Love the interior and how unique the vibe is. Got the chocolate chip, pistachio toffee, and peanut butter crunch except they gave us another pistachio one by mistake. They even clarified which peanut butter one I wanted and showed it to me and somehow still didn't put it in my box. So, that was disappointing as I was looking forward to trying that. They tasted really decadent and not as sweet as I thought. Updated review! I was able to get in within 15 minutes, which was awesome! I grabbed a peanut butter cold brew, a pistachio toffee, a chocolate chip and a banana bread chocolate chip cookie. We don't typically eat the cookies when we get them, we take them home and have them later that evening or the next day. Anyway, I opened it the next day and unfortunately, my pistachio toffee did not make it but rather a peanut butter cookie! I was so bummed out, no one is going to eat that in this house. Anyhow, I knocked two stars down because of the staff when we entered. The employees that were choosing the cookies seemed very upset and irritated, and there were no smiles out of them whatsoever. My cashier was wonderful, but just made for a strange experience since they are your first point of contact. I also noticed that the peanut butter cold brew was a little more on the sweeter side this time, so I'm not sure if the quality has dropped down or if someone just was in a rush when they made it. The last time I visited Disney Springs, I saw the line for Gideon's and turned right around. This visit, I decided to stick it out. There was maybe 75 people in line when I arrived just after opening on a Monday. But, it only took about 25 minutes to get through. I opted for the seasonal/monthly options - a peanut butter cold brew cookie and an orange mocha nitro cold brew. The coffee was really good. Just the right amount of orange. The cookie was very peanut buttery but I didn't really taste the coffee part. The ambiance is super cool and a nice reprieve from the Florida heat. All the employees were incredibly friendly. I'd say it's definitely worth a visit once but I don't know that I'd wait in that line in the heat more than once. read more

The outside of Gideon's basically looks like something out of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings had an edge to them with and was filled with goth music playing for Snape. The outside looks like the entrance to a haunted ride and the line to enter confirms it. The inside is decorated super gothic feeling like an old edger Allan Poe poem. Speaking of which, all the old books aren't for show. These are actually aged real readable books, some probably worth quite a bit. There is an actual authentic 1829 "Works of Edger Allan Poe" book right at the counter. Expensive. The cookies are large thick and filling. Not to sugary at all. We had pistachio, cookies and cream, banana chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate chip. Now here's the thing. They are great cookies cause the flavor isn't just a cup of sugar and some dough. You can taste the flavors and they work. But don't expect an explosion in your mouth. It's obvious they are going for real flavors that allow their own sweetness to shine. Here is the best thing to do. Cut your cookies in half and share amongst friends, or if your big backing have it all. BUT I refrigerated them over night and had one after a minute in the microwave and another cold straight out of the refrigerator and WOW! It took a very good cookie to something spectacular. It only took maybe 25mins to move through the line (long but quickly moving as long as people in front are efficient!) I have a total love-hate relationship with Gideon's Bakehouse at Disney Springs, a gourmet cookie joint that has built an insane amount of hype around its gigantic, acquired taste cookies. My husband absolutely loathes this place while I adore the taste and texture of the cookies, and he's always a good sport and takes me to the bakery every single time we are in Orlando (I guess he's a keeper, LOL). First of all, the cookies are not for everyone. They're huge, heavy, and super rich, almost like biting into raw cookie dough. They have that brown sugar crunch that's oh-so-satisfying. Personally, I think they throw in way too many chocolate chips, but if you love chocolate overload then you will love these cookies. They're Insta-worthy in every way, from the evenly spaced toppings to the inside view when you slice them in half. The "ugliest" cookie is also their best: the cookies and cream. I could seriously eat myself into oblivion if I had a box of these. The calorie count has to be astronomical, and I always try to divide each cookie into fourths. That doesn't always go well, as I have been known to eat almost an entire cookie in one sitting (and I lived to tell the tale)! Although there are signs (yes, literal SIGNS) that say "don't warm our cookies," I say to heck with that! The cookies are even BETTER after popping them in the microwave for a few seconds. There are lots of "rules" about how you're supposed to eat the cookies, which is really obnoxious. If I paid ridiculously inflated prices for cookies in the first place, don't go and tell me how I have to eat them. The answer is, I can eat my overpriced treats however I want! And that's one of the big problems: the owner has a really, truly awful reputation (just Google him), and it shows. The employees seem perpetually unhappy, borderline angry, and thoroughly miserable. Even worse, you're automatically prompted to leave a 20%+ tip just for taking pre-wrapped cookies out of a drawer and putting them in a box. And if you don't throw five bucks their way, you get the nastiest look you have ever seen in your life. Don't be guilted into tipping here. The other thing that makes Gideon's such an unpleasant experience is the wait time for cookies, which is absolutely ridiculous. There is always a massive line that stretches across Disney Springs no matter what time of day you go. It feels like it's intentionally dragged out just to build hype, and these lines could move so much faster if they actually wanted to. The line outside is sneaky: once the door person lets you inside, there's yet ANOTHER twisty and turny line that you have to suffer through. The shop inside is adorable and has a rad steampunk aura, again making it great for photo ops. The packaging is undeniably adorable as well. While they refuse to ship cookies, I find they keep for around a week even out of the fridge or freezer. I immediately pack them in ziploc bags and they stay soft and fresh for a while. Gideon's Bakehouse has tasty cookies that are worth trying, but they make the whole purchasing experience exhausting. The product is great, but the service is not. It's a not so secrete "secret menu" that they heat up your cookie and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for $3 more. They have morning offerings, and two different times when you can actually get a hot cookie served with ice cream. At 3 pm and 7 pm. There is almost always a long line, so you have to be committed to wait in order to get these sought after cookies. But, what I do is order 6 of them, which is the limit to buy for one person. I put them in a ziplock and freeze them, so they last in the freezer well. Also, keep in mind that these cookies are half of a pound! My favorite flavor is the pistachio and chocolate chip cookies. The rest of the people are lined outside along the left side of the building which is good since it is usually shaded in that area. --Overall-- Great chocolate dessert theme bakery. The Nitro Cold Brew (Cookie Butter Butterscotch) was easily one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. The 'Gothic Tim Burton' aesthetic inside is incredible, and the artwork is just as good as the treats. I'm definitely going back for the cake next time! Sorry I can't join the Gideon's fan club. We made a trip to Disney Springs in order to experience this wildly popular bakery. As I looked over the options, I was filled with enthusiasm. The flavors and decadent appearance of these little cookie bombs are tempting to say the least. The atmosphere is as described, gothic and Haunted Mansion-esque. The staff are all very helpful and polite, from the line wrangler to the cashier. We went on a Tuesday night and were out the door with our cookies in 30 minutes. The cookies however, were disappointing. Are they caked in toppings? Yes. Are they packed full of flavor? Yes. Are they substantial? Yes. But, they are also raw inside. Moist is great, uncooked is another story. If you forget the fact that you are eating a cookie and pretend it is a mouse cake or scoop of cookie dough, you can savor the treat. But, having just had a couple of Levain cookie in NYC (for a lower price than this $$$$$$$ one) I can tell you that you can make a mile-high thick cookie that is cooked through. I just think there is a sense of scarcity and an attraction to the gothic spooky vibe that has created this phenomenon and I'm not buying in. read more

Virtual line was 2 hours today. We decided to check in and get in line before roaming around because then by the time we were done with DS then it'd be time to go get cookies. And sure enough it worked out. 2 hours on the dot we got the text to go check in. We hadn't been in 2 years so I was excited. We got 6 cookies - the chocolate chip because that's the one that will change your life!, the Kringle, and the sugar cookie stuffed with pumpkin. I also got the butterscotch nitro brew which was sooo sweet but also so good. Love that they only use oat milk so I don't have to worry about asking for a milk alternative. This place is definitely worth the wait and the hype is real. A must try if you're in the area. The wait is always super long and you can only get in via the virtual queue so be sure to do what we do and check in as soon as you arrive at DS. read more

Idk what the fuss is all about. We were on our way to dinner and saw this HUGE line wrapping around the store. I asked one person in line and they say had been waiting about 45 mins for these cookies. I was like wtf, are these magical. While I waited for my reservation to be ready I looked this place up. The review said most good. Some very bad. I stand by the 3/5. After dinner we walked by to head back to the main road and there were maybe 10 people I was like "ok let's see" I asked the girl in front she like 5 mins. Inside the place so adorable, amazing totally worth the wait. It's a small fun joint you would see in a movie. Once I got the chocolate chip (of course) cookies and cream for me, and hubs for pistachios and toffee chocolate chip. They all come wrapped in a nice wrap which is perfect presentation. Staff was super nice. We got back to the hotel to give them a shot. Wow is all I can say. First we tried the chocolate chip, omg it slaps you in the face with chips and the cookie is like cookie dough. Then tried the cookies and cream, per photo you can see there is basically no cookie, it was all Oreo. When we put into it all we ate was Oreo. Basically the cookie dough was there to keep the Oreos together. The pistachio, was the best. There was actual cookie dough, and I mean like raw kind of dough. Basically just full nuts chips and large pieces of toffee on top and inside. I really don't understand the hype. This must just be an IG thing. Gideon's Bakehouse absolutely lives up to the hype. We tried the banana bread chocolate chip cookie and the pistachio toffee cookie, and both were incredible. The banana bread chocolate chip was rich, moist, and perfectly balanced. It tasted like a warm slice of banana bread turned into an indulgent cookie, with generous chocolate chips in every bite. The pistachio toffee cookie was just as impressive, packed with flavor, slightly salty, and loaded with crunchy toffee and pistachios that paired beautifully with the soft cookie base. The store is really cool inside and I loved the theming. Both cookies were thick, decadent, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. Gideon's is a must stop in Orlando and absolutely worth the wait if there is one. We'll definitely be back to try more flavors. read more

This place always has a line. What can you do. I heard they added virtual que but not during busy times which seems to be when I go. They also have seasonal flavors so it just depends on when you go. Both for cookies & cakes. I've tried several. As for the regular, my favorite is the pistachio chocolate chip cookie. The nuts take away the sweetness which is a perfect combo. The holiday Kris Kringle & mint ones were also really good. Can't recall the other flavors but I have enjoyed them all!!! Just know you'll have to wait but they do move pretty quickly. read more

I was from out of town and came to see the hype of these cookies. I came to the area 2x and both times were packed. There is a line supervised by an employee, but wild how people still wait in line even in the dang summer thunderstorm haha! People come prepared with umbrellas and everything. The line is mostly outside. Once you're inside, you are basically ordering and waiting to pay out. PARKING: I did paid parking at the Orange lot. It's a walk to get here to be honest. These cookies are thick and weigh about half a pound haha, hence their cost being roughly $7 each. I got the 3 pack of cookies. Here's what I tried: -MORNING JOE'S COFFEE TOFFEE COOKIE: It was this month's limited edition flavor. Filled and topped with freshly ground decaf espresso beans and complimented with crunchy toffee and rich chocolate. This was a little too decadent for my flavor palate. Preferred the plain coffee cake one instead. -BANANA BREAD CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE: Classic chocolate chip with the banana bread twist. Definitely heavy on the banana bread flavor on texture and not subtle. My kids and I enjoyed this one. -COFFEE CAKE COOKIE: Available in the mornings only until they sell out. This was solid too. Overall, I must say that I enjoy Levain's cookies personally a little bit more. I found that Gideon's underbakes their cookie a little too much for my liking to the point. Worth a try, but may not wait in line again for it. read more
