What a stellar little cafe just off the 40 and close to the Tesla superchargers. I stopped here for breakfast on my cross country road trip because I wanted something healthy and was not disappointed. This place is fabulous. I had the quiche brunch plate which came with sliced fruit, and garden salad, and some kale sweet potato salad and it was just what I needed. The quiche was creamy and delicious and the crust was just phenomenal. Buttery and flaky and sweet, just yum. Inside it's cosy and bustling but I sat outside on the patio with my dog which because it was in the 40s was completely empty. It's so cute and peaceful out here with a little fountain and quirky mismatched patio furniture. The service was excellent and the sweet ladies at the counter brought my dog some sausage for his breakfast. Definitely stop here when you're in Amarillo! read more

10+ This was a gem of a find! We stopped on a roadtrip out to Santa Fe. It had a charm and warmth to the atmosphere. It's counter ordering and the staff is quick and responsive. The place was packed with locals- inside and outside on the back patio. We ordered the daily special of a creamy, lightly dill seasoned chicken salad croissant, decadently DELICIOUS jalapeño cheddar soup, and huevos rancheros with beans and a side salad. We drank several glasses of the infused iced tea. We were in the area and needed to grab some breakfast before continuing east out of Amarillo. We had stayed in the area the evening before and did a bit of research on Yelp and stumbled across Girasol Café & Bakery and I'm so glad we did! We arrived about 10am on a Friday morning and about 2/3 of the tables were occupied. We proceeded to the counter where we were immediately greeted by a young lady who provided us menus and proceeded to answer our questions. I had to check out the Smothered Burrito, I chose the jalapeno bacon for my protein and decided to try the jalapeno bacon gravy on top. My wife chose the eggs your way plate with the jalapeno bacon, toast and breakfast potatoes. We also noticed the baked goods which all looked delicious but decided we would eat first and then make a decision on what items to take with us for later. We took a seat and our food arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious, I had read the smothered burrito was huge and it did not disappoint. Wow - huge, delicious and while the jalapeno bacon had a bit of a kick I enjoyed it and so did my wife. We then had to make the tough decision on what baked goods to pick. We decided on one blueberry scone, a chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate peanut butter cookie (we can't remember the name of it) which my wife said was absolutely incredible!! This is my 3rd time here in 2 weeks. I was determined to leave a review this time. I've experienced opening, rush hour and 12:30 pm a few hours before they close. If you get there at opening order your food at the counter, they have a nice fresh baked selection of pastries. Get some to take with you. Your palate can thank me later. They only have house coffee, which is very tasty. Rush hour goes like this. Get in line and order food at the counter. Grab your number and a cup for your house coffee. Stand to the side after making your coffee. Don't be overwhelmed with getting a seat. The staff runs a smooth ship. As soon as your food is done someone will be done eating. Your table gets cleaned, you sit down and your food comes out shortly there after. Enjoy your food and have the same respect as the person dinning before you. Take your time, but hurry up. So the next person can sit and eat. I promise it's a smooth process, don't rush but don't stay talking too long after you are done eating. It looks like lunch to closing time is quieter and you should get a seat right after ordering your food. Excellent food, good coffee and cute decor. read more

Sliced mango, strawberries, blueberries and mango fruit salad & a roasted sweet potato kale salad. It was amazing! ATMOSPHERE: A little claustrophobic. When I am in the city, this is one of my favorite places to go eat breakfast/brunch. food is always amazing. cool little place with great atmosphere. In summer time they have a patio are that is just fabulous to sit outside and enjoy your meal. Everyone that works there is extremely nice even when they are extremely busy. On our trip from Paradise into a black hole (Denver), we stopped here for breakfast...to go. It's in an older building, but they keep it clean. Sunflowers are their jam...they even have some growing outside. Their outdoor eating area is nice. Boss lady and I got the breakfast crescent sandwiches (ham and bacon, respectively), which came with potatoes. Mini Boss lady opted for their ham breakfastsandwich, which she said was very tasty. The coffee was just Ok, not a fan of flavored coffee. If you call yourself a Cafe, you should be making To Order coffee. At least the cashier told us where to get better joe. This is the second time I come here. I hear great things about the food/service but my experiences aren't great. I've come on the weekends the first was a Saturday the Aloha burger was excellent, but it was too packed took forever to get the food. The second time, it was also packed on the weekend. Young lady at the register was rude giving attitude to me and my family. I wasn't sure about the type of drinks served and her body posture just screamed "attitude problem". Our order: - Panhandle Omelette w/ extra side of sausage - Brioche Custard French Toast w/ Jalapeño Bacon - Blueberry Scone (for later) - Raspberry Scone (for later) - 2 Coffees Coffee was self-serve from coffee pitchers after being given a couple mugs. Pretty sure the actual coffee being served had a vanilla or hazelnut flavor to it- not sweet- but roasted with flavor. We were pretty hungry and started to break into the scones, but thankfully didn't get too far in because our hot food order arrived in about 10min after ordering. The chef came out to check on us while we were in the middle of our meal, which was a nice touch. With girlfriends or work meetings, Girasol always serves tasty coffee (for a coffee snob like me), fresh and delicious pastries, along with hearty breakfasts! Their jalapeño biscuits and gravy are everything to write home about! The biscuit itself has great flavor and then it's toasted on the skillet, making it browned, and then topped generously with gravy. The bacon and eggs are also great! Each dish on the menu is prepared purposefully, as you'll see from my photos. I recently went with a friend who had never been, and she loved her quiche and salad! Passing through Amarillo at lunch and stopped in for takeout. I ordered the lunch combo with quiche, sweet potato kale salad, and watermelon tea and hubs ordered the Aloha sandwich with a cup of asparagus soup. Service was friendly and efficient and the food tasted fabulous. Restaurant is located behind a Valero gas station, but when you walk through the door, this is quickly forgotten and, if we had been "dining in", we would have opted to sit in the small outdoor (gaden-like) dining space. We pass through Amarillo often and will definitely keep Girasol in mind for breakfast & lunch hours. read more

3 stars for opposite end reviews. The wild rice and mushroom soup was delicious and it's nice to find an alternative to the run of the mill soups in town. Now the bad, the green chili chicken enchiladas tasted like boiled diced chicken, a can of green chilis and two corn tortillas tossed into a bowl with a a can of green enchilada sauce poured over the top.
