Starting off on a positive note, most of the food was really good. I got a chicken sandwich that was so good I forgot to take a picture of. My step dad also gave me some of his chicken and waffles which was really good. I ordered fries with my food and they came out cold though and when I asked the waitress for new ones she didn't bring them until we were ready to leave. It was somewhat busy so I understand the hold up but it was a side item and by that point I didn't want them anymore. The inside was kind of bland and the table was sticky. I don't like leaving bad reviews but if you want good food I would suggest it, but I think theres better spots out here for cheaper. read more

Truffled Hand Cut Fries (5/5): I like a crispier fry, but I enjoyed how much parm and garlic there was on it. The aoili was VERY good. BBQ Shrimp+Grits (4/5): Grits were good, shrimp was good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the BBQ sauce dumped on top. A dry rub bbq seasoning would've been much better. I looked up best brunch in the area when leaving church at Elevation Uptown, and Suffolk Punch Brewing came up. A few minutes later someone at church mentioned Suffolk for brunch, so I knew I had to try it. We arrived around 1:30 and were able to seat ourselves right away at the bar. There's plenty of seating in the main dining area, they have a huge heated tent seating area as well with lots of picnic benches. The bar had about 20 seats. They also had outdoor seating where you can bring your pets. Mia was our amazing bartender! We started with water. I ordered a Cinnamon Toast Crunch latter and my adult daughter ordered a pineapple/orange mimosa. The latte was absolutely amazing. We both ordered the single chicken biscuit which was huge. I ordered it as it comes, with a scrambled egg and sausage gravy. My daughter ordered hers with no sausage gravy and cheese. It comes with a side of fried potatoes. Every bite of everything was soooo good. It's a super cool place to hang out. To eat a good meal, to have beer or two, wine, a cocktail or coffee. What an amazing addition to SouthPark mall. The open floor plan where you can eat and drink while watching your children play is a super plus . The food here comes out with surprising speed. I don't think we waited longer than 2 minutes for anything we ordered via their mobile ordering site. Until they got busy, then we waited 15-20 minutes for a few things. Which isn't the end of the world, but the inconsistency did worry us. Beers are fantastic, dips are also swoon worthy. We did order one of their wraps (pictured) which was not wrapped well at all and literally fell apart in our hands. I had never seen coffee offered at a brewery before...so I ordered a hazelnut latte and it was GROSS. Literally tasted like sour milk and ice. I wish this place offered actual wait staff that stopped by our table to check in and see whether we were enjoying ourselves. If that had happened, we would've voiced our concerns about a number of things. But the wait staff here is not wait staff at all, they're just food runners that take items from point A to point B. Which made us wonder what exactly we were tipping for. We would have rathered picked up our own food and saved ourselves 20%. Not sure I'll be back unless I was invited to. read more

Great food, refreshing drinks, and relaxing outdoor vibes! We had such a great time at Suffolk Punch Brewing in South End! I came with my daughter and a friend, and everything from the food to the service made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. I ordered the Black & Blue Burger, cooked medium and wow, it was absolutely delicious. I usually add a fried egg to my burgers, but this time I didn't, and I'm glad I skipped it. The burger was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and topped with beautifully caramelized onions. Easily one of the best I've had! My daughter had the classic cheese pizza. She really enjoyed it and even saved two slices to snack on later that evening. My friend got the fish and chips and especially loved the fries. I also had fries with my burger. They were a bit too salty for my taste (and I'm not usually a ketchup person), but dipping them in ketchup did the trick. Next time, I'll just ask for them with no salt. We also shared a mimosa carafe with pineapple juice. First time doing mimosa with pineapple and it was a hit! We sat outside, near the building in a shaded area with a large fan nearby, which kept us comfortable. The outdoor seating is self-serve, so you scan the QR code on the table to order, and the food is brought out to you. Even though it's self-service outside, a friendly waitress checked in on us and was happy to answer questions and offer recommendations. We also went inside when we first arrived. It's very clean, modern, and well air-conditioned, so that's definitely a great option too. Overall, the food was great, the vibe was laid-back, and the service was warm and helpful. I joined some friends up at Suffolk Punch Brewing in South End on New Year's day. They wanted to do "brunch". I had already had breakfast but wanted to meet up and I was willing to check this place out as I had never been. Unfortunately I wasn't a big fan. I couldn't sit in the booths they had, nor could I sit in the chairs as they had railings on them. So we tried to sit outside under the tent at a bench but the bench seats wouldn't move so we finally on the fourth try found a table that had bench seats you could move away from the table. Everyone else was able to sit fine but if your a larger person I caution you about going here. To cap the day I left my phone in my car and apparently you have to scan the QR code and order off whatever website it takes you too and then the servers will bring your order out. Two of my friends ordered biscuit sandwiches. One had a nice piece of fried chicken on it and the other looked like bacon egg and cheese. Both biscuits rapidly disintegrated as they tried to eat them. Saying they were very dry and crumbly. Another friend got a apple french toast platter. He said it was ok but for $18 he expected better. Sitting out in the tent was loud and it was hard to hear our own conversations plus the sun was beating on us from the clear plastic tent sides. So unfortunately I did not have the best experience there. Your mileage may differ of course. read more

Suffolk Punch is such a staple to the South End neighborhood. I love that they use the tent over the outside seating in the winter now too. The food and drinks here are always fresh and fast. I stopped by here on New Year's Day for brunch and I was very pleased. They have so many options for nonalcoholic beverages to choose from but I decided to order a Diet Coke. We started with the truffled hand cut fries for the table and I was obsessed. The dip that came with them was so good too. For my meal I had the small baby kale Caesar and I added fried chicken to it. The size was perfect for brunch and all the ingredients were so fresh! So much potential. So much room to improve. Suffolk Punch did not meet expectations unfortunately. I visited on a Friday (shoutout to the guest trivia company - the trivia was cute!) Parking in this area is a nightmare on weekends so be mindful of this if you're driving. The cocktails are okay/decent and the actual space is nice. Love that the outdoor area is dog friendly. I ordered fries and cauliflower bites and both were pretty terrible. The fries were almost burned and tasted like old frying oil. The cauliflower was also overcooked and over-battered. We ordered electronically (via barcodes on the table and such) and my order mysteriously got knocked off the queue so we ended up having to get up and ask + wait for an hour for the food. I'd love for the kitchen/menu to refresh things a bit and also for the service to improve. For the prices - it's not worth it to me. If you're sitting at a bar having a drink, especially if you live nearby - this place can work for you. read more

Today was a "day" at work so I needed to get out and have a beer. And after driving around South End behind stupid Charlotte drivers, I definitely needed a beer. Suffolk Punch isn't at all hard to find, right off South Tryon and they have a dedicated parking lot. So that's just awesome. We seated ourselves at the table and Erin came by to take our drink order. A mocktail for Mrs. K. and a pilsner for me and when she returned with the drinks, we ordered a "flatbread" that really is a pizza. It did take a bit considering the restaurant was almost empty but it was worth it. Burrata and cherry tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We were here for at least an hour and I feel a whole bunch of destressed. Will need to return as their Monday night special is half off on burgers! Great first experience here! Walked in on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. The first thing to note was the decor indoor and outdoor and the brewing set which is open and visible and really cool to see and walk by. Seating is comfortable and varied. We were able to sit where ever as it was not very full. We chose bench seating. The food was amazing. We ordered the Burrata-Rita flatbread and the bang bang cauliflower. Also ordered the blueberry pie cider which was delicious and refreshing. The cauliflower was the best I've had ever. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. We were checked in on multiple times and our server made sure to say goodbye when he came off his shift. Both servers provided great service. I decided that enough time had passed and gave this place another shot while visiting Charlotte, this time for brunch. I'm sorry to say it was worse than last time! The coffee was sour and the cream curdled in our cups, biscuits were chewy and tasted stale, the bacon was half soggy, half crispy, and their QR code ordering system feels impersonal and rushed. You conveniently order from your table via a QR code and your food and drinks are delivered right to you. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was good but I probably would order it without the slaw next time...just too messy. My fries came out warm not hot. I found this disappointing since there were hardly many patrons in the restaurant. My guests had chicken and shrimp tacos. Both were satisfied with their orders. Ambience is typical of a brewery. This is a great stop along the Charlotte rail trail. Great pedestrian walkway along the light rail. If you live here, you already know. But, if you don't live here, you can take the light rail and it stops right in the area of Suffolk Punch. So, a great location. It was a hot day in late July, and we did a fair amount of walking along the rail trail and was getting hungry. SP has brunch until 3pm on weekends, so that was what we looked forward to. We had good service and decent choices for lunch. Some items are not available on the regular menu, so keep that in mind during weekend brunch times. We ordered corned beef hash, eat a peach salad with grilled chicken, and the veggiest burger. Iced tea here is nitro black tea and tasty, but not refillable. We paid for a second round of iced tea. It is a lively steampunk atmosphere with a large selection of tap beers. They have a very large outdoor seating area, but with the heat this day, we sat inside. Food is very good and they have decent portions. The prices are a little higher than we like, $70 plus tax and tip for 3 people, but you can't beat the location with the lite rail right there. read more

Decided to try another brewery while in town for work. This one stuck out from the other reviews on Yelp for both beer and food. It's tucked away on a side street, but it does have a decent gravel parking lot. There is another brewery in this area across the street and plenty of warehouses and unassuming brick buildings. This building is also very unassuming from the front. Once I walked in, I was greeted by the brewery kettles all the way down to the host stand. Tonight was a seat yourself night on a Tuesday. I was greeted within a few minutes by a pleasant bartender, and I ordered a flight of beer/cider to test out the options. These are ample pours delivered in a cool wooden glass holder. My choices: Orange Mango Cider- so good!; Pulp Prescription - really good and I am not an IPA girl, but I could do a few of these; Tropical Tree Tops - a very fruit heavy punch but good option; and CLT Blueberry - my least favorite and wouldn't order again. The decor here is open, airy, and has plenty of fun details. There is also a great and large outdoor area, but I opted for inside on a near 100 degree day. Tuesdays are $10 large platter of chicken and fries which is perfect beer tasting food for me! I got them tossed in the buffalo sauce, but there are some other great options. Tenders were large and nicely sauced. Fries are pretty basic but not bad. The food menu seems nicely curated with some special items. When back in town, I will absolutely be back! Such a delightful way to spend a few hours while waiting for a friend to land at the nearby-ish airport. My other gal pal and I walked in on--what felt like--the hottest day of the year. It was 4pm and right before the Friday happy hour crowd flooded in; so we were instructed to seat ourselves. We found a comfy booth and I ordered fruited ale "Jawripper - raspberry birthday cake" ($10) followed by a glass of the Pineapple Raspberry Cider $6.5. The description said "semi-sweet," but it was sweeter than I expected. I shoulda stuck with the fruited ale; and you can top it off with prosecco to make it a "beermosa" for $3 add on. My galpal and I also shared a giant pretzel ($10) served with Dusseldorf mustard and their daydream deer cheese. For the GF-people like me (well, 99% of the time): The Suffolk Seltzers, ciders, fries, side salad, and tacos made with corn tortillas are the only GF options on the menu. This is my go to after work happy hour spot with my team. The commute from Uptown after work is not too bad - traffic is light around 5pm going into SouthEnd. There is free street parking on the road, I was lucky to find a spot right next to the brewery. When I walked in there were a few tables inside but I prefer to sit outside in the back. The backyard is a large space with TV, lights, multiple long tables that fits a party of 8-12. They have QR codes on the table that you can scan and see the entire menu. They have a very big selection of drinks, my favorites are the margaritas and the mules. They have a large selection of cocktails, beers, ciders, non-alcoholic drinks and a lot more. My frequent drink is the Kentucky Mule and the bartender mixes it perfect every time. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a good after work spot for drinks and small bites. Also, if you are interested in taking a stroll after drinks there is full access to the Rail Trail from the back yard. read more
