This place has me and my friends purring, not in weird way. Even more so that pets are allowed! They rotate the food trucks and today was Lumpia Luv. Some others they have are BBQ, taco, filipino, and pizza. From Lumpia Luv I had scrumptious pork lumpia's with angel hair noodles and one of my pals had rice and chicken. This food truck was owned by a lovely wife and husband who were quite pleasant to speak to. Going into the Beach Cat brewery made me feel as if I was a coconut in a palm tree enjoying the light breeze and good company. The ambiance was beautiful there was indoor and outside seating with games available. It was a gorgeous place with an amazing view. I would recommend this place! read more

This brewery was very close to the condo resort we were staying at for the week so we finally popped in. Easy street parking across the street. Great view of the sound. We entered to a pretty full patio and inside tap room. I liked that they offered indoor, patio and covered patio seating. I got a good chuckle when I started glancing around for a restroom sign....spotted an arrow sign for... litterboxes. hahaha I opted for a Calico Jack Porter... wasn't really a fan of the flavor but....that's just me. What a great place! We are staying in the resort next door, and we're please (and surprised) to find a craft brewery so close. The taproom is quaint. The outside seating is plentiful and comfortable. We met one of the owners. Nice guy. Very knowledgeable and informative (and friendly). I was able to try several beers before selecting my choice (ok, two). I was also able to find/buy a few cans to take home with me. I will say, the quality of the beer belies the location. In a small, sleepy town one could expect a lower quality brewery. Not this place. High quality all the way. You could relocate this brewery to Seattle, Portland or even Bend and see them being competitive. Come check out this treasure. read more

After a refreshing walk on the beach, I visited Beach Cat Brewing in Birch Bay. Let me share my thoughts on this cozy craft brewery. They have something for everyone: sours, porters, light lagers, hazy IPAs, and they will even have slushies soon (my fav)! The unique variety kept me intrigued. I settled on their Pilsner since I prefer light beers. If you're in the area, swing by and raise a glass to good company, great brews and views of the water! They are dog friendly, and they offer treats to all the pups which my pup highly enjoyed and became best friends with the employee. She was very kind and the service was great! They don't have a kitchen but there was a food truck in their parking lot right outside and I gave them a try. Lumpia Luv was there. There is also a Beach Bar next door where I'm sure you can grab food there too when they are open. They have plenty of outside seating which is great when it's a nice day out. read more

This spot is a risk gem. Was there during the weekend before Christmas to visit family in the area. This was next door and a quick walk away. Walking in as walking into your local bar anywhere. It was one of those first sunshine days of the spring, so on my way home from work, I made my first stop to Beach Cat after hearing about it from co-workers. I had my laptop with me and a beer and some work in the sun sounded ideal. Upon arriving, I realized my dreams of a seat in the sun might have been a bit ridiculous as the entire patio was already packed! They had big picnic tables with a see through cover around to protect patrons from the wind coming off the water. I went inside to order and found a small table that was perfect for me. I got the beach blonde beer which was so good I had to bring home one of their cool designed growlers for my boyfriend to try! They do not do food here, but have menu's for the bar next door which looks like your typical pub food with good prices. Can't wait to go back and try more of their tap list! read more

I've known about Beach Cat for a little while. But the pandemic set in and that derailed any trip to Blaine or Bellingham for almost two years. Usually we make a trip up this way once a year and glad to have done it again from several weekends ago. Beach Cat is in a beautiful spot! It's right across the road from Birch Bay. I'm not too sure on the technical address if the location would be a Blaine address or a Birch Bay address because I saw it as both. It was Autumn and not very busy in this area but I'm sure in the summer it can get very busy! I had one beer at Beach Cat. I was in the mood for something a bit heavier and darker. I didn't see a porter or a stout available so I got their Dopplebock. It was very good! It had a malty, sweet flavor with a brown sugar feature which was a nice touch. The taproom is cool, bright and cheerful and totally a business you'd see along a beach. Fun t shirts as well as other merchandise which I easily succumbed to in the form of a purchased t shirt. Beach Cat was a lot of fun and would love to return! read more

I've driven by Beach Cat Brewing several times, but somehow never stopped in. That all changed today, and I'm glad it did. So many other dining/drinking establishments have shut down their covered out door areas, but not Beach Cat! The only downside is that there is no food available, but you are welcome to bring your own. There appears to be a good restaurant right next door, but they don't open until 4:00 (is what I heard). But I digress. I am unapologetically a malt guy, not a hops guy, and so many breweries have only a token malty beer on the menu. Not Beach Cat! Today I am trying an Amber Ale, not to heavy, but still great body and flavor. Next is the Winter Ale. A touch darker, and is that a hint of cloves? I typically dislike flavored beers, but this is so subtle, and perfect for the season, I LOVE it! Okay, moving on to the Stout. A solid black/brown in the glass with layers of flavor. Juuuust enough hope to add a bit of brightness to the glass. And somehow a hint of smokiness that elicits memories of summer campfires (without the smoke in your eyes). Here's where I cheated. The tasting flight had five beers, but they *only* have four, so I opted for two Doppel Bocks. I am unaware of the magic that goes into making a Doppel Bock, but it is fully realized here. No, not just the 9.7% alcohol, but the richness and depth of flavor. And a bit dangerous, as it goes down easier than ambrosia. So very seductive! Have I found a new favorite brewery? Maybe! Wish it were a bit closer to home base, but now I have one more compelling reason to visit Birch Bay! read more

They opened in August of 2029and already has a sweet selection of beers and ciders that do not disappoint. The Smash Cat is surprisingly malty at the end as an IPA which is unusual. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Alley Cat Amber with a smooth caramel flavor that is easy on the pallet and utterly crushable. This place is worthy of your time and dollars. read more

We were meandering our way from B'ham to Semiahmoo on a cold and clear day, and trying a beer or two here seemed like a smart idea. With the heaters going in their enclosed patio and the sun on the bay, one shared beer turned into two. The beer tenders were super friendly and helpful. We had the Sgt. Tibbs Hazy Pale Ale and the Crookshanks Pumpkin Ale, and tasted the Bagheera Black lager, Purroast Pilsner and Catastrophe Vol. 2 and enjoyed all of them. They also offer ciders, wine and hard seltzers for non-beer peeps. There was a great Mexican food truck (didn't get name and now I can't find it!) in their parking lot, so we got birria street tacos and a burrito to go and our dinner with our own drinks at Semiahmoo was all set! I also want to mention they have a great selection of fun merch for anyone looking for some local flavor to holiday gifts for beer lovers and cat lovers!
