I've had scoliosis since kid (very common when you wear heavy backpack on one shoulder or play a single dominant arm sport like Tennis), and I also have L6 (its a congenital anomaly, most people are born with 5 Lumbars on lower back but I was born with 6, so L5 and L6 are always fighting for the single spot). So, needless to say I am in forever in constant need of care because when my lower back is overworked or pulled when I am careless, I'm in immediate pain. I have been seeing Dr. Serena Penn and she is very knowledgeable and has adjusted my lower back and helped me with my knee pain (which is caused my my lower back and glutes from prolonged sitting). She's also given me very easy, passive exercise that I can do on daily basis and they have significantly improved my condition. If you have lower back pain or if you're in need of adjustment, I would suggest to go here. I also really appreciate that they're not judgemental about pains you describe because joint, muscle and nerve pains are sometimes extremely hard to describe because they come and go. They listen and make sure to correctly diagnose you before adjustment. Lastly, very friendly staff, and you know exactly how much you will be charged before you go in for care so no surprise bills that randomly show up in the mail. I trusted that I would get the same care that I give to my massage clients...........I was wrong........... A heavy-set man with beard to his waist told me that he was my massage therapist. I couldn't back out of it, so I just went with it. He just worked on the back of my legs and arms with plastic ball. He asked what the pain was between 1 - 10. I screamed that it was 8 and he laughed. Then he put heating pads on my thighs and that felt good. It only lasted about 10 minutes. Then the torture was back. He put big ice packs on my thighs. I screamed and told him that I didn't like that, and he just laughed. He told me that he saw 8 clients for a massage per day. He torcher 8 people? Bad Karma. I felt sorry for him. And not enough to leave him a tip. And when I got home there was a rash under my arm. Nothing else helped except "prednizone" cream. I healed it. If I would treat my clients at the Phoenix Healing Arts massage like that, they wouldn't come back. We have to treat others with love and respect, because it creates good energy and comes back to us as a good Karma.

The part of the visit that made me the happiest was leaving. For years I had heard people talk lowly about chiropractors; about how no one is ever totally fixed; about how you always need to come back; and all sorts of other scam talk. When I left the office I was thanked for coming in and that was the end of the story. She knew I didn't have a serious problem and so she didn't try to get me to come back in. I was fortunate enough to meet a young lady that had referred me to Dr. Steven Chittenden. I called an he immediately got me in that same day. I had went to him 3 times a week, for several weeks.
