I thought I had been to nearly all the locations of Giovanni's Pizza in the tri-state area until I came to this one on Blackburn Avenue. All Giovanni's are not created equal. My Dad and I were visiting my mom in a nearby hospital when hunger called. I got on Yelp and found this Giovanni's location was about 10 minutes away. It's on top of a hill with a small parking lot but we found a spot. We ordered and paid for a 12-inch pizza at the counter. We had some toppings on the entire pizza while other toppings were half and half. We were given our cups so we grabbed our Pepsi and found a booth. An employee came by our table and gave us silverware. When our pizza was brought to our table I could not believe all the toppings! No other Giovanni's location was so generous with pizza toppings. The pizza was hot and the ingredients were fresh! I ate one more piece than I needed to but it was worth it LOL;) The manager or owner, not sure which, came by everyone's table to ask if everything was okay and did we need anything. Now that was service you don't see much of these days. I would absolutely come back to this Giovanni's location! read more

Giovanni's is a must stop. On this trip we grabbed a hot ham and cheese and a chef salad to go. Sandwiches are always great but their menu doesn't real star is the pizza hot out of the oven. read more

Neighborhood hideout when I want comfort food and a few minutes of "Me Time" with a large screen TV of feel-good-tv (Little House or Price Is Right is usually on one of the ti's, for sure) and THE BEST guilt free jalapeño poppers around. I WAS VERY disappointed to find out that the OTHER location nearby (in direct view of their distribution center) DOES NOT carry the poppers... so this gives me EVEN MORE reason to keep this as my go-to location! Food is always hot, people are always nice and I never feel like I've overspent for what I received. WISH I could say that about other places but that just gives me even more reason to stay here. :) read more

Worse pizza bread this evening from Blackburn Ave Giovanni's that I've ever had plus it wasn't even what I ordered. Very disappointed...

Two of my favorite words in the English language are "pizza" and "buffet", so naturally, Giovanni's got my attention! I paid for my meal up front, which I liked, and was given a glass and a buffet plate. There were no waitstaff that I saw, and at 12:00 noon, only one other table was occupied. Here's the deal: this pizza is absolutely fine. I've had better and worse. I walked in and paid for my meal first, and found $10 a little steep for a buffet that only had four pizzas on it. I was also hoping for a salad bar, but there wasn't one. For the record, spaghetti and breadsticks were also on the buffet, but neither looked hot or fresh. The pizza itself was crispy, but extremely greasy. If I lived in the area, I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Giovanni's does not have good pizza, they just happen to exist in a region with some of the worst pizza in the country, filled with people who have never had an actual good pizza. The dough is tasteless, and somehow even though it's aa thin as a sheet of notebook paper, remains sloppy and floppy even after an extended amount of time in the oven. The sauce is a bucket of water with a foil pouch of tomato powder stirred in, and the imitation cheese cooagulates before the pizza even exits the oven. You'd think with the quality you would at least be getting a good value, but Giovannis is easily the most expensive pizza in town. It's sad that the "premiere pizza" franchise of the South is easily outdone by a Hot n Ready, but that's our reality in this area. read more

When you order a sandwich and only order cheese and lettuce on it, it should be simple right. WRONG!!!!! I ordered a steak sandwich with just cheese and lettuce, and got no lettuce on the sandwich..... I have ordered here many times, and I have to say the orders are often wrong. I think this restaurant has gone downhill in the last few years. It is close by and I hope this review will have them thinking about their food and how to check an order before it goes out. Really rude lady at the window yelled at us because we weren't sure what information she was needing to get my order. 3/1/21 at around 7:30-8pm. Opened window and stared at us instead of having good customer service. She was rude and needs to find a job away from people. Also the food was equally as poor. read more

I love this Giovanni. They have always prepared food in a timely manner and if something was off they always correct it. I love the Giovanni brand itself but this is my favorite location as it's convenient and always fresh and tasty. read more

Ladies and gentelmen, Every now and then I consume food from a culinary establishment that inspires me to such a degree that I am compelled to express my thoughts and experience via Yelp review. This was certainly one of those moments. I'll formulate my review through a list of suggestions 1. If you are planning on ordering delivery, make sure to place the order immediately after your previous meal. It took nearly 2 American hours from the time we placed the order to when we received the "food". If you're hungry at the time your order, prepare yourself to be angry and far hungrier for the next 2 hours. 2. If you think French fries are a good idea for a side, think again. You can get the equivalent to their French fries at any local grocery store. Just ask an employee where the frozen section is. I bit into one alleged fry and was unsure if I had accidentally eaten the bag in came in instead. I am 80% convinced the French fries are made from the same material as the pizza box. 3. Don't order the chicken tenders. They're definition of "tenders" must be pretty loose. You can probably find those in the frozen section as well, right next to those cardboard fries. 4. If you order drinks, it's always a good idea to have your own as a backup plan. You never know when they might forget them. Oh wait, I do know....because it happened to me. Don't worry though, we drank room-temperature water out of the hotel faucet. 5. If your idea of dipping sauces is Hunt's ketchup packets, then this is the place for you. I mean c'mon, at least get Heinz ketchup packets! I was thrilled to receive those instead of the ranch we explicitly ordered. 6. Helpful hint: Hotel hand towels are a good substitute for napkins in the case that you don't receive any. Well hopefully this was helpful. When choosing from a variety of late night snack options, you can confidently cross Giovanni's off the list. Please excuse while I go pour a bottle of tums down my throat. P.S. The pizza wasn't bad and the delivery guy was pretty nice. read more

I really did not want to do this. I really did not. I've been eating here since I was a kid. It used to be top notch. Now, it is a poor excuse for a pizzeria. The staff is rude, and anything you ask of them seems like a bother to them, especially the ladies up front. Three times I've went to a buffet, three times I've waited over 30 minutes for ONE FRESH PIZZA to hit the buffet. This is inexcusable and a sham. I pay my full money for a buffet, not 3 half eaten pizzas over half an hour old. The mountain dew was out, took them 20 minutes to replace it, after giving me a nasty look when I asked politely to have it replaced. Where are the owners? The food quality has dropped dramatically, the staff is clearly in their own world, and the flies buzzing around the buffet line is just plain disgusting. Giovanni's pizza is simply the best. I'm not even from the area, and I know that. My mothers family is from Ashland and as far back as I could remember the first thing we did was order a pizza from this very Giovanni's. Stretching back over the course of 25 years I believe I've tried everything. I don't remember the exact pizza we always got but I know it had banana peppers and green olives and onions and it will literally make you melt into pizza heaven. I also always loved the Italian sandwich and that red sauce they have there. You can't get anything like this down in Louisiana. I know Giovanni's is somewhat of a chain and I've only eaten at 4 locations ( 2 in Ashland, 1 in Greyson and one in Frenchburg) and all were delicious. We live in Maryland, but come down to Ashland to visit family about twice a year. Giovanni's is always the first place we go. The huge pizzas are always warm and delicious, and everyone is a fan of the red salad dressing. We will continue to come here every time we visit Ashland. I really recommend this place. read more

Giovanni's Pizza on Blackburn Ave. is the best Giovanni's around here. They have your order ready when they say they will and the food is great. No skimping on ingredients. The two times a mistake has been made on my order throughout the years, they have remade my order and not given me any problem at all about it. The staff is always courteous, and they are quick and efficient. One thing I will let you know is that this particular Giovanni's does not deliver. But they do have a drive through that moves quickly. read more

This Giovanni's Pizza Downtown on Greenup Avenue was excellent. Was waited on the minute I sat foot in the door by Lora and GiGI. I decided that I wanted the Buffett. Was ask about a drink and it was there when I was sitting down. Helped myself to the wonderful looking salad bar with fresh crisp lettuce, tomatoes that tasted like just came out of my garden, cheese, sweet onions, ham, peppers, cottage cheese, oranges, and a lot of other items to choose from. Tried their "RED" salad dressing and fell in love with it. Absolutely delicious. Lots to choose from the pasta bar if you wanted pasta. I choose pizza which was a huge variety, hot and very fresh out of the oven. Did not see a veggie pizza, which is one of my personal favorites so I ask. Lora said I will get one fixed and within 10 minutes a hot delicious veggie pizza was out and ready to consume. GiGi was my server and was so friendly, sweet and very helpful. The best Giovanni's in Ashland. They always have a fantastic buffet and wonderful workers. They are very patient and always have great food out on the buffet. This place is horrible and rude! I called and placed an order and the girl never asked or told me they don't deliver after I've told her i needed delivery! I waited outside and they took forever i called to verify it was for delivery and she got an attitude saying we don't deliver if you would have asked me i would have told you that. I'm sorry but isn't that your freaking job when someone calls to let them know you don't? Get your attitude checked! The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to apology if your wait is longer than they anticipate. Called in an order for delivery here. They told me it would be 35-45 minutes for a house salad and lasagna. Finally, after an hour and a half of waiting, I was delivered a salad mix straight from a bag that had no toppings and no cheese, and a lasagna that was lacking sauce and had zero flavor, but was overly salted. The sauce is basically just meat. No sauce. Haven't ordered from here ever again. I go out of my way to pick up from Judy's Giovanni's all the way in Ironton. read more
