We stopped in for dinner while down in the area. We have driven by many times in recent years, but the place always has a look of not being very appetizing nor having people there when driving by, so we skip it. But this time we decided to give it a try.... The building has a musty smell inside and is definitely dated. The menus were torn up and dirty, not very clean. They offer the basic stuff you'd get from your local, neighborhood Italian/Pizza joint. The entrees we tried were ok, nothing special, but not bad either. The salad that came with the meal had a very bland balsamic dressing. Service was very nice and friendly. Restrooms were clean.

Pizza is ok, but on the greasy side. Most of the apps are frozen fare. Salads are boring. We mostly go there for the subs and pasta dishes.

My husband went with the meat lover's pizza. While he was happy with his pizza, I was absolutely blown away by my pasta. Everything about it was perfect -- from the texture of the pasta to the richness of the sauce. It was incredibly satisfying and easily the best thing I ate all trip. We loved it so much that we came back a second time before heading home and ordered another one to-go for our daughter (yes, it survived the 2-hour drive!). The staff was kind and efficient, and the restaurant itself was clean and well kept. This spot has officially made it to the top of my list for future visits.

After searching lobster ravioli online, this restaurant came up, and the photos looked so good that we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. However, it took a while before anyone came to our table. Two younger waitresses were standing in the back talking with someone they appeared to know, and after about 15 minutes, another staff member finally asked if we had been helped. When I told her we hadn't, she immediately took our drink and food orders. The atmosphere was pleasant and family-friendly, with a relaxed vibe. Once our waitress took over, she was amazing--attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. It was well worth the visit, and I'm so glad I found the place again. I'll definitely be making a trip back!

This place was very close and we tried it out of lack of options. I read in other reviews the pizza was good and skeptical given the rural nature of the town but I was pleasantly surprised. Ordering online was simple, but it was a long wait for the food. In fairness to Vesuvio, it was packed inside and there were several folks waiting outside in cars for their orders to be ready. Once I went in to get the food, they swiped my card quick and handed me my food. The food was average. We got one white pizza, which had a pleasant garlic taste. Then a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza - standard. Ditto for the Caesar salad. The prices are fair. The inside seems cozy. My limited interaction with staff was cordial.

It's cool that the noodles are hand-made but they were very chewy to me. Maybe I'm just not used to home-made pasta but it was lacking. I appreciate that they have vegetarian options, however it seems like it's written by a meat-eater who thinks, "this is what vegetarians can eat!" Very limiting and not very creative (from a pescatarian). Pasta was ready very quickly which was nice but if it was rushed, it shows. $12 for butter noodles. Can't say I'll be going back.

I ordered several items to eat over a period of time, and got most of what they had that would interest me. It's the kind of place where vegetarian with cheese is possible but other more restrictive dietary needs may not find much. Their interpretation of garlic bread is a flavored pizza crust, which I don't like as much as a properly airy loaf of bread. The cacio e pepe could have use a bit more pepe, but I appreciated the al dente noodles texturally. While they brand themselves as a pasta place, their pizza had a tangy tomato hit and a ton of basil that I appreciated. Arguably the best item was the salad, which oddly claimed to be a traditional caesar but had shaved brussels sprout, marinated tomatoes, bread crumbs, and a vegetarian dressing. Which is to say, it was much better from my perspective than a traditional caesar. The ultimate amount of food for the money, in consideration that this place is pure takeout, did not wow me. Were I in Charlottesville, I would sooner seek out a chance to dine in somewhere nice or cook my own, but for a traveler, the food here satisfied a craving.
