ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD and it was by the owner himself! He approached the carryout area rude as heck and called me a liar about messing up the order. I simply asked for a refund and he kept talking back at me. I asked for a refund receipt and he said he couldn't give me one. I said he might want to work on his customer service skills bcs I have been nothing but polite to you. I love Giordanos! Went to school in Chicago and had them all, Giordanos is THE best! They make the best deep dish in the country! My favorite part are the leftovers. Not many pizzas reheat quite like theirs! Also, COVID-19 side note, they've done a great job making curbside seamless! I ordered online, pulled up through their corrals and they brought it out! Make sure you put your make and model as an add on item and it's easy as pizza pie! Also glad to see their wearing gloves and taking proper precautions. Been to this Giordano's location several times and have never had an issue. Recently came here for Mother's Day (when mama has a craving, you go for it) and had a great experience. Our waitress, Gaby, was attentive and efficient. I ordered a "small" chopped salad and it could've easily been a meal in itself. I split it with my dad so I could partake in the main feature. At times, Giordano's deep dish has come out soggy. Not today! The pizza was delicious this time around. The wait time is about 45 minutes for deep dish, but that's expected. For deep dish Chicago-style, crust is the key. Giordano's ingredients were plentiful but average, and the critical part, the crust was just meh. Last year I inadvertently pitted the San Francisco Bay Area's premier Chicago-style pizza parlor, Zachary's Pizza in Oakland, against this Giordano's franchise in Rockford, 90 miles from Chicago. The night before a trip to Madison for a conference, I met a friend for dinner in the East Bay and yielded to his push for Zachary's. As always, the restaurant satisfied -- warm atmosphere, hot, good food. I ate my fill, left happy, and let my friend take the inevitable leftovers. The next day in Illinois, my boss and I rented a car at O'Hare and headed for our planned stop in Rockford to pick up a pie. After a few wrong turns, aided by the help of the friendly restaurant staff, we got our food and were quickly back on the wide Illinois highways, eating pizza to the music of Led Zeppelin. It may sound cheesy, but it was great -- and with that much deep dish, it _was_ cheesy. (Groan.) The Giordano's pizza was delicious, the crust, cheese, and tomato sauce baked together to the right firmness and served at the right temperature. We ate slice after slice after slice, and when I felt I was full, I didn't want to stop. That's what I remember; that's the impression that has remained clear even as the specific details of the two pizzas have faded over the last six months. Zachary's is good, but Giordano's was the clear winner in this accidental contest. This wasn't an isolated outcome, either. Every Giordano's I've been to -- at home in Naperville, at school in Hyde Park, out on the North Side, passing through Rockford -- has served consistently great pizza (unlike, say, Gino's East). Chicago has an amazing selection of pizza, and I've been gone too long to declare Giordano's the best pizza to have ever passed my lips. I will, though, gladly call it my favorite place to get deep dish pizza, a place (a chain) I know I can go back to, and I would tell anyone looking for good deep dish pizza in the Chicago area that they won't go wrong here. read more

Came here with my boyfriend and his parents in a Thu evening. The restaurant was clean, inviting, with red and white table cloth like many Italian restaurants in town. We ordered the house salad, the small deep dish pizza (with Italian beef, mushrooms, and sausage), and the small Chicago style thin crust pizza. Everything was delicious. The salad had a light lemon zest dressing with fresh greens. The pizzas were great and very filling. The 4 o us combined only managed to eat half of both pizzas. Overall service was good. Best deep dish pizza around - I've been loving this pizza for over 16 years, but it has been more difficult since relocating to Colorado, and I was only able to enjoy the pizza when I came back for family visits. ...until they started shipping pizzas to the lower 48! Now I can enjoy the pizzas anytime!! Now I know I've just been praising the franchise, but let's talk about the Rockford location. Big, open and airy, the dining room is very comfortable. The service is always top notch, even once it gets crowded. I feel that the space allows your party to relaxed and comfortable. I love Giordano's, but I must say, this was just a tiny bit of a let-down. My chopped salad was very good. The lettuce was fresh, and the mix of veggies and dressing was just right. Thoroughly enjoyed it. But on to the main course... The pizza looked right, but just had a little something missing. The crust was right, as was the cheese. In my opinion, Giordano's always skimps on toppings, but they do that in downtown Chicago, too. But the sauce must have been missing some garlic or something. It was just slightly bland. Wish I could articulate better, but I cannot. I'd rate it 80% as good as their Chicago locations. Our server was great - very warm and friendly and helpful. MY ADVICE: If you've never tried REAL Chicago deep-dish, go here and you'll love it. If you are a real deep-dish veteran, you might be a touch disappointed. read more

O-M-G! I love me some deep dish Chicago style pizza and this delivers. We started off with an appetizer basket and everything was amazing. Great fried cheese! But the start of the show was the Mack Daddy of a Pizza. I think it weighed like 20 pounds (It was just the medium!) Me, my husband and my Mother in law could only finish half of this sucker. Was here for a birthday and had the absolute best pizza that I have ever had. True "Chicago style". Even being in a large group of 11 the server was super attentive and even when she mixed up ingredients on 2 of the pizzas ordered. Instead of my friend getting ham and Canadian bacon they just had ham and I had the bacon on mine she had it fixed promptly and there was not a long wait for the second pizza and did not charge me extra for the accidental extra topping.
