstairs. The bed is plush and comfy and the linens crisp, fresh, and clean. The bathroom is quite small, but inline with FLW and the times. The facility gives tours and they are interesting and enlightening! There is a restaurant on site, open Tuesday through Saturday (reviewed separately). It's the closest thing you get to elevated in Bartlesville. They have trivia Tuesdays, wine Wednesday, live entertainment Thursday, karaoke Friday, and regular Saturdays. Staff is always wonderful. Highly recommended. But please don't rate this unique, historical site on the same plane as four seasons.

The Inn at Price Tower is a Wright time capsule and well worth the time and expense to visit this building and immerse yourself in the architectural experience. I'm a retired architect and a big FLW fan. The "hospitality side" (ie: what normal consumers expect from a hotel property) is pretty non-existent. Let me explain: Not to get into mechanical engineering weeds, but the building has a 2-pipe HVAC system. This means that the entire building is either heating or cooling depending upon the season. No matter how hot or cold you may be in your hotel room, if the system is in heating mode (wintertime) there is no A/C available. Likewise, if the system is in cooling mode (summertime), there is no heating available. We stayed 2 nights in early May so the heating was still on (kind of between seasons), but since there was an oscillating fan available in our room, we were fairly comfortable sleeping. Not really a biggie, just be aware of the building's heating/cooling limitations. The other thing really perplexing was that there was no coffee service available in the morning. The in-house restaurant did not offer breakfast, the Lobby area provided no guest coffee service and there was no in-room coffeemaker provided - weird! In the last 30 years of business travel I can't recall a similar situation. In order to get coffee, guests are required to walk 2 blocks to a local coffee shop that opens at 6am weekdays and 7am weekends. Super inconvenient from a "hospitality" standpoint. So, if you're familiar with Wright's design sensibilities, you'll recall that he never had much use for bathrooms and elevators - both of which are super small by modern standards and current building codes. Don't expect the spa level experience you may have enjoyed at other boutique hotels - they 'aint there, lol! If you go into the Inn at Price Tower experience with a "Wright state of mind", you'll enjoy your stay and be able to forgive the limitations of the design. The tour is well worth the price, and I highly recommend participating. Our group consisted of only me and my wife, so it was basically a private tour. It was advertised as a 60-minute tour, but our Dosen gave us nearly 2 hours! Really interesting. Take-a-ways: Bring you own coffee maker and breakfast items. Be prepared for the seasonal interior heating or cooling situation and be sure to have reasonable expectations for living in a Wright-designed building for a night or two. I chose this venue for my sister's baby shower, and unfortunately, our experience was very…read moredisappointing. When booking, we discussed renting the downstairs space because we had elderly and handicapped guests who could not easily access stairs. Based on the listing photos and our text conversation with the owner, we understood we were renting a different area than what we actually received. When we arrived, both my sister and I immediately realized the space was not what we had expected. The area we were given was the entryway/lobby area, not what we believed we had reserved based on the listing and our communications. When we expressed our concerns, the owner initially acknowledged there had been a misunderstanding regarding the space and even discussed refunding us before the event. However, with guests already traveling and arriving--including family from out of state--and less than two hours before the baby shower, canceling simply was not a realistic option. We chose to continue because we wanted my sister to have her baby shower, not because the issues had been resolved. Unfortunately, the room itself was only part of the problem. Our contract allowed us access before the event so we could decorate. However, when we arrived, the venue was still being cleaned. We were unable to begin decorating on time because the owners were still cleaning the rented space. They remained in the venue through the beginning of our event, further delaying setup and making preparations much more stressful than they should have been. The building was also very warm. The air conditioning had not been running before we arrived, and despite being turned on later, the room never cooled below 77°F during the event. With a room full of guests, it was noticeably uncomfortable. After the event, I reached out in hopes of finding a reasonable resolution. Rather than addressing my concerns about the delayed access, the venue not being event-ready, or the temperature, the conversation focused almost entirely on the room selection. The owner also listed several "upgrades" as compensation, including setting up tables and chairs, upgraded chairs, and access to a small private room typically used as a bridal suite. However, none of those were services we requested, and they did not address the actual issues we experienced. In fact, we had to rearrange the tables ourselves because the setup interfered with decorating. Guests began arriving while the owners were still on-site finishing the cleaning, which meant we never had the uninterrupted setup time we had reserved. What was especially frustrating was the inconsistency in communication. Initially, the owner acknowledged there had been a misunderstanding regarding the space. Later, she denied there had been any misunderstanding at all and instead stated it was entirely our fault. She also repeatedly claimed we had been offered an opportunity to tour the venue before booking, but after reviewing our text messages, I could not find any such offer before the event. This review is not because I wanted a larger room for a lower price. It is because I expected the venue I rented to be accurately represented, clean, ready at the agreed-upon time, and reasonably comfortable for my guests. Those expectations were not met. The baby shower itself turned out beautifully because our family worked hard to make the best of the situation, but the venue created unnecessary stress on what should have been a special day. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in communication, clearer descriptions of the rental spaces, and ensuring venues are completely cleaned and ready before renters arrive.
