I was openly between the hospital or using the Birthing Inn and was told I needed to pay the $475 to start the registration. I was told it was sometimes refundable. I did not complete the registration and called to get the very sizable $475 back but was told the owner denied it. I received no services from this facility and utilized the hospital for my delivery. Please note, if you're on the fence to NOT pay the fee until you're certain.

I had just turned 20 and my husband had just been discharged from the army and we had just moved to Washington. I was traveling from Bellevue so expected at least a 45 minute trip to the birthing center when I did go into labor. My mother called Susan the day before to tell her I had a family history of very fast labors and that I was showing signs of early labor. When we left Bellevue that night , my mom called to let her know we were heading to The Birthing Inn. Susan let us know she was out to dinner with her family but would meet us there. Well we got there and the place was dark and I proceeded to labor in the car hoping I didn't give birth before she arrived. She finally showed up after 25 minutes and set up a room for me, not the room I chose even though there were no other women there. I had agreed to having a single student present and there were at least 3 strangers I'd never met coming in and out and I was very upset about that. I felt she took all my money and used me for all her students to gain experience. After I gave birth, I felt great. I remember sitting on the edge of the birthing tub when Susan said that the placenta needed to be delivered right away and that I was bleeding too much. She then pulled my placenta out of my body...I felt it tear out of me and instantly felt a gush of blood and was extremely weak. Barely after placing my baby on my chest to nurse she was bringing up controversial things that my husband and I had not yet agreed on, asking us if we had come to an agreement, which was none of her business and caused me a lot of distress. She was still concerned about my bleeding and told me that if It didn't stop that she was going to have me transferred to a hospital. After 6 hours she was rushing me out of there and told me if I wasn't able to get up and walk out of there then she was calling an ambulance. She was gone before I left. I remember hobbling out of the room and having to sit down multiple times to avoid passing out. I felt so stressed that she would send me to the hospital and separate me from my baby. A sad difference from when I gave birth to my second child and was wheeled out in a wheelchair and given so much support and compassion. My birth felt like a rushed inconvenience.. like she was just trying to get back to her family and she had no respect for me or my birthing experience.

We had an incredible experience with Wellspring Midwifery. I had recently had a missed miscarriage…read morewhen I came into their care with my second pregnancy. The midwifery clinic I was previously with for the first pregnancy , told me I could no longer work with them and did not give a reason. Valley medical midwives said they would not work with me because I am overweight and of advanced maternal age. The other midwives clinics in the area said they were full for my due date. Swedish midwives did not take my insurance. When I went to the obgyn, she made me feel like I was wasting her time and I felt rushed during a very tender time. I felt discouraged and decided to widen how far I was willing to travel for care. I reached out to Wellspring Midwifery, and they promptly set up a zoom call where I asked tons of questions, we discussed our experience and they shared info about their practice. I felt so relieved to find them during such a hard time, filled with fear and anxiety. Our first appointment was over an hour and Lizz made me feel so comfortable and heard. It was amazing, they even did Saturday appointments so we didn't have to miss work and the traffic was much better. I met Elliot a few appointments later and she was equally awesome to Lizz! Throughout the process, I had monthly appointments and additionally was able to call for questions or write them in the online portal and they would promptly respond. Later in my pregnancy, we made the informed decision that we would prefer to transfer my care to a hospital so that I could access an epidural during labor and knowing which hospital we were going to. Lizz and Elliot were supportive of this decision and helped with the transition of paperwork. They allowed me to stay on for postpartum care. I even called them during my labor when I was trying to make a decision. It was awesome to have the support of their postpartum care because my obgyn only scheduled me for 1 appointment at 8 weeks postpartum. Lizz and La-Kiesha (their midwifery student who joined many of my appointments) came into my home 2 days after my baby was born and did a visit where we talked about the baby, my husband and myself and did some checks on the baby and me. They also gave me breastfeeding support. I had multiple follow ups in office during the first 6 weeks postpartum. It was so helpful to get regular support throughout that period of time. I am forever grateful for my experience with Wellspring Midwifery and I highly recommend them for your prenatal and postpartum care.

You're not just "another patient" - this is a safe space to build a relationship with people that will be present for one of the most vulnerable and sacred experiences of your life. I really admire them and the crucial work they do to help empower women with knowledge and confidence in their ability to birth. I worked closely with one of the student midwives, and she was wonderful too. No doubt you will be in good hands in their care. Can't recommend Wellspring Midwifery highly enough!!

We were so tired of…read morebeing treated like cattle by hospitals, with midwives giving us conflicting information, not listening to us, and leaving us feeling unsafe. So we reached out to Christine and In Tandem for a consultation. I honestly have always been a bit skeptical and afraid of home birth, so I came armed with a lot of questions. But once we talked (virtually) to Christine, we immediately felt compassion and care. She is the perfect guide - never pushing her own agenda, listening, but not afraid to give you her opinion. She backs everything up with science and her experience. Christine put us at ease throughout our pregnancy - That was the exact opposite to what we had experienced at our hospitals. She always listened, and even involved our oldest kiddo during visits. Christine and her team were amazing during our son's birth, we felt so safe and cared for. We had great postpartum care as well, coming to our home and checking on my partner, answering questions, and again, involving our older kiddo. It's been almost two years since, and we still miss Christine!

PART 2/2 (finishing our review on my husband's account due to character limit):…read more Now for the postpartum care. This is the most unique part of choosing midwifery care and in my opinion, the #1 reason to do so. Whereas in the traditional obstetric model you typically see your provider one time at 6 weeks (often just to make sure you don't have any signs or symptoms of postpartum mood disorder, to discuss birth control, and to clear you for sex and physical activity), Christine sees clients and their new babies about 6 times in the first 6ish weeks after birth. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all postpartum visits have been at home. These visits are about so much more than just you and your baby's physical well-being; they are focused on the entire family, involving older kiddos in the home, and it's evident that Christine genuinely cares about how everyone is adjusting and doing emotionally. For the first two weeks of your baby's life, Christine's license includes the provision of all routine pediatric care, saving you from additional appointments or trips out of the home so you as the birthing person can focus on recovering and celebrating your growing family. Again, the level of attentiveness and family-centered care received is unmatched. After the birth of our first son, I dealt with a resurgence of a lifelong struggle with anxiety related to the transition to parenthood. Until I connected to a community of West Seattle mama friends, I can genuinely say Christine and Taylor were the women who provided me with the most support. After the birth of our second son, I experienced some unexpected postpartum complications that required me to page Christine. I could have easily been sent to the Emergency Department for the symptoms I was experiencing, but Christine took the time to come evaluate me in the comfort of my own home and provide me with additional testing and support. If anything page-worthy arises during your time in care with In Tandem, you will receive a response promptly, and instead of a nurse line as in hospital-based care, you get to talk to your midwife directly. If you are looking for perinatal care that will change your life, look no further than In Tandem. The name of the practice is so fitting as your midwife will walk hand-in-hand with you and your family every step of the way. Pregnant families--run don't walk to In Tandem Midwifery!

Through every step, I felt like I was respected, listened to, in control, and completely cared for. They are reassuring and kind, and never made me feel like I was overreacting when I was freaking out (which, by the way, I totally was, ha). They also treated my partner like he was important and listened to his questions/concerns as well, instead of just directing to me all the time, which I know meant a lot to him. My birth was an absolutely amazing experience, and so much of that is because I had midwives who were 100% on board with my birth plan, and who let me birth without dictating every detail of how it would go. They made sure baby and I were safe and gave suggestions and encouragement when they needed to. I was able to choose what positions to labor/push in which was so great. They were such a calming presence and we felt so reassured by their warmth and competence. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a wild journey. These are the midwives you want by your side for one of the most raw, life-changing, vulnerable, amazing experiences of your life. I was elated but knew I needed to find the right provider who would be totally supportive of my decision to give birth naturally. I interviewed 2 other OB's + they automatically told me that they don't have time to wait for twin moms to labor & I knew they weren't a fit. I emailed Dr. Stu from CA + another midwife in the Greater Seattle area asking for recs. I was led to Dr. Ho! In short, my care with her was excellent. She didn't do unnecessarily long ultrasounds. She encouraged me to eat a ton of protein to ensure good blood volume & weight gain. She didn't enforce or force anything on me + my twin sons even though it was clear what her opinions were on certain things. She just encouraged me to let my body do its work & to wait on timing. She herself has twin brothers!! Lol. Honestly she made midwifery/OB life so cool + interesting. Not for me though. Anywho... She also has incredible bedside manners lol never barged in when I was in the middle of labor just right at the end to catch my sons. Seriously so sad that she closed her clinic cause she's quite the OB/midwife. The hospital also respects her a lot & trusts her judgment which was awesome to see. Praying that she heals + enjoys her retirement. She is a gem. My sons were both over 7 lbs. I didn't have NICU time. It was my fastest labor... and no complications all glory to God!! So thankful for her Also the staff there was so chill, friendly, & genuine. I really am so sad that she's not in practice anymore.

DO NOT GO HERE THEY CANNOT TREAT THE VOLUME OF PATIENTS THEY TAKE IN!!!…read more I actually had to switch OB/GYN offices because I was suffering patient neglect from this location. I have been having severe nausea and vomiting from the very first appointment I ever had there. The midwife, Karin Peacock, neglected to record any of my symptoms of nausea and vomiting and actually wrote in her notes that I was doing great. The only advice she had given me about being nauseous vomiting constantly and in capable of eating any food was "have you ever thought about it being fuel for the baby?" As if I'm some kind of idiot. When I finally got a diagnosis for hyperemesis gravidarum she told me that she thinks I probably don't actually have that. Even though I was diagnosed by the ER doctor that has a higher degree more experience and more knowledge in the subject that she recommended I go to. I was honest with one of the receptionists about what had happened and she told me she thought they could do better and asked me if I would like to come in and speak with Dr. Ho the main doctor at this office. When I came in to speak with Dr. Ho she told me that they have too many clients to be offering that level of care or being able to keep track of who has just morning sickness and who has HG. Dr. Ho if you're reading this if you cannot take care of the volume of patients that you have you need to lower the amount of patients that you're seeing. This is malpractice this is patient neglect and I hope that no one ever hast to deal with what I dealt with at your clinic it was absolutely pathetic and ridiculous. The fact that you laughed at me when I tried to speak with you about the issues I was having with Karin Peacock it's jarring.
