Old fashioned barbershop. Not a salon. No foo-foo here. Which is neither good nor bad, it's just how they operate. They seem to cater primarily to men. No foil in your hair here. There's a salon on the other side of the building if you want that. I was a walk-in, no problem. Weekday around lunchtime, so only 1 guy cutting hair. Apparently there are up to three sometimes. While I was in the chair, two other patrons showed up. They didn't have to wait long. The place seemed clean and orderly. I received a good haircut. He took his time, and paid attention to detail. My wife had no complaints after (she always critiques my cuts). It was a bit pricey ($24) if you're a patron of Supercuts or Fantastic Sam's, but not out of line with others like Sports Clips. No coupons or punch cards, either. A shave would have been extra. The guy was friendly (I spaced his name - older guy). No masking. He didn't wear one, and I couldn't because I was getting a haircut. Which is mostly in-line with the rest of the businesses in Gilbert. I will probably return here. He did a good job. read more

I'm in town and I desperately needed a haircut. My girlfriend was a few doors down in the antique shop when I found this shop. She "let" me get a haircut. An excellent haircut. I'm sorry I didn't get the female barber's name, but she did an incredible job of keeping the sides and back short while keeping the top long enough for my girlfriend to run her hands through. Great job of blending longer to short. $24 (cash only) was a bit steep, but it's quite a bit more than a "basic" haircut. If definitely go again if I'm in town and need a haircut. read more

I just moved to Gilbert and was looking for a walkable barber shop to get my haircut. I don't get anything fancy. Just a number 1 on the side with a high fade into a finger length on top just long enough to come over. There were 3 barbers but only 1 was taking walk inside. Felipe got me in after about a 20 minute wait. He was very friendly and most importantly did a great job on my hair. This place is cash only and haircuts are $19 now. Kinda pricey for a regular haircut, but I get it. Either way, $25 after tip ain't too shabby. I'll definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

My son (4 yrs old) and I had agreed that I was going to cut his hair this evening when we got home. We were walking in downtown Gilbert and passed the barber shop. I decided to start his summer off with a proper hair cut. I'm not horrible, he doesn't look like he had a bowl placed on his head and then his hair cut, I'm just not that experienced. The inside of the shop reminded me of my hometown barber shop, a western playing on the TV, and a comforting smell. Felipe put a booster chair in and started working on my son's hair. My son never sits still for me but he was much better this time. Felipe was fast and patient. All great qualities for a barber working on a short attention span child. My son looks great and much cooler. They only accept cash or check and you can't beat $15 for a hair cut this great! And the best part, according to my son was the lollipop afterwards! read more

I'm a plain sort of regular guy. I like good haircuts; I don't get frazzly faddish stuff. I don't like "sports" barber shops, or those ones in the mall with the sailboat-shaped curtains and lady barbers who all looked like gothic escapees. (Nice people, I'm sure, but this is all about looks and comfort.) This place makes me feel at home. The barbers take their time, talk to the customers (whom they generally know because this place has been in business for some decades), and do a very good, professional job. There's a TV for those who want to see whatever sport is on, but it's quiet. Come on in, have a seat. No need for a number; the customers know who was there before them and everyone is still country nice. Relax. They'll take their time--but not waste it. And you'll like your haircut.
