Worst doctor's office experience I've ever had. All he did was spout conspiracy theories and alternative medicine BS for 15 minutes (like 5G causing cancer), then had the audacity to refuse to bill it with insurance properly and charged me $120. Fought with them for weeks to rebill it or refund it and they wouldn't. Front desk staff is also terrible about relaying messages or getting back to you. I have been a patient of Dr. Shane Gilliam since December 2016. I have never once had a problem with his staff, and I truly feel that Dr. Gilliam is a great doctor who genuinely cares about his patients . After being a long time patient I am absolutely mortified today, and quite frankly shocked and hurt, by the behavior shown to me by his new office manager. Two weeks ago as I was checking out and scheduling my next appointment I am made aware by his staff of a balance due to an "insurance deductible issue" from back in November of 2016. I questioned why it took 6 months to be made aware of such a balance and made a payment to the balance with a promise to pay the remaining balance in 3 months time. The receptionist told me this would not be an issue and I respectfully obliged to pay the balance within the allotted time. Last week I called and made an appointment for the following Thursday at noon. Two days before i receive my text message alert, as always, asking to confirm my appointment and received a text back with confirmation from the text service. The following day, today, I receive a call two hours before they close the day before my appointment from one of their staff members telling me that they have a new office manager and have now "changed policies" and require that my full balance be paid before I can be seen. I told the staff member the exact conversation I had with them just two weeks prior, I told them I would make a payment as promised and was met with the some rude answers and they even suggested to me that I go "borrow the money from somebody." When I said that wasn't possible they rushed off the phone and transferred me to the new office manager. Immediately and without hesitation she began to aggressively repeating their new policy and told me how if I didn't pay my balance in full I couldn't be seen and therefore couldn't get my refill for my medication that I need and take on a daily basis. After trying multiple times to make her aware of my previous visit and the arrangement suggested by their office to pay my balance in full just two weeks before she belittled me and spoke down to me in a threatening manner accusing me of being too poor and suggested that I was "taking advantage" of Dr. Gilliam and that "people like me" are the reason that the clinic would go out of business. After a few minutes she told me that I was wasting her time and that she didn't have time and would talk to Dr. Gilliam about calling me in a refill for the medication since I couldn't pay the balance in full hours before my appointment. Thirty minutes later I received a call from her telling me that a 30 day prescription had been called into my pharmacy and that a "dismissal letter" would be sent to me dismissing me as a patient because if someone gets mad and doesn't want to pay is not welcome at their practice. I HAVE NEVER been treated so poorly in my life by a medical practice before. I was bullied, berated, and degraded and nowhere near professional. The doctor is great but I only suggest using this practice if you enjoy being talked down to or enjoy being humiliated and reminded of how poor you are. Patients enter at your own risk I never write reviews but was treated so disgustingly that others needed to be aware of what they were getting themselves into. read more
