While our tire was disintegrating as we were traveling in the breakdown lane, we pulled off at the next exit. Since we had to travel with only the exposed rim for about 2 miles we thought we might have to check into a hotel for the night to fix the problem. Then (cue heavenly music!) we spotted D & S Auto Repair. When David heard about our problem and saw that, in fact the rim was destroyed, he volunteered that he had a trailer tire already mounted on the rim that he would sell us and mount for $100! This is one of the most gracious acts of kindness we have experienced and years of touring.
