I have published two books (400 pages with color photos and 200 pages with b/w photos) with Girlie Press and it was a painless and straightforward process in both cases. I was able to upload both cover art (done on PowerPoint in both cases) and text (MS Word) with accompanying PDFs with no issues. Each book required one proof turn and a week later I got the books. I had my save the dates printed here. Girlie Press did a fantastic job for an extremely reasonable price. Their customer service was great: my emails were dealt with very quickly; they helped us pick paper and ink colors, and even suggested a more economical paper for our project (no pushiness to spend more than necessary); everything was done well within the timeline we requested; plus, their office is super cool. We originally tried a copy & print shop that was highly recommend on Yell, but were really disappointed with the quality because it looked like something we printed with our home inkjet. I have been using Girlie Press for Years. It has always been very good and very good quality. The last time I worked with them a few months ago, they sent cards that were not done well. My picture was fuzzy and the light font did not show up it was fuzzy too. They told me it was because the pic PDF was not good and the font was too light. I'm not a printer and didn't know that would be the result I expected them to tell ME. So we agreed I wound't pay them for that time. Since I used them so many times in the past, I thought I would try again, and now they won't work with me. I don't know what has happened, they used to be so great!!! Very disappointing. When I was asked to print 1200 saddle bound booklets in less than a week I was skeptical of finding a printer up to the task. After calling Girlie Press I was assured the job would be completed by EOD Friday even though I was submitting the files late on Monday afternoon. To my surprise the Job was ready by 1pm on Thursday more than 24 hours ahead of schedule. Communication was excellent and the booklets turned out beautifully. Top-notch offset printing for special jobs. They were recommended by a fellow designer. First I went to CK Graphics, had a miserable time there and ended up giving the job to Girlie Press, which was prompt, courteous, professional, top-quality, and were very friendly in providing an education in aspects of the printing process I did not know. My original thought was, "Hey, it's worth more (than CK) to go somewhere this good." But the truth is, they cost LESS than CK Graphics. At least for my business cards. Which look really sharp. I had some customized envelopes made by Girlie Press, and I was very impressed with their customer service and the end product. After the first proof I was in a bit of a panic thinking they couldn't give me even close to what I wanted on my limited budget (could only afford digital printing-- offset is just too pricey), but I went back in to Girlie Press with my designer and talked to one of the employees. She took the time to understand where I thought the proof was falling short, what I wanted, and even explained to me why offset printing is so damn expensive. She offered to do a print test so I could see exactly what my envelopes would look like on the day they were being printing (as digital inks can very day to day) and so I'd have a chance to make any last minute tweaks should it be necessary. The print test came a lot closer to what I wanted and they even took the time to print another copy for me so I could change the color just a hair to match my invites perfectly. I picked the envelopes up today and was so happy with what I got. I'll definitely go back Girlie Press for my future printing needs. read more

I used to use GP regularly - but the owner is so difficult when things veer from the norm - I needed to inquire about a possible rush order and once needed to change the content of a recipient list - and I've now seen her insult her staff in a shockingly demeaning manner in front of customers. Girlie Press Rules! First they do great print jobs and communicate with you effectively. Second, they have a really fast turn-around. Third, they are very affordable and produce quality work. Bonus! They have a pinball machine in their waiting area so on the off chance that you're kept waiting on something you can play really loud pinball. As it was written. The only downside is that currently they don't have a website so you really have to take a chance on a print job. If you do take the leap though it is well worth it. I just called Girlie Press to follow up on a quote request that I sent yesterday and was greeted by a woman who said, "Our internet is down, and i'm really busy right now and can't help you." I am a Seattle graphic designer and I used Girlie Press for my wedding invitations, and I was very frustrated through most of the process. I felt that my project wasn't very important to GP and many of my specifications were disregarded. I had two invitations printed (with gold leaf embossing), a greeting card and a postcard. I noticed that a number of details about my files had been changed in between when I delivered my final PSD files and when I received my first proof. I'm at a loss as to why whoever was handling my files would edit them so drastically. If the edits were necessary to prepare the files for print, then they did an awful job of recreating my designs exactly as I sent them over. 1) On one invitation the DATE of my WEDDING was wrong. The text had been changed from "Friday the Fifteenth of July" to read an entirely different day and date (the same day and date as the OTHER invitation). Unfortunately, this change eluded me during the proofing process and I missed it all together. I am very sad to report that my VERY EXPENSIVE invitations were printed with the completely wrong date. 2) A gold leaf detail (a thick, smooth curved line) on the invitation was apparently deleted out and then re-scribbled in for the proof. I really mean scribbled-- it looked like someone had hastily re-drawn this detail of my design with a mouse in MS paint. Why would Girlie Press delete my nice thick line, and then think I would be ok with their mouse-drawn line? Again, this was a key detail of the design-- it was to be printed with gold leaf. Luckily, I noticed it right away. They fixed it, but their new line was much narrower than I had originally designed and I am again sorry to report that my VERY EXPENSIVE invitations were printed NOT as I had designed them. 3) During the proofing process, the artwork of one of the invitations was displaced by about 30 pixels. Luckily I caught this, but I'm still at a loss as to why it would happen in the first place. 4) During the proofing, there were a number of MISSPELLED words that were not in the files when I delivered them. There were also a number of extra spaces between words and even WITHIN some words. Again, why did Girlie Press go in and edit my text so drastically? 5) Finally, I feel like I was taken advantage of during billing. I was originally quoted one price, and I was told that adding gold foil to my job would only add on another $200 at most. However, when I got the final bill, I found that the price of my job had more than DOUBLED. I also had asked for certain quantities of each item, and my quantities request was disregarded and I was charged for much more than I had ordered. Before the printing had even begun I brought up quantities, and I requested smaller quantities. However, I was told that "The paper has already been ordered." No other print I know would demand that their client order MORE than they needed because they the printer had ordered too much paper. As I said, I feel all in all like my project was NOT important to Girlie Press. They handled it poorly, bungled up a lot of things during the proofing process, and delivered a product that was not what I was expecting for a price much higher than I had been quoted. read more

The owner, Risa, can be quite difficult to work with. She's great when things go well but when you have questions she responds with a very undermining tone. read more

Apparently they are great to deal with when things go well, but I had a problem with the job they did for me and got no response when I asked them to please take a look at it and see if we could figure out what had gone wrong. This person talks about working with the "Good Old Boy" print shops as if it is a bad thing. Trust me she is a Wolf in Sheep's clothing. I have been around print shops for as long as I can remember and have worked for some of those "Good Old Boys" and trust me you are better off dealing with them as she will stab you in the back you know when. As a consumer don't you want to get your work done where you know employees are valued? Just like you want to feel you have some value at you work place or in what you do. Trust me she makes her employees feel like you know what... She is so much worse than any of those "Good Old Boys". At least they are honest and you know what you are going to get. With her she ropes you in and abuses that fact. I worked for this person for a couple of weeks and never in my life did I feel such low self esteem as I did when I worked for her. She would tell me how good I was doing then she would turn and criticize (not constructive but down right abusive) EVERY move I would make, and trust me she will cut you short. I can speak from the inside. PLEASE USE COMPANIES THAT VALUE THEIR EMPLOYEES! read more
