We recently got our dog and, thus, really didn't know what to expect. Gigi was both kind and thorough with our girl, taking care of every little detail. When I first arrived with Sadie (our dog), she didn't want to get in the kennel to wait. Gigi wasn't concerned and said she didn't need to if she didn't want to. She said she would rather her be comfortable. She let her walk around the place while she waited for her turn, something Sadie definitely appreciated. When my husband picked her up, Gigi went through everything she had done and what to look out for. She wasn't judgemental, but rather kind and helpful--providing us with everything we needed to know in a very professional way. As new pet owners, we were super appreciative of the extra effort in customer service. You can tell she really cares about each dog. Before taking her in, our dog had super coarse fur, even after bathing. She had also started shedding a ton after being in boarding over the holidays. We think the stress of boarding may have worsened her skin and caused shedding as she normally doesn't shed much. When we got her back, her fur was silky-smooth and smelled heavenly. The deshedding definitely did the trick, and she also cleaned out her ears, clipped her nails, and even drained anal fluid. Our pooch came back nice and shiny and, more importantly, very happy. Gigi even sent her home with an adorable bandana tied around her neck! There are probably cheaper options out there, but you are really getting it all and more with Gigi. She even gave us a student discount as my husband is a UTMB student. Would definitely recommend. read more

I am new to Galveston, so as with any time moving to a new area, I had to find a new groomer for my pups. I dropped my babies off with Gigi this morning, and she listened to all of my "instructions", and asked me several questions. My labradoodle loves everyone, but my Bichon doesn't, so I am always more concerned about her. When I picked them up this afternoon they looked GREAT. Gigi had followed my instructions to a T! She even spent extra time to help my labradoodle to get used to the hair dryer (he had a bad experience at a groomer before and tends to go crazy when being blow dried). Well the extra time paid off and he wasn't afraid. Gigi also had my Bichon cuddling up on her and giving her kisses! This dog does NOT do this with people she hasn't known a long time! In addition, you know you are getting good customer service when you're asked to make sure if there is anything you are 100% satisfied with, to let her know, and come back and she will fix it! Overall, a great experience... and we have found a new "stylist" for the pups!!! read more

GiGi is amazing. Her shop is very serene. I was very stressed about bringing my 13-year-old Maltese (who has a large malignant skin tumor and other health issues) in for grooming. GiGi handled my tears and my dog beautifully. Petunia looked great afterwards with no knicks! She is only $10 more than PetSmart, and I consider that a bargain. 100% recommend. read more

Do not go there, for your pets sake! Complete rip off. I took my cocker Spaniel,and Bassett Hound there. Not only did she not bathe them, she started cutting my cocker''s feet, just one, then his left ear. I was unaware of a tumor he had on his leg, which she didn't check far before cutting his hair, but cut into it. At first she couldn't stop the bleeding, finally she got the bleeding to stop, then called me. My dog was. scared to death, and still bleeding. She said she tried to call several times, but I never got the call, till I was to pick them up. Neither dog was bathed, but according to her the Bassett Hound had been bathed. There was dirt all down belly! I am calling the Better Business, and filing a complaint. She had the Nerve to charge me over a $100 for groomlng Them. I was so distressed I paid her, without checking them out. Called back when I got home to explain she hadn't even bathed the Bassett, she became billerigent and said she had. Not once did she say, bring them back, and let me check them. I now have vet. bills for the Cocker spaniel. Hopefully with antibiotics he'll survive. I had never used this groomer before, I always go to. Biscuit grooming, on 61st. They do an excellent job, but the groomer had to go into the hospital. Their prices are a lot lower, and they are quick. My dogs were gone from. 9:00 am till late that after noon. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. My dogs are my babies! read more

On first impression, I really did think that this will be my dogs new groomer! My dog is a 10-12 pound maltipoo mix that came in with matting (he had been growing out his hair for the last 5 months). I was quoted on the phone $65 before my appointment. When he came in, the owner did mention that he was matted, but she never mentioned the SIGNIFICANT upcharge. I ended up paying $140 for my SMALL dogs haircut. That was DOUBLE the price I was quoted. When I asked why, she stated because he was matted and the service took 3 hours and it's an extra ~$20/hr for that. I felt like 3 hours is normal grooming time for any pet (his previous grooming visits were about that long), and I am extremely disappointed that none of the extra fees were explained PRIOR to his cut. I am not sure why I was charged for matting and extra time because he was just shaved completely. There was no efforts to save his original length of hair, and there was no hours of dematting involved. I will definitely have to find a new groomer with better and more transparent pricing! Unless you have $100+ for a small dog (fees not mentioned BEFORE you drop your pet off), then I would suggest going elsewhere. Very disappointed. read more

When I left my baby looked fearful and was trembling, but when I picked her up she was calm and happy. Gigi was a good experiance for my dog and that was important to me. Gigi was new to us and our toy poodle, Annie. When we picked her up she was well-groomed and not smelling overly perfumed or disinfected. Her report card listed her having had a blueberry facial and mango spa treatment. Nails were trimmed, anal glands expressed, ears cleaned, and teeth brushed! ( a first at a groomer's). Gigi listened to our request for particular treatment of coat and feet. Great experience! In addition, Annie had a vet appointment later in the day and he was impressed with the good grooming and that her ears did not show signs of stressed or vigorous cleaning. We will return to Gigi's and recommend her to anyone looking for a groomer. read more

Excellent grooming experience for my 12 year old Golden Retriever. Gigi is gentle and caring and really listens to you as the owner and wants to know your expectations and concerns. My dog Rufus just loves Gigi! She's been grooming him for the last year and she is truly a dog whisperer: she has a connection that reduces our grooming-averse large dog to putty in her hands. He comes back to us calm, happy and looking handsome. I found Gigi after a bad experience at the big-box pet store: for the same price my dog had a much better grooming experience with Gigi. We also recently left Rufus for extended boarding and I can tell he was spoiled in all the best possible ways. He had plenty of activity, company and caring! It about time I left a review, my chow mix has hated going to the groomers pretty much always, but Gigi's has always been really great about keeping her anxiety down! She never seems stressed when I go to pick her up and she's most definitely less resistant to be dropped off than she's been in the past! Gigi never pushes her too far past her comfort zone, and she always does a fantastic job. I bring her in about twice a year when the seasons change for a de-shedding treatment as she begins to shed her undercoat, and to have her tail/belly/toes trimmed up, and Gigi has always been great! The treatment saves me so much time and energy that would otherwise be spent vacuuming dog hair off of every surface in my house every day. We love it here! Highly recommend it! read more

Only issue I found was that they were unable to take credit cards, so I had to run around looking for an ATM. She gave me a discount for my trouble which was nice. I will take Jimbo back. read more

This company has been ordering shampoos & supplies from my company for years. On 9/5/2012 the owner called on my toll free 800# to place her 49th order, the first for her new Galveston location. As is my policy, the order shipped promptly & well packaged. I always give the owner time to pay her bill. Pretty much she tells me on what day to debit her bank account, it's usually in the 30 day range. Regarding her most recent order, I was to debit her account on 10/5/2012. After doing so her first payment was returned "INSUFFICIENT FUNDS" and a second attempt was returned "ACCOUNT CLOSED". I have written her several letters and left several messages on her voice mail, even expressing concern regarding her health. Reasonably I have requested a response, explanation, payment. She has not done so and has an OUTSTANDING BALANCE in excess of $420.00. Ask yourself if this is the type of business owner & person you'd like to have serving you & your pet. My furbaby was definitely taken care of and loved on by Gigi during her grooming visit and she came out looking fantastic!
