While visiting Amarillo, I wanted to try a few local coffee shops while working remotely. Located near the Medi Park area was Strata Coffee Bar, a catch all spot that functions as a coffee shop, bar, and brunch location. When I walked in, the place was absolutely packed with TTUHSC or TTU Vet Med students who were celebrating finishing their final classes for the year. It was quite busy with a large line in front of me, and since I was staying for a while, I was not in a rush. I ordered a lavender latte, and after waiting just over 15 minutes behind the gaggle of people who ordered before me, my hot beverage was ready. I really liked the cup they served it in. It had a cute mountain gradient with their logo on top. The coffee itself was pretty good. It was not anything groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Having to briefly hop on a call with my boss, I went out to their small outdoor patio and took the call. It was also a pretty decent spot for getting some work done. They serve a ton of different options, and it is probably a popular stop for people in the surrounding medical district to get a quick coffee boost. There were also plenty of people drinking beers and mimosas when I came in, celebrating their semester coming to a close at 9:30 in the morning, so good for them. You love a catch all spot. Tried Strata Coffee Bar today--coffee was actually good, no complaints there. But the tipping setup was a bit much... the minimum suggested tip starting at 25% feels pretty unreasonable for a quick coffee order. Yes, you can manually change it, but that shouldn't be necessary just to leave a normal tip. A lower starting option (like 10-15%) would make a lot more sense for this type of service. read more

A very nice, relaxing spot with a friendly staff. There is plenty of seating and the music isn't too loud or distracting. The baristas, as I mentioned, were friendly and happy to make recommendations. I had an espresso and a pour over. The espresso was good; no off flavors or aftertaste. It wasn't exceptional or special, but was good. If you typically have milk drinks, this espresso will make a great foundation for the drink. The pour over was fine, but a little acrid and bitter. I will definitely stop here again next time I pass through. They give Palace a run for their money, and I also prefer the vibe of this place. read more

This is a good place for coffee if you're tired of hotel buffet or room coffee. They had to make us a new pot so it was good and hot. We had been in a week earlier and it was not hot (they add creamer on request and the coffee was not fresh). I had assumed their coffee would be hot but it was only warm. Today it was fresh and hot ( even with creamer). If you truly want fresh coffee order an Americano or other steamed coffee or ask them how fresh the drip is. My niece was part of an art show being held at Strata. It was very handy that it was so close and such a short drive. It's sort of hidden back where you wouldn't necessarily notice it driving by. The coffee was excellent. I was in the mood for an iced coffee because of the warm weather and they were a very accommodating to take one of their regular coffees and put it over ice for me. I decided to try their chicken salad croissant and it was top notch. The art show was great and they had a good crowd attending. Palace was bitter, needed to coarsen their grind and reduce yield. Staff pomposity made me reluctant to speak. 806 Lounge were rude, got verbal with me for putting my plate in the wrong place, and pornographic paintings everywhere. #Dump Strata has consistent pulls, good breakfast, nice staff. Our journey for morning java near our Amarillo hotel started with Yelp. Strata was only a couple blocks away and rated nicely. We walked in and ordered as take away. Our two lattes were great and that's no small accomplishment when substituting soy milk for regular. We also had a cinnamon roll and bacon egg and cheese croissant. Again very tasty, the Canadian bacon was held everything together nicely. This will be a regular stop on our visits going forward. read more

What a nice coffee house. We stopped here on our way through town on vacation. We had a delicious coffee and the ladies working behind the counter were wonderful. I'm sure it gets very busy in the morning, but it wasn't very busy when we were there in the late morning. It's a very relaxing atmosphere with plenty of room to move. If you haven't tried this place, then you should! I randomly found this place after my pulmonary rehab session at Northwest. I was starving and needed a pick me up. I ordered a breakfast croissant and a hot caramel macchiato. The sandwich was made fresh and they SEASON THEIR EGGS! That is so rare at coffee spots. I was pleasantly surprised!
