I work in the medical profession. I have moved around a lot over the years so I have seen lots of…read moredoctors and can make some good comparisons. I have been going here for about 6 years so I have seen a few doctors at this practice. I prefer to stick with one when possible but sometimes schedules and urgent issues don't allow that. The doctors (Dr Oh, Dr Khoo, Dr Civitico) I have seen are all very good. They provide thoroughness and consistency that you just don't get at the big commercial chain practices. They do charge above the Medicare fee and ask you to pay the entire fee up front but they do forward the details to Medicare on your behalf for reimbursement directly from medicare for the standard amount. They have an onsite collection centre for HealthScope pathology so you can one stop shop if needed.

Until I actually thought about writing this review I'll be honest and say I never really gave the…read morecalibre of my doctor and her surgery much thought. I mean, she's fantastic and I happily recommend her to people, but can you really get excited about a medical clinic? On reflection though, I found that it's possible to think about your experiences in that place to date and realise you have very little to fault. I see two doctors at this clinic - Dr Trish Civitico and Dr Graeme Edwards. Both are great! Whilst Collins Place does bulk bill, a regular appointment will still need you to pay a certain amount over and above that. After your Medicare rebate, it works out to be about $15. They do however bulk bill vaccinations and the full cost is covered. I started going to CPMC when I worked across the road... and whilst I no longer work there, I still make the trip into the city because the experience here is consistently great... and when you're sick, you want consistency and predictability, right?

I've been on a bit of a hunt for a better local doctor. I've had some great Yelp recommendations,…read morebut they've either been unable to take on new patients or been just that little bit too far for a casual doctor visit. I decided to check out the Port Melbourne Medical centre after passing the newish looking building. They have a number of female doctors there (more so than male doctors actually), which makes it a great option for women. They all seem to work on alternative days, so you might not see the same one every time if you have an appointment that can't wait. I initially saw Dr. Rebecca, who was absolutely lovely. Her relaxed nature made me feel immediately comfortable chatting with her and she was straight forward without being at all rude or abrupt as I have experienced at other clinics. I've also seen Dr Sarah Lewis who has become my regular doctor and she's been wonderful - helpful and compassionate. The clinic itself is new and bright. It doesn't feel dingy and depressing. They offer pathology services for the first half of each day, which is handy to not have to go to another location if you need a blood test for any reason. Hoping not to make a habit of going, but it's always nice to know they're there!

This clinic has been mismanaging my mother's medical care for more than a year now. First she…read moredeveloped a shooting pain down her leg which was dismissed as a simple muscle strain. Actually she had a prolapsed disk in her lower back which was compressing a nerve. Eventually the pain became so excruciating we had to take her to the ED. Then she ended up with congestive cardiac failure which for months was not identified - or misidentified - as 'lymphoedema'. In the end her legs became so swollen with fluid that they started blistering and she got cellulitis- requiring yet another hospital admission. Don't expect this clinic or its doctors to provide any apology or accountability however (they are of course very quick to put their hand out for money). Part of the problem here is that the Dr's are constantly coming and going, or only work at the clinic part time, or are always 'on holiday'. Hence you are lucky if you get to see the same Dr twice in a row (bad for continuity of care). Of the Dr's that do work here regularly, it appears many don't live in the area and hence lack local knowledge. When my mother's leg wounds became so bad they could no longer be managed at home, one of the clinic's GP requested me to take my mother to the (non-existent) Emergency Department at Kyneton country hospital! Some of the Dr's here are pleasant to deal with but most make up for their lack of competence with a condescending, know-it-all attitude. Reception staff are unhelpful and dismissive - and have been known to change the Dr you are seeing without letting you know. The only staff who are any good at all are the nurses. Very poor clinic, if I could give you 0 stars I would.

There's a triage out the back which is free of charge if you need things like stitches etc or an emergency. It's cheap, comfy waiting rooms with tvs and books. They have a wide variety of tests and options. Blood test, Pap smear, hearing check, general check up, mental health info, etc. I would recommend it to absolutely everyone.
