Gilde brewery is really great! Huge area with lots of seating. Indoor and outdoor options. TV's inside so watching sports is easy. I have had a lot of their beers and they are awesome. Tons of wine options on the menu as well. Recently had their charcuterie board and salad with fish. The menu is ok but a little bit more adventurous. Had to Google what some of the menu items are because it is very authentic to German beer house. Would suggest they update it a bit. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes and couldn't even get the attention of the two bar tenders working. They were completely buried making drinks for the floor staff. 5-6 bartenders would be needed. This review is solely for the beers as we didn't end up ordering any food. I came to Gilde with my husband late on Fathers' Day. All we really wanted to do was check out the beer menu & brewery since my husband is super fond of German beers. Me on the other hand...I only like sours, ales, or light beers like shandy. I was not in the mood to drink a whole glass of beer that day so we opted to drink a flight and share between the 2 of us. My husband had gotten 3 of his choices, and for the 4th choice, I had hoped to get a summer shandy. We were told that they ran out of that for the weekend so that was a bummer. They had no sours, ales, ciders, or anything similar in their inventory so it was super disappointing for me. Even the most IPA centric brewery in charlotte carries a sour for all those non-heavy beer drinks so that was a downer for me. Also, the parking? NON EXISTENT. It's so terrible. I don't plan on returning to Gilde for drinks, but would like to try their food one day! read more

The ambiance is amazing! They had live music, awesome decoration, and patio space for dining. It was beautiful! The food however was not good at all. I got the Ragu Langos which was simply unimpressive. I will say they restaurant seems to be very authentically German so that may be exactly how it should be made but it the fried bread base was very bland, I never found the taste of the white spread on top of that because there was so little of it and so much cold cheese sprinkled on top. My husband got the pretzel with cold cheese and brussel sprouts. The cold cheese didn't have much flavor either and the sprouts were just mushy without much flavor. I will return to try their beer and a sausage some day and update! I'm hopeful those are better! read more

You probably have to drink quite a bit of their beer to be able to enjoy some of their food because the quality was subpar and the portion size was lacking. What we got was a typical Sat night at a brewery oh wait, there were some people wearing lederhosen. No Zicke Zache Hoi Hoi Hoi... no chicken dance (which is annoying yet expected). I walked in tonight to grab a beer before going home for the evening. The listed hours online AND on the front door say they're open until 9pm on Sunday. 1yr anniversary didn't have the overall customer experience needed to elevate The Gilde amongst the elite breweries of Charlotte. The patrons inside sitting at the bar had to wait minimum 20/30 min just for a drink while only 2 bartenders were stationary. Most of the orders fulfilled were for outside patrons which caused confusion and frustration. The parking situation still hasn't improved after a year. The cultural experience will always be prevalent and top notch. The cuisine picturesque of what Lower Saxony represents. It has the potential just needs some adjustments. read more

What a cool spot! First and foremost the beers that I have tried here are fantastic. I'm not big into IPAs, I much prefer lagers and pilsners so it is nice to see a brewery that isn't IPA heavy and seems to stick to traditional German beers. The inside has a large bar and a separate dining area with a restaurant feel, while out front there are picnic tables if you prefer to hang outside. I will say the service could have been better but they are relatively new so I am willing to overlook this while they are hitting their stride. The food was delicious. I had a couple of sausages but can't for the life of me remember what they were called! I also had a pretzel and some beer cheese. After we ate we went inside to enjoy some foosball and as it got later we noticed they had changed the music to what sounded like German pop music. Really made it feel authentic. The original brewery in Germany was founded in 1546 and I can't help but think how cool it is that they decided on Charlotte for an American location. read more

We scheduled dinner for restuarant week. Got there and no one was greeting or seating at the door. I found someone and they said to seat yourself wherever. First time eating there. The reservation site noted our "resevations" were in the dinning room. Parking was horrible! Uber or Lyft if you don't want to deal with it. The music was sooo loud we could barely hear the wait staff or talk to one another. I asked if she would ask the manager to please turn down the music a little. The music sounded like it may have been reduced in volume a little but then was load again. The atmosphere was not great. I love music but the volume really hindered our time and conversation. Trivia began and it was pretty fun. It was great to have a break from the loud music. The food was ok. Beef stroganof meat was very tough. Everything had a good flavor. I usually give a a restuarant more than one chance. Not excited about trying this one again. read more

Entitled. Another restaurant that thinks they're doing a great favor serving you. They type your order in their little machine, the kitchen brings your overpriced dinner, overpriced beer, then they show up and default to a 25% tip on their little machine! They don't provide a paper receipt, even if requested. Oh, and they charge you tax on your tip! The beer and food was fine, but better service and better prices are available elsewhere. So to whoever programmed the machines, I wouldn't be writing this review if you had a 15% option for tip. Don't presume the server came to the table more than three times. read more

We were so looking forward to Gilde's opening! We planned our visit for their second weekend operating in CLT. We arrived right as they opened at 3 which was good because they were jamming by 4. We grabbed an on-street parking space but parking is really limited around the area. Good luck! Everyone ordered flights except me, the non-beer drinker. Limited choices for the non-beer drinker, 2 wines, soft drinks, water or sweet tea, no unsweet. Not terrible as they do specialize in beer! Only the snack menu is available from 3-5. Full menu after 5. Odd as we wanted meals but settled for snacks until 5. We were having the best time chatting, eating, and drinking. We had an awesome server named Andie. Everything was 5 star until 3:30...when they decided to BLAST Nirvana! OMG..the music was far too loud but the choice was even worse. Nirvana...what! A quick poll of other guests young and old was a resounding, why..this music is terrible. Our plans of a few nice hours sampling beers and enjoying a good meal came to a quick end. We were out the door by 4 as we couldn't take one more minute of the blaring Nirvana! We won't be back! Willkomen Gilde! I had the wonderful experience of being present for Gilde's grand opening today. The building is really nice - modern European feel, beautiful copper kettles, big outdoor space. And then there is the bier! They handed out samples of the Pilsner before the ribbon cutting which is my favorite (I've been buying Pilsner in cans at Total Wine.) We ordered pints of Red Rooster and also an order of the Obazda & Brezel which is a wonderful cheese spread served with a large pretzel. I encourage you to visit as soon as possible!! read more
