If you're looking for a great date-night pizza spot, this is one of our favorites. We've been here multiple times, and it's consistently excellent. My wife and I always split things the same way: she gets a slice of The Angry, and I go with The Pepp. The combination of spicy pepperoni and hot honey is absolutely incredible! It's so good you might even catch me licking the plate. Do yourself a favor and pair your pizza with the Lambrusco. The sparkling red wine complements the spice of the pepperoni perfectly. We also never skip the Caesar salad, which is generously sized and topped with a mountain of freshly shredded Parmesan. My only complaint has nothing to do with the food. Serving everything on paper plates with plastic forks feels completely out of step with the restaurant's otherwise great atmosphere. First time here. Not my favorite pizzeria. First, their menu was very limited. Pizza, pizza, and pizza. Did I mention pizza? I asked the cashier if they offer calzones, he replied, "No, just pizza." Very disappointing. I was expecting a lot more and a true Italian pizzaria. As for the pizza, it was decent hut not great. Second, zero ambiance. Tables and chairs thrown together, and that's it. The music was too loud to where we couldn't hear each other. They only have two bathrooms which seemed to be occupied most of the time. Way too many customers to only have two bathrooms. Perfect slice of pizza. I got the Angry, crunchy on the bottom and held up well when picked up without being burnt. And the crust was amazing, chewy and soft in the center and just slightly sweet. Can tell it was fresh and kneaded well. It actually had a decent kick to it. That plus a chop salad stuffed me beyond full. Next time I'll have to bring someone else to split the salad with. I had some time to check out Gimani when I was around Coronado Mall area, so I decided to stop by to check this place out since it's been on my list for so long. The place was hopping! There were lines of customers (lunch crowds!) even during weekdays. What I thought was amazing was...I felt this establishment had completely turned around the business location from when it was another pizza brand before Gimani took over for sure! The crowd and good, lively music was there...and it vibe was clean, modern and bright! I tried the White Lemon pizza, fountain drink and the gelato...and to be honest, the White Lemon pizza was just ok. I thought it looked better than it tasted (probably because it was a little too cheeesy/plain tasting to me vs. normal pizza with some proper sauce!). That said, the ice cream and the choice of fountain drink was great! They had your typical sodas and a couple of tea/fruit-based refreshment to try as well. Overall, the taste was find..it wasn't anything way too outstanding. We visited this location while passing through Albuquerque on our way to Durango, CO. I was super excited to have the pizza flight as it was excellently priced and my partner accidentally ordered two. We were so stocked with pizza it was kind of hilarious. The lemon pizza was quite interesting in the best way possible. I definitely have a sweet tooth and enjoyed the flavor profile of that one. I tried this place with a friend and my kids. You order at the front then take a number, and they bring to you. The menu is small and to the point, which I appreciate. I had the spicy pepperoni (I can't recall the name) and added the hot honey drizzle on it. The kids had the Margherita pizza. For young kids, you only need one slice which you can cut in half. I also ordered the gelato for the kids. For the price it's a little small, but they enjoyed it. The salads are also very big, and could be shared within a group. On to the food - our Caesar salad was average - nothing really spectacular about it. Couldn't even distinguish a taste of a Caesar dressing at all. The best thing about the salad were the croutons but I am still glad we tried it. All the portions are really big so just ordering the pizza flight for 2 people was way too much food. The salad was definitely not needed. The pizza was good but I wouldn't take a special trip down there to have it again. I'm glad I got to taste it and see what all the hype is about but for me personally it just didn't hit the spot. I finally got the chance to go try the pizzas! The slices really are absolutely huge and quite tasty. Nice crust, probably better as a fork and knife affair but does hold up just fine if you decide to try to lift it up and stuff it in your mouth. I tried the margarita and the white lemon. The lemon was interesting, it is a bit like lemon merengue, and had a good amount of lemon. Personally I would have liked more lemon and less sweetness - guessing that was the ricotta, which is delicious in and off itself though I'm not sure what else I would offset it with. The food came out super fast and the counter staff was friendly. It is a somewhat smaller space so I'd imagine when the patio isn't open, busy times would be quite busy, but it's also a nice patio space. I'll have to try it in warmer weather. read more

First experience today, and I look forward to returning to try the gelato. Friend and I split the pizza flight and a Caesar salad. Before our order was brought out (which couldn't have been much more than 5 minutes - service was very quick), a server came and told us that they ran out of arugula. She made sure we wanted basil as a substitute (of course!), and then midway through the meal, she returned to say they had found more, and voila - a 5th slice! We could only eat 3 of the 5 pieces, but we crushed the Caesar salad (piled high with Parm). The restaurant has a wall of windows, which makes for lots of natural sunlight during lunch hours, and there are cushioned booths if you (like me) try to avoid the hard metal chairs when dining out. Highlights were the pepperoni slice with hot honey and burrata AND the service. The staff is young, friendly, super polite... I can't remember the last time the servers stood out like they do at Gimani. Whoever is responsible for hiring and training deserves a raise. read more

A foodie friend told me to get in here shortly after Gimani opened this spring, and I kind of blew her off. I remembered the place with a similar menu that had been here before (the first in this space after the remodel), I thought about the whole "slice parlor" concept that's getting to be old hat these days and I thought, "Someday." But I never really rushed - I mean, haven't we seen this again and again, all over the country? Big mistake. I should have gotten in here right away: Gimani is WAY better than I expected. Yeah, it's pizza, and it's in the same by-the-slice, "add hot honey, add ricotta" theme that's been going in bigger markets on this side of the pond for years now. But it's better. I had an "Angry" and a special Calabrian pepper slice. Gimani's dough is remarkably flavorful - seriously. The crisp on the slices is just so - a thin crust your teeth note as they break, and then a soft tear. The sauce is wonderfully flavorful - not the traditional stuff from Back East, for sure, but a wonderful gentle subnote of garlic that pushes you into happiness. The toppings are sized right and proportioned right. The cheese is right - tasty, but not overwhelming your experience. Balance - the whole thing has balance, but somehow you note and enjoy every bit of it. (Bravo!) And the service is delightful - friendly people who do a great job of making sure you have a good time and get your money's worth . . . and that you know your visit was appreciated. Wow. (It must be a great place to work - the spirit of the staff was really something. I'd urge you to consider tipping heavier than normal when you order on entry, because if you don't you may well feel bad about it when you see how great the staff is.) The room is clean and modern and has lots of different seating. There's a great patio outside which is probably a wonderful place on warmer evenings than the one when I visited. Order at the front; they bring it to you. (And check on you, over and over.) Fountain drinks you get yourself. I didn't have any alcohol, but I noticed Gimani has a nice selection of beers and some wine. Heavy pours were apparent in the wine glasses I saw. The salads were quite large (I need to try one next time). It got quite busy during a weeknight supper but there were always still tables (bussed immediately upon a party's departure) and the noise level was never terrible - even when a family with a lot of kids sat near us.
