Horrible experience. I went based on the great reviews. As soon as I sat in Gino's chair the attitude started. I should have left but I wanted to give it a chance. He applied the color and half way through he dropped the brush on the floor and picked it up and continued to use the brush he had dropped to complete the color process. I didn't feel comfortable saying anything at that point even though I was furious. What was I supposed to do leave with half of my head uncolored. Also, he applied water to distribute color. I have never seen that in my life. He didn't try to make the situation better at all, no conversation at all it was like I was a bother. I was going to get my hair cut but after he dropped the brush and used the dirty brush I decided against the cut. After he washed off the color I told him I was not getting a cut after all. He looked at me and said OK. I then told him why- I told him he dropped the brush and continued to use the dirty brush to finish the color and that is a no no. He just stared at me and asked if I would like him to brush my hair I said NO. So i paid and left. Of course I did not tip him. I didn't think I should have paid for the horrible svc I received but I didn't want to cause a scene. This is definitely not an upscale salon nor does he have the experience everyone claims he has. There's no doubt that Gino's Salon is very experienced at cutting hair, especially complicated styles. Their website does a great job illustrating their expertise and they dont fall short of that. However, i would just say that if you're looking for a basic haircut and not doing anything drastic, its probably not worth paying $60. This is definitely a premium salon. I went last year b/c of a special promotion and they gave me a great haircut, but then again i only asked them to cut 2 inches off the base and that's it. I'm not discrediting them at all, just think its worth doing some light cost benefit analysis ahead of time. read more

I would not recommend this salon to my worst enemy. I read several negative reviews before going, but I went anyway as I bought a Groupon coupon. This was a mistake. My hair cut is uneven! There are missed areas. How difficult is it to cut in a straight line? When I went to check out, I was told that they would not accept my Groupon coupon as the coupon was only valid for a Senior Stylist. How is a person to know what level the stylist is that is cutting your hair? Now I have to pay extra to get another hair cut to fix my bad hair. I learned a hard lesson. One, read previous reviews. Finally someone I can trust to do my hair! After my hair stylist moved out of state I've had to deal with having my hair literally burnt off, bad haircuts, and terrible Customer Service at other salons. I am so grateful that my friend referred him to me. My experience has been nothing but positive. My hair has been in the best shape it's been in years. I feel confident that he will give me good advice on what works best for my hair type. I also loved the shampoo person. I felt like I spent the morning at a Spa. I have thick hair and it is a lot of work to style. I felt like my money was well spent. He also understands good Customer Service. I travel a lot and he is very willing to work with my schedule. I first went to Gino's salon for a cut and color about a month ago and am just now sitting down to write a review. Even though its been a good while since having my hair done, it still looks great! Times before when I have had my hair done at other places, after a few weeks it would begin to show unevenness, the color would fade and split ends would set in. Since going to Gino it still looks like I had it done yesterday! I was needing to re-color my hair pretty badly and being new to the area, not knowing where to go, decided on this place since its less than a mile from my house. The salon is easy to find and has a nice clean feel once inside. Though I did not request him, I was fortunate enough to actually have Gino himself as my stylist. Before the consultation he offered me espresso, water or whatever else I may have wanted to drink; he was very polite and personable. Walking into the salon, I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do with my hair, I just knew it needed help. So when he asked me what I wanted done I just said "Do whatever you think would look best!" He took a look at my hair and within about a minute was already adding color. The whole color process took about 90 minutes and after he had it blown out did I realize what a fabulous job he had done. I was so pleased with it that I told him to go ahead and give me a cut and style as well! Now, I had somewhat longer hair that I've been growing out for about 2 years now, but after seeing how pretty the color looked I wasn't worried about him cutting it too short, I trusted that he would make it look nice. When he was completely finished with my hair, I promise, it was the best style out I had ever received from a salon! I'll also note that while styling me he didn't use gobs of products or over heat my hair with curling or flat irons, he just used a blow dryer on low heat! The finished product certainly did not look as effortless as it actually was for him. All in all, I have never been more satisfied with a hair cut than I was with experiencing Gino's salon. My friends tell me my hair looks wonderful and perfect strangers have honestly stopped me in stores asking me where I get my hair done. I look forward to returning again! They are very professional with reasonable prices, always a plus! read more

I am completely satisfied with Gino. I wanted a professional colorist to change my hair from brown to deep red. I am not a hair stylist, but I have had my fair share of colors done before, where I can say red is not an easy color to apply. He was professional, knowledgeable and honest. He went above and beyond to make sure my hair would look how I wanted. Sometimes you as a client need to understand that it also depends on your hair and how it behaves with chemicals, and I went all in knowing that the final result could've been unsatisfactory, but it was Gino who made it happen with his expertise and skill. I would also like to give kudos to the shampoo guy, for it was the best shampoo and scalp/neck massage I've ever had in my life, and I was a LMT. I went to him for a hair color correction and was skeptical because of the damage the previous person did and the colors I had. He listened to what I wanted and gave me my options and told me the truth of what could be done. I had a bad ombre and we decided to do a all over dark tone to conceal the colors I had. His blending of color made the end result look amazing! He also cut most of the damaged ends off and left me a manageable lengthy. Overall l I left very pleased with the results and the salon experience I just wish I had found him sooner! Found Gino's via Groupon and was assigned Jeffrey as my colorist and stylist. My color going in was natural brown w/all over blond highlites, I just needed the roots touched up to cover the new growth. He did NOT do highlites as requested or even blond color, instead opting to spatter paint dark brown on the roots and all over my hairline, ears and one cheek - which he haphazardly wiped up with a towel. The cut was more of him simply flicking scissors around the perimeter and then blow drying the whole thing from the top of my crown forward. My hair is just below shoulder length and he accomplished this dynamic duo in under an hour. I got out before he could do something I couldn't fix. I will not only never return, but I'm sharing this review EVERYWHERE as a warning for others! read more

I have been a long time client of Gino and would follow him anywhere. Recently he moved from Capelli salon to Beltline and I have never been happier with a hair stylist in my entire life. Gino is so talented and alwasys makes me feel beautiful whenever I leave his chair. Gino has a way of knowing exactly what color looks best on a person and thinks of things to do for me that I never even thought of but so glad he did! I love his creativity and I am so grateful that he listens to my needs and always "nails it" every time he takes care of me. I have never once left feeling less than completely thrilled with my hair. Gino's prices are extremely reasonable and he always makes sure he fits me in his busy schedule quickly even if it means coming in early even before the regular shop opens. Gino is the one I've been looking for all my life! Not to marry (that's too easy) but to color and cut my hair! After trying many others over many years, I finally found someone who understood what I wanted and was able to give it to me on my first visit. I found him by looking up Best Hair Colorists in Dallas and going to his website, which is so well done. I texted him what I wanted (platinum white) and he immediately texted me back asking me to send him a photo of me and a photo of what I wanted. I did that and he wrote back that it would be no problem. I saw him the following week, and the rest is history.
