I found the perfect Anniversary present for my wife! Three years ago my wife's CRV got hit in a parking lot and damaged the passenger side of her rear bumper. The only damage was to the rear hatch, the paint on the bumper cover and that the bumper cover had been dented deeply and popped out of the seam of the rear quarter panel. I tried and failed to get the dent out of the bumper cover and for the life of me I couldn't get it to pop back in along the quarter panel seam. We have a high deductible on my wife's car because she hardly ever gets into accidents, so the repair never happened. It has bugged my wife for years. She walks out to her new-looking CRV and has to see that damn passenger side rear bumper every day. Mark at Giovanni's did a ton of work to my Pilot when i got hit in the rear and it came out great, so i figured I'd bring my wife's CRV down to see what Mark had to say about my options for getting it fixed. I told him about the problem with the costs and he told me he would be able to work within my budget to get it repaired They were able to get the huge dent out of the bumper cover, get it secured back in the quarter panel seam and fix a problem the accident had caused with the rear hatch (which is now finally closing properly for the first time in 3 years) and they were even able to paint the part of the bumper that had taken the hit which wasn't originally part of the repair because i was worried it was going to be too expensive. They did it all with out maxing out my budget and had it done early enough that I had plenty of time to get it home before she got back home from her trip. As far as Anniversary presents go, this was my best one yet for my wife. She has mentioned how happy she is not to have to look at that damn popped out bumper at least once or twice every week since Giovanni's did the work. Best money I've spent in a while. Was told repair would "take 1 week but plan on 2". Took 6 weeks. Only updates I got were when I called on the "ready by" date and got the new "ready by" date. was told to make an appointment with Tesla to complete the repair but they never brought the car to Tesla. I only found out the car didn't show up at Tesla from Tesla. Was told by Giovanni that Tesla would have taken 3 days to complete. Tesla told me one. they kept the car another week after Tesla would have completed. Car was cleaned but small details that work was done remain. They gave me 100.00 off but I was losing 600.00 a week on my rental. read more

So glad I found this shop after a deer jumped over my Elantra. The owner's expertise & ethics are excellent. He handled the business details with my Progressive Insurance rep. & his receptionist assisted with Enterprise for my rental. My car is back in my possession perfectly fixed, painted, & detailed (no additional cost), with all the settings exactly as I prefer. The only issue was that the date of pick-up was moved later several times: I advise that you trust this shop but also stay on top of the finish date (note that they are not open on weekends~if you're in an accident during off-hours, the police can help have your car towed to this shop). Don't ever bring your car to this body shop. They told me they would take a week and a half to fix my car and they took a month. Once I received my car they called me and said they forgot to change a tire so I had to bring my car back and was promised a time and they are taking longer. you constantly need to be behind them so they can move things a long. Once I got my car back the gas tank was on and left me with no gas and they took all of my change I had in the car. read more

I brought my vehicle to Giovanni's on the recommendation of Geico. The car was brought there for an estimate and inspected by the Geico Claims adjuster and it was $1,600 in damages. Because the car that caused the accident (multivehicle accident) had only $25,000 in Liability I knew that I was not going to be reimbursed for the whole amount, but was told it would be roughly $800-$900. Giovanni's told me it would be 5 days(per the estimate) for repairs, after I dropped it off, I called the following week and was told it was not finished and they had to order more parts (the entire SUV lift Gate), at that time I asked if this was approved by Geico and they said it was, I asked a second time if they called Geico and got the approval for this and they said they did. I asked them for an updated quote and they emailed me a quote for $2,600 and again I asked in the email if they called Geico and got approval for this added expense and they emailed me back and said they did. 2 weeks after I dropped it off, I stopped by on a Friday to find out about the status as my daughter needed the car for the weekend and they said that it would be ready later Friday or Saturday and handed me a bill for $3,200. They never contacted me or Geico to get approval for any of the extra costs or parts and took it upon themselves to jack up the bill. At this point my car is hostage and I needed to pay it so we can get it back. I spoke to the man who was repairing it and he told me that the liftgate had to be replaced, but the insurance adjuster was well aware of the damage and only put in repair. The adjuster even took a specific photo of that damage and shared that with me during the initial insection. I called the shop later that day after I stopped by and was told they would take $200 off the bill which Is minimal at best and was told I could pick it up the next day after 11 AM. I was away for the weekend so I told my kids they could get it after 11 AM, but my kids found out that Giovanni's closes at 11 AM on Saturdays and no one was there when they drove to pick it up. Giovanni's knew that they were wasting our time to drive out there after they were closed. They claim to be a Geico shop but were not in communication with them to find out how much Geico was covering or that I would be covering a part of it. I will never use them again, I own 5 vehicles for me and my children and have had several interactions with body shops over the decades and never have I been taken advantage of like this. read more

Brought my 2020 Subaru Crosstrek for repair. The drivers side back end was badly damaged from hitting a tree. In addition I had self damage, on right side of car that would not be covered by insurance. I picked up car yesterday and it looks brand new. I wish I could post pictures but do not know how. I was so happy with their work. In addition, they fixed the damage I caused on the right side which was self pay. The cost was $500 less than what was first guesstimated. I have used Giovanni Auto Body at least 3 other times, and they have never disappointed. They are very professional, and easy to work with. They take care of all the insurance billing. Another plus is that Enterprise Rental is connected to the building, so the reserve of the rental is already done when you get there. Chose this auto body shop because of Geico and will not be returning anytime soon. The manager said the work to fix my car would take 4-5 days max. Well, it took 3.5 WEEKS!!! WEEKS!!! And when I picked up the car, the problem was not even property fixed so I had to bring it back and wait another 5 days. Not sure why they would call and say my car was ready in the first place if the dashboard was lighting up like a christmas tree upon turning the car on after being "fixed." DONT RECOMMEND read more

THIEVES BEWARE! Geico recommended this shop as part of my insurance after damage to my car. I signed a waiver stating that the shop was not responsible for any personal items in the car and LOW AND BEHOLD MY APPLE AIRPODS that were hidden in my console were stolen. I forgot to remove them upon dropping my car off and would have never imagined that they would NOT be in my car upon pick up but they were not!... I would NEVER recommend this shop to anyone, they have you sign a waiver so they can STEAL! read more

I have had two vehicles repaired here now and the work itself is average at best. The real problem is the time frame they quoted on both jobs. The two tomes we used them they quoted 2-3 days and on both occasions in took nearly 3 weeks. The reasons given were suspect to say the least. The shop area and car yard are messy and do not present well to me as a customer. I would get other recommendations before settling on this establishment. Update. After keeping our vehicle longer than expected the insurance company was denying the last two days of the rental car. We communicated on several occasions with Giovanni's to have them deal with this but unfortunately it took more effort on our part to get them to take care of this. I understand things happen but provide prompt and efficient customer service. No longer will use them in the event we need auto body services. read more

The car was 2 weeks late on repair, They said they were waiting for a part(car door) . A total of three weeks. It must have been junk. -When the car was picked up. The replacemnt door smells so strong of bondo that I thought there was supposed to be a new door put on. The door also shakes and rattles. I.m not sue if they left something the door or just didn't do a decent job. The rear seat is loose! I tries to put it back in place, but no dice. The car still stongly smells of bondo. The rattle is annoying. They ran the car through the car wash before giving back but it wasn't vaccumed or anything extra. - This company is to be avoided. It smells like ripoff. read more

I had gotten hit by a bicyclist which caused a broken back light and several scratches on the passenger back side. Originally Mark had said it would cost about $350 to replace light and buff out scratches (I decided it would save me money as compared to re-painting it) When I checked out the price was half. He realized after that the cost of the light was lower then he had originally thought. I told him how much I appreciated his honesty and the lower price. Everyone was really nice including the receptionist and the mechanic. It couldnt have been a better experience. I highly recommend them. read more

Brought my car to Giovanni Auto Body on recommendation of an insurance carrier. Unfortunately the car was totaled. After searching for and buying another car I removed some of my personal items and license plates. When I returned to also get my brand new battery I found out that Giovanni had released my car to a salvage yard! With clear instructions on the folder NOT to release and with no release signed they got rid of my car. Worse part is they blamed "the new girl"! The names the same but the business is a shame! Worse experience I have ever had with a body shop! This is NOT the same place as it used to be before the owner passed away! They used to be the best, NOT anymore! I would find another body shop...any body shop before I would recommend them! Save yourself a lot headaches and take my advice! Find another body shop who will treat you as a valued customer and does quality work! This is NOT the place! My good friend had his corvette painted there and the bumper is a different shade then the rest of his car! I can't imagine anyone who would want to do business with rude manger/appraiser who runs the show now. He doesn't have much of a personality and he is definitely NOT the same caliper of people that Giovanni had! I know and have been friends w Giovanni for many years, he would have bend over backwards for his customers! This guy doesn't even return calls as he promises! I tried out of loyalty to have them repair my car only to encounter a manger who is push me I am coming and I don't return phone calls attitude! He left me hanging after I had a collision! I tried for over a year to get my car fixed only to be stroked along. I went back for the last time recently only to be told that there was a five week wait and they only accepted cash!? Going here was the worst experience I've ever had with automotive repairs. I chose this shop because they were the closest to home that my insurance was contracted with; if I need to go somewhere to have my car fixed in the future, it won't be here regardless of how far I have to drive. I had some routine front end collision damage that has taken at most 10 days to fix in the past for comparable damage. THEY TOOK 33 DAYS. To add to it, the radiator was replaced and a few days after getting the car back, there was a massive leak in the hose leading into the radiator near the radiator, as if someone didn't handle the radiator replacement carefully enough to not damage the 2 and 1/2 year old hose. It's also fortunate if they have someone readily available to assist you at the counter as I had to wait more than 5 minutes to be helped two of the four times I was at the shop. The only redeemable part of their service was the interior detailing they did. I would not recommend them to anyone for automotive repairs. read more

The autobody work itself is performed professionally and appropriately by the technicians, however I have never met a poorly run management team as I did with Lori and Mark-condescending, rude and no remorse for their staff. its a wonder they are still in business how they treat people! I was talking to his painter about painting my bumpers and I was talking to him a for a few minutes when i was told to leave because i was taking up the too much of his time, Well i had some choice words for him and all he can say is I don't care, apparently he didn't need my business. When I called to ask when they were scheduling for, the woman who answered the phone seemed to be confused why I would be asking and was standoffish when she told me they were scheduling a month out. That was fine and comparable to everywhere else I called. When I decided I wanted to use Giovanni's to do the repair on my car I called back and explained that this was the first time I've had to get body work done on a car. I told the woman on the phone that I have a quote from my insurance and she said they still needed to have someone do an estimate on their end before scheduling my appointment. I was told to go anytime between 9 and 11 on Saturday to have Mike take a look. I confirmed that I didn't need to make an appointment. I show up Saturday and there was absolutely no parking so I ended up in the next lot over; fine they were busy. Get inside, there is no one at the door or seemingly anywhere that seemed to be helping customers walking in. A woman in an office finally noticed me wandering around confused and asked what I needed. I explained that I was there to have Mark look at my car for an estimate so I could schedule the body work. Was flat out told she has no idea what I am talking about, if I had my insurance look at it already she couldn't think of why they would need to look at it too, she only fills in on weekends and she can't do scheduling. I really can't put into words just how awkward it was and flabbergasted I was that essentially someone was saying they have no idea what is going on and they can't help me. So she took a copy of my insurance estimate to have the women I talked to twice on the phone call me back to schedule an appointment... the same appointment she wouldn't schedule until I brought my car in for Mark to look at... I only chose to go to Giovanni's which is 45 minutes from where I live because they were open on Saturday until noon and my parents live in Branford and were going to coordinate me borrowing a car from them while the work is being done. But hands down this was probably the worst service experience I have had of any type. Basically, TLDR: don't go to Giovanni's if you haven't had body work done before because they are not helpful or all on the same page and then if you do, do NOT go in on Saturday because the person who "just fills in on the weekends and doesn't know what's going on" will literally tell you that and just stare at you until you leave. But if you've had body work done before maybe it'll be fine, because then you can tell them what is supposed to be going on. read more
