My rating isn't for the service, but the office. I had a broken spring last week and the gentleman that came out was evidently new. He said it would need a conversion and they would have to drill this and that, etc. Then he took pictures and sent them to the office, and I was told they had someone who could repair it and scheduled it for the following week. I was charged $150 to open the door so I could get my one car out. When the other gentleman came out he knew nothing of the pictures, etc. If I was just rating him I would give 5 stars. He did the conversion with new brackets, center bearing, cables and spring promptly with no drilling. The office needs to communicate better with their technicians. read more

A torsion spring broke on our garage door. I called on a Sunday and left a message thinking I wouldn't hear back until Monday. In less than 5 minutes Tommy returned my call and set an appointment for Monday afternoon. Monday morning I received a call asking if the technician could come earlier than the appointment! Of course I said yes. Nigel was quick, professional, and courteous. If I ever have garage door issues again I will be calling Girard's again! read more

Great service! The technician came the exact time the appointment was scheduled for. He was able to quickly fix the issue. the mounting bracket had pulled out of the ceiling. He replaced the bracket and recalibrated the springs. It never has worked better. read more

Well, that didn't go too well. I called (mainly because of the good reviews here) when my garage door came off the tracks. They promised a callback to get someone out, but no one called until the evening. With a good excuse, but still I had to board up the house instead of getting it fixed that day. No appointments available for two days, but they'd check and call me back next day to try to fit me in. I received no callback the next day. Two days later (the first day they said they would be available) still no call. I called in and now they tell me they have no appointments available that day. In my business we refer to companies run this way as "former competitors." read more

Note: I only had Girard's Garage Door Services come out for an estimate. Ryan looked at my (admittedly terrible) garage door. He agreed that the whole thing needed to be replaced, but had concerns about doing the job - and highly recommended not having it done, since our long term plans for the house include converting the indoor garage into an extension of the house (and building a larger, detached garage in the backyard). I really appreciated his honesty! He pointed out the strong possibility that the door frame is rotted out, and that the job could get costly, fast. His advice completely changed our plans for the garage, and they will be the first people I call when we're ready to proceed with the new garage. read more

Front office staff was very friendly and diligent. The office called the day of the job to confirm that technician (Vince) would be arriving at the property within the scheduled time window. Technician also called approximately 30 minutes prior to arrival to property. 25 year old existing Sears Craftsman, chain-drive 1/2 horsepower unit "died" and needed replacement. Vince did a great job of running through the garage door Lift Master "belt drive" product options including units with battery back-up, Led light panel, WiFi enabled, etc. The pros/cons of battery back-up and led light options was very helpful. Vince replaced my garage door reinforcement bracket after highlighting that mine needed replacement. After install was completed, Vince went over remote control programming, WiFi programming, and keypad programming for the Lift Master 1/2 horsepower belt drive unit. The job site was left very clean and pulley, rails, tracks were lubricated. These guys know their stuff. Can't go wrong! read more

Following my previous review, I received a phone call from Girard's. I was told that my refund had been misplaced. I stated that my original intent was not to receive a refund, but to simply state the facts concerning the situation. I was then informed that the refund would still be forwarded. True to their word, the refund did arrive. While my original review must stand as is,, the fact that the company stood by their commitment to keep a customer happy is very admirable. I commend that sort of "stand-up" nature and will certainly consider re-hiring Girard's for future garage door services. read more

What a pleasant, respectful and professional garage door opener service. I called Connie at about 10:00 on Saturday morning, who answered some questions I had about costs of service. I arranged for an estimate where Connie scheduled NIgel for between 1:00 and 3:00. Nigel came at 1:30. He took a look at my old Liftmaster opener and I told him I suspected a worn worm gear; I was right. The cost to replace the gear was a little more than half the price of a new opener, so I ordered a new opener. I was expecting a Monday service date, but Nigel had openers in his truck! A little bit over an hour later and it was installed, tested, the door wheels and spring greased and codes installed. Great professional service from Nigel and same day service. I would recommend Girard to all my neighbors. read more

I found Girard's by submitting my info on homeadvisor.com [and promptly checked the yelp reviews, of course ;)]. A representative called me within 10 minutes to schedule a free estimate. They offered same day service and provided a 2 hour window. The technician, Vince, arrived within the scheduled timeframe. Vince, was professional, friendly and seemed very experienced. After a brief evaluation, he determined all that was needed was minor adjustments to the chain and rollers, along with lubricating spray of all the moving parts. He performed the service and a safety inspection. The service cost $75, which was very fair. I highly recommend and would definitely use them again, should the need arise. read more

Don't look any further for AMAZING service. Jim came out to assess our garage door and a weird noise it was making; he took a look around and told me that it wasn't the motor or the actual door but another piece that was hitting the door on its way down. We did call them out to do a general preventative maintenance as well which made the door move much less jerky and the quietest we've heard it. Jim was open and honest and went the extra mile by setting up my home link which wasn't working for me. We will definitely use them from now on and recommend that you do as well! I called Girard's today because my garage door would only open a few inches and I couldn't get it to close all the way when I tried to close it again. I explained the problem to Tommy, who walked me through how to fix it. I thought my explanation was vague, but he knew exactly what the problem was and gave me very clear instructions on what to do. Within 10 minutes the problem was fixed and my garage door was back to normal. Very honest company who knows what they are doing. Tommy could have easily had someone come out and charged me a fee for it, but instead, he very patiently walked me through step by step how to fix the problem. He was very honest and professional. I was very impressed with Girard's Garage Door Services. Our door spontaneously buckled, and they were able to squeeze in a Friday afternoon call to come out and unjam the remains of the current door so we could secure our home. They provided options and an estimate for installing a new door, and while it DID take a couple weeks for all the parts arrive, they got the job completed as predicted, and did beautiful work. We love the new door. (MUCH better than the crappy door that was there before, even when it worked well!) It wasn't cheap, though we really didn't have time to go comparison shopping, so I don't have any sense of how competitive their prices are, but I can tell you that dealing with Mike was a very pleasurable experience. He was direct, and provided various solutions to our problem, but I never felt pressured during the process. And again, in the last place, they did excellent work. Even if it DID cost more than some of the more corporate competitors, I'd much rather go with a local independent who actually cares about their reputation and high quality of their workmanship. After my review was read by the business I got a call that was clearly in "damage control" mode. Same guy called me wanting to know what he could do to get the review to change. I explained the situation and he explained that he had called back... This would mean that there were 2 failures...1) no missed calls and 2) the voicemail didn't have a record of it. Unlikely but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said that he was going to have to "wow me" now. He talked about a few options and the difficulty with matching pieces I already have... He left it with a "I'll call you back with a quote that will wow you". It has been well over a week since and once again ZERO callbacks and ZERO voicemails. Another complete failure in follow through. A complete waste of time and I still don't have anything more than what I had when I started. No service, no quote, no product. read more

Called their Stroudsburg office Monday afternoon after my garage door arm broke. They came out first thing Tuesday. Dave was the tech, very polite, explained everything along the way, offered options. He quickly remounted the arm, and noticed that the pulleys were very worn. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIRARD's GARAGE DOOR. We were well served by Blair and Dillon. Our garage door spring broke late at night with a loud thud. Already feeling awful, the task to find a garage door repairman that can get your car out quickly started as an unpleasant task. Started with Yellow pages, found a few listings. Then checked them online, almost all had mixed reviews. I chose Girard because it had the best reviews with few negatives. Called at 11:pm and their answering service took my number. Followed up the next morning at 8am and they were about to call me already. Got an appointment for 9am that day. They got to my house on time. As they were the only one I called, my antenna was looking for signs if these guys were going to take advantage of me at my time of distress. It did not help that they started with good news and bad news. Bad news was we have a garage door that uses a custom spring. Good news was that they could fix the door with a standard spring they carry in their truck but it would lasts for about 6000 cycles - approx 6 years. A normal appropriate spring should last 10+ years.The custom ordered spring was to cost $90 more. He then called his company and they apparently have a spring in in their warehouse and thus would only cost $50 more than the standard spring. They could have just stuck to the original cost. They offered to charge me for the service call but would waive another service charge when they return with the custom spring in a day or two. I thought that was a fair offer. They came out on time two days later, again on time, and did a wonderful job. My wife fortuitously found a refrigerator magnet dated 2011 with $40 a coupon. I presented to Blair AFTER they finished the job. He said they have changed the magnet coupons to $25 for several years and could only honor it for $25. I said OK since I was already happy with the total cost and was glad to support an honest small business. A few seconds later, he said, he will give me the $40 since I have the magnet. And then he gave me back the magnet since it does not have an expiration date for me to use again if I need to call them. I tell all these details to testify to the integrity of the way Blair/Dillion interacted with me and trust that this is a reflection of the way Girard's does business with its customers. GOOD SERVICE, GOOD WORK and a FAIR PRICE without taking advantage of customers already in distress. I am not sure if they are the cheapest but I feel the price I paid was very fair for a service that I am very happy with. At time of distress, you can feel comfortable to call these guys. I used another referral web application and called no less than three of their "top-rated" companies, only to never receive so much as an acknowledgement call back. So I heard about Yelp and found Girard's listing. I left them an email request on a Thursday evening, got a call for an appointment early Friday morning and my garage door was fixed on Monday. The work was done well, the communication was punctual and the price was very reasonable. The tech was on time, was efficient and did a very professional job and explained everything well. To those that gave negative reviews on price, I have one simple question... If it's that easy to do, why didn't you do it yourself! Girard's young man "Jason" just completed a simple repair on our overhead door, and I'm pleased. Frankly, he had me over a barrel and could have really over-charged ... but didn't. $65 for motor repair and greasing / checking two overhead doors. Very timely, very fair. read more

He asked what was the problem, I can explained and he was so nice enough to walk me through on how to reset the remote to the garage doors.. That was awesome and I'm very appreciative because i saved money because another company would've ripped me off and charge me a fee to do what he just had me do... Thank you so much.. So of course you're on your way out the door in a hurry to go somewhere and you go to close the garage door and you hear this loud bang and a crash. So after further inspection you realize the spring on the garage door broke. Now what do I do? Well you call Girard's! At the time I didn't realize what was about to happen. As I didn't know who Girard's was but I was about to find out. So I called mid morning on a Saturday during this pandemic and the owner answered the phone on the second ring! I explained my dilemma and he said no problem. So now I was thinking maybe Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday he would have someone out. He said he would have a guy out there today! WOW. So Vince arrived on time like he said he would. Walked me through the several options without trying to sell me which I appreciated. And I elected for the overhaul. Vince was courteous and knowledgeable and knocked out the job in an hour. The door operates like its brand new. Quiet and smooth. Very happy with the outcome. Couldn't have had a better experience. We had Girard's come out to assess garage door. I had hit the door with my car roof rack while it was on the way up. It only hit the very bottom of the lowest panel. Repair guy fixed the bent wheel then manually lowered the door. Said we need either a new panel or whole new door. We didn't try to open with the opener and either did he. They called a few days later to say they couldn't get the bottom panel and we would need a whole new door! We called Howell Door and the repairman first tried the opener. Lo and behold the door worked! We had him replace the rubber at the bottom. $25 dollars less than Girard with more work done! I have used Girard Garage Doors before in an emergency. They were prompt, efficient and honest. A while ago, I decided to hire a local firm (Howell) for a routine maintenance. They adjusted, oiled, tightened and said all was fine with the double doors. Within several months of this service the door panels became very loose and the door was hanging at an extreme angle. We were able to tighten the doors and they again worked. Yesterday the doors would not come up. I found both cables broken from the rollers and called Girard. (This was a Saturday.). I was given an emergency appointment between 2-4. The technician Jessie called me at 2:10 and arrived within 15 minutes of his call. He found they one of the two original rollers was broken and gave me a price for the replacement of one or both. I took the second option with a 5 year warranty. The service was courteous, professional and necessary. I would highly recommend Girard. I was in no position to price shop. It was a weekend and I needed the work done. read more

I had the most wonderful experience with Girard's Garage Door Services yesterday. I got the appointment I wanted, they came on time and my garage doors are not only repaired, they are awesome! The new rollers (guaranteed for life) blew me away as there is literally NO sound coming from the doors now - just the hum of the Whisper Drive motor. I also now can operate the doors from the buttons in the car so no more remotes hanging from the visors. My technician Blair gave me great advice and useful information. I had a great experience with Girard's yesterday!. I called in the morning to request service to an existing garage door at my daughter's new home in Bethlehem, PA. I was told that someone would come the same afternoon. Technician arrived during the specified window, evaluated the door, rails and springs and told me what was needed along with a very fair estimate.
