There is also a neighbourhood pub attached to this building, but this review is for the cold beer and wine store. The inside is pretty plain - no points for the decor. The selection is decent, but nothing special. Beers are a little bit more than government pricing, but the markup is lower than other places I've been to. Staff were friendly and helpful, and were able to answer my questions. One last thing - there are mantraps for both the entrance and exit doors, so don't try to rob the place. With that said, it must be amusing for the staff and police if someone ever tried.

At least on the products I buy, their mark up over government stores is minimal, and sometimes is even cheaper! When they were doing inventory they noted my cigarette brand was a very slow seller, so they delisted them. I contacted them and advised they were the brand I smoked, and they apologized and put them right back on their order list, even though I am probably the only person who buys them!! And if you go, make sure to ask them about 'points'...

Extremely unprofessional and rude service -- by Tim and Jashan…read more I was just at this location and had an incredibly frustrating experience that absolutely needs to be addressed. I provided two valid forms of ID to the cashier: a government-issued driver's license with a photo, and my MSP card. I fully understand that two pieces of ID are required, with at least one containing a photo -- and that's exactly what I provided. My driver's license fulfilled the photo requirement, and the MSP card was offered as the second piece. Still, I was told that the MSP card was not acceptable. What made the situation worse -- and frankly, unacceptable -- was the rude and dismissive attitude from the cashier. Instead of calmly explaining the reasoning behind the policy, he repeatedly said, "Give me a debit or credit card", as if that was the only valid option. I was simply trying to understand how a credit card, which has no photo or government affiliation, was considered acceptable -- but a government-issued health card was not. That makes no logical sense, and I was not arguing, just asking a basic, reasonable question. Rather than answering or attempting to explain, he shut me down, talked over me, and refused service. I wasn't being aggressive or confrontational -- I was being respectful, and just trying to understand the logic. I've worked in retail sales myself, and I know how hard the job is and how important it is to treat a fellow worker with respect. I would never speak to someone the way I was spoken to today. Unfortunately, both Tim and Jashan showed zero professionalism, no customer service skills, and no interest in resolving the situation respectfully. I even pointed out that I've been a regular customer here for a long time and offered to pull up my info. I even made a light-hearted comment about how much money I've spent here (I have coming to this place for the last 3 years). That, too, was ignored. I was treated as if I had no standing or value as a customer, and frankly, it felt humiliating. And to be clear -- I am not some drug addict from Whalley. I am a paying, respectful customer, and I expect to be treated accordingly. Today, I was not. One final note to management: Tim should absolutely not be in a customer-facing role. He clearly lacks the communication skills and attitude required to deal with people respectfully. Perhaps he's better suited to stocking coolers in the back where he won't be pushing long-time customers away. I would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with the owner about this. The service I received today was not just disappointing -- it was offensive and completely avoidable.

After the hubby was disappointed to find out there was a power outage at our usual watering hole,…read morewe found ourselves at the Green Timbers Pub instead. The place is located at one end of a small strip mall, adjacent to a liquor store with plenty of parking on a weeknight. Interior was larger than expected because the pub is not easily viewable from the main streets. Lots of high top seating, a decent amount of regular tables, and an insane amount of TV's along one wall, plus a couple of darts boards. You could probably watch every sports game available without having to turn your neck. A very nice selection of food and drinks for a neighbourhood pub. Hubby had British Style Fish & Chips, but portion wise they looked like they went light on the fries. I opted for a Chicken Caesar Wrap with grilled chicken breast, and easy on the dressing since we both decided to order a pint each of their house beers. He said the beer wasn't very good and in all honesty I thought the beer was okay in the same way that I don't have high expectations for house wines. It was drinkable and that was good enough for me. Maybe it was getting later in the evening, but at some point between the waitress and the kitchen, my order changed. Not much, but suddenly I got the wraps with chicken tenders, and a regular amount of Caesar salad dressing and not for the other available customization I had chosen. It wasn't as if I asked for a special customization for my wrap...but I decided it wasn't worth the effort to complain or ask that they remake the food. It is as you would expect of a neighbourhood pub in Surrey. Decent prices, free parking, and a place where you can be as loud and rambunctious with your friends and have a good time.
