Giralda Plaza has become a photo opportunity ever since the Umbrella Sky Project came.

A street away from Miracle Mile, you can find Giralda Plaza. I'm not really sure what the relationship between the two is, but I imagine they're connected given all the changes the area has been having. Not to mention that their website says you can submit to get a business area in either/or. That said, Giralda Plaza after the renovation has a mind of its own. You have events such as Giralda Under the Stars and Giralda Al Fresco going on. Plus, who can forget the current décor of the Umbrella Sky Project? Other than that, this plaza is pedestrian friendly, so if you bring a car, your nearest parking garage is right across by Bocas House and Graziano's. Note, too, that this area is full of restaurants such as Rice Mediterranean Kitchen and Bellmont Spanish Restaurant. And obviously if you don't find something that tickles your fancy, walk to the next street and try your luck.

Extremely beautiful pedestrian zone in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables. There are plenty of cute bars and restaurants including the famous The Bar. They always have a cute set-up there. 2 years ago they had the umbrella sly art installation on Giraldo. During the fall months, there was a cute pumpkin arch and other photo ops. Currently, you can see a beautifully decorated Christmas tree on Giraldo's.

We have been here a couple of times now. The first time was a Saturday or Sunday afternoon during the winter, after we had visited the Fairchild Botanical Garden that is about a 15 minute drive from here. Giralda Plaza was dead quiet, which seemed odd. Some of the restaurants were open though, so we enjoyed a quick bite and a stroll through here. We came back this past Saturday when the umbrella sky art exhibition was going on and the place was a mob scene. To be honest, my husband and I don't really care for the Miami area all that much, but this is in a nice neighborhood! I really like this street, the tile work on the ground is beautiful and the architecture is quite pretty. There are mainly restaurants in this area and a few shops in the surrounding area. The art installation was really great to see! I loved the bright colored umbrellas overhead. This was definitely a crowd pleaser. We were here for a little over 90 minutes. We parked in a garage near a Publix and paid $3, which isn't TOO bad for a major city.

I absolutely love Giralda Plaza, Giralda Under the Stars, #SunLitSky, #UmrellaSky, etc! In my opinion it's the BEST thing in the Gables area. Giralda has an abundance amount of free events on the weekends. One of the last ones I attended was on Valentine's Day with their beautiful #SunLitSky they had Live music playing, a decorative wall with the word Love where you take pictures, and free flowers as well as sweets for the ladies. It was a delightful event. I enjoy their creativity first it was the #umbrellasky which was a major hit then the #SunLitSky another great thing, now I can't wait for their next surprise project for the Giralda sky. Giralda Plaza has every type of restaurant from Mediterranean to Poke to Vietnamese...can't forget that awesome burger place - Clutch burger! Plus, most of the restaurants in the plaza has outside seating where you can enjoy people watching as well the wonderful Miami weather and most of the weekends you get to enjoy their live music. If you are a foodie or a photo enthusiasm this is the spot to be! If you haven't been here I don't know what you're waiting for...hurry up! You missing out! Next, I'm trying to attend is their free yoga every Saturday at 10am outside in the Giralda Plaza.

Giralda Plaza has many nice restaurants and bars, my favorite one so far is Lorenzo pizzeria, they offer great pizzas and desserts! Umbrellas in the skies was a beautiful thing too see, it attracted hundreds of people to the Coral Gable area. I wish they could more events like this one thought out the city, Miami deserves it, being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it really has the potential to show its real colors. I defenatelly recommend anybody to stop by and enjoy any of the bars/restaurants Giralda Plaza has to offer! You wouldn't be disappointed!!a

Because of Ariel W's review, I just had to see this cool art display! This art brought many families out on a Sunday to take pictures and enjoy the great plaza vendors. I wish we had more of these displays throughout South Florida. They would do the same for local communities. Forecast had said rain all day. We ventured out anyway. No rain. If it did, we would be covered by UMBRELLAS!

I've long been a patron of a number of businesses along this stretch of Giralda Avenue, most especially Divino Ceviche, Bangkok Bangkok II, The Local and The Bar. This block of Giralda was once a standard street with 2 way traffic and curbside Pay to Park. A few years ago they began hosting a monthly event here called "Giralda Under The Stars", which featured a DJ or other live entertainment, several walk up bars along the street, and many of the restaurants had tables set up in the street for patrons to be seated at and dine. I thought it was a great concept and brought a feeling of active nightlife to a city that can otherwise seem sleepy compared to places like Wynwood, Midtown and Brickell. At nearly the same time they began tearing up Miracle Mile for the seemingly unending project to widen the sidewalks there, they also closed down this block of Giralda to begin what turned into a major construction project, causing this area to look like a war zone at times. The end result was that the former street is now covered with brick pavers and they added lighting and greenscaping, turning this into a pedestrian only thoroughfare called "Giralda Plaza". Not a bad concept, and it seems they're continuing the "Giralda under the Stars" offerings and also seasonal events called "Giralda Al Fresco". Personally, I can only give Giralda Plaza 3 stars for a few reasons. First, IMO the results one sees were not worth the agonizing months of construction during which, according to at least one media source, at least a few businesses and restaurants were nearly driven out of business due to the lack of people willing to dodge their way through a construction zone to patronize them. Second, we were a bit surprised to come here mid-week to dine at one of the restaurants, only to be told they had to close at 9. We'd arrived at 8:45 and they allowed us to quickly order our meals before their kitchen closed, but we noticed other restaurants where patrons were leaving and they were placing chains and padlocks through the outdoor seating and tables at just a few minutes after 9 as well. At least 2 groups of patrons were turned away while we ate, and we saw customers turned away from at least one other eatery as well. IMO if they really want this area of Giralda to be well patronized and active, restaurants need to remain open later, as many customers in the Miami area tend to enjoy eating their meals late in the evening. Lastly, the lighting along Giralda Plaza is way too bright as of this writing. There's one area with overhead strings of lights, which is more than adequate. On the other hand, the light posts that are so bright they cause people to squint their eyes when walking past should either be switched off or at least dimmed. I noticed that a few similar lights over on Miracle Mile are now dark, for perhaps the same reason. Dimming the lights and perhaps adding a bit of ambient music would do a lot to make this area more inviting and cause people to want to return.

I finally came to see the umbrella project. I am truly glad I did, I never realized there was more then just "the bar" here. I will be back to explore some more on a later date.

Giralda Plaza is an example of a good street improvement project. So often Miami pours money into improvements that don't seem to be of much benefit. This is not one of them. I know the business owners suffered during the construction, but the payoff is wonderful! It is so nice to be able to stroll down the now pedestrian-only street and see diners sitting at umbrella clad tables outside. The art installment of the colorful umbrellas overhead is an amazing addition! I wish that it could be permanent. It offers the perfect backdrop for your next social media post! The shade from the umbrellas cast an artistic pattern on the sidewalk below and offer enough respite for the casual strollers. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from - Vietnamese, Mexican, Spanish, Gastro Pub, Poke, and some healthier options. At the end of the street you can stop in Passion de Cielo to have a coffee. I think the only thing missing is a intimate wine bar! I can't wait to spend more time here once the weather cools off.

This is a gorgeous pedestrian avenue in Coral Gables lined with restaurants and shops. A lot of events are held here like Giralda Under the Stars the first Friday of the month December through April, Happy Hour Wednesday when bars and restaurants offer half priced drinks 4 to 7 PM, Live Jazz Thursdays, Live Music Fridays, Fitness on the Plaza Saturdays, and Sunday Brunch and Family Fun which offers kids activities and a green market. I came for the art installation the Umbrella Sky Project which is made up of 800 candy colored umbrellas gently swaying over the plaza. It is the perfect spot for your Instagram photos but come on by soon because it will only be here for the summer. They even have a photo spot set up so you can take your photo with one of the umbrellas. After you get your pictures you can dine and shop along the plaza. I found ample pay parking on a Saturday afternoon on the streets surrounding the plaza. This is a great installation and is definitely worth taking a trip to Miami to see it in person.

A great place to stroll, to have a meal and experience the new art installation of colorful umbrellas. This is the first season for this pedestrian mall and it is already a hit with locals.

Parking was a little rough, which was the only drawback. I saw in other Yelp reviews that they had a small parking lot, but I couldn't find it and nobody picked up the phone when I called to ask. Luckily, there is a garage maybe a 5-minute walk away which had surprisingly cheap parking for the area. There were staff there to direct us when we first walked in, and they were super helpful. Everything was so clean, the decor was beautiful, and they had every type of space you need for a wedding (entrance, bar, outdoor ceremony area, indoor reception, and maybe more that I didn't see). I can't speak to the planning process working with them, but from the perspective of an attendee, it was absolutely perfect.

It has excellent elevated views of the Miami skyline to the east and the Miami River, boats, and the W Flagler St Drawbridge (historical landmark, built in 1938) to the west. I believe the penthouse is located on the 10th floor of a relatively new building. 2. The venue is modern and versatile. The inside spaces (including restrooms) had a clean, updated look. For this event, there were multiple bars and food stations set up both indoors and outdoors. The dance floor was outside. The combination of string lights, rooftop patio decor, and the city skyline was beautiful. There was only one elevator to get everyone up and down, so there was a bottleneck there. They brought in a fire dancer to perform outside on the rooftop, which was really cool.

I absolutely loved the views here, which is why this place gets 5 stars!
