Give Realty is a very unique business model. I wish I could say I participated in it because I went looking for a home buying experience that was about more than just buying a home, but that's not exactly how it happened. My husband and I had worked with Laurie Lowe before, when we bought our first home a few years back. We were so satisfied with the experience that, when it came time to upgrade to a bigger house, I looked her up to see if she was still in the business. That's when I learned about her new agency. We didn't find our second home as fast as we found our first home, because we had a taller order. But Laurie was very patient, encouraging and supportive throughout the process, and helped us find the right house. When we bought our first house, she did an excellent job of championing us to get the seller to agree to the necessary repairs, which they were very resistant to. Fortunately, our new house didn't have so many problems, so that wasn't such a struggle this time. But Laurie was wonderful about making the whole process very smooth, easy, and convenient. She made herself very available to show us the 30 some odd homes that we looked at, after hours and on weekends. As for her business model, Give Realty donates 25% of every comission to the charity of the client's choice, whether you're buying or selling a house. Because of her, we donated over $1700 to the Williamson County Humane Society, and I understand that Give Realty's donations are up around a total of $180,000 since they started. First off, Give Realty has made many astounding contributions to the community through their charitable donations. This was my first time buying property, and I also had a uniquely complicated situation and needed to close within a matter of a few months after I started searching. I found Give Realty to be heads and shoulders above the rest of the realtors I tried, nine others in total. I had the fortunate luck of finding Give Reality via a newsletter from Meals on Wheels. When I first saw the article on Give Reality in the Meals on Wheels newsletter, and owner and founder Laurie Loew, I thought it was typo! No way does any business give 25% of its gross income to non-profits, but to my complete surprise it is true! I found Laurie to know her business, her community, and live up to her word on donating. Laurie and her team gave me back some faith in people. Laurie never makes you sign a contract knowing full well that her expertise will ensure that you go with her and Give Reality. Laurie counseled me through the house hunting process and she helped me grow and find the home I will be happy with long term. Laurie has time for you if you are looking for a $25,000 condo or if you are looking for a seven or eight figure dollar home. Laurie knows no matter how much you are putting into a home it is a big investment for you and she works to help you make the right decision for you and no one else. Some of the best advice Laurie gave me is to know whom you want to call for any type of separate home inspection/home repair whether it be electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc before you put a bid in on a house. Things I learned myself through the process that I offer to anyone looking for a home: 1) order transcripts of your taxes yourself (it is free) and make sure they match your paper or electronic returns; 2) do not for one moment believe you are fine if you have been preapproved for a loan, really preapprovals are a complete joke; 3) plan to close at least 15 days earlier than the scheduled close date; and 4) go with the loan guy Laurie recommends. I stayed with the loan guy I had been with previously and I lived to regret it by a tune of almost $3,500 and I had to endure the stress of nearly losing my home and many more thousands of dollars. You do nothing more than you would otherwise when buying home, but you get the added bonus of sizable donation made in your name to a non-profit of your choice! So, this lady gives away her money! She gives away her money to the organization of YOUR CHOICE! Need I say more? Oh, yes, there is so much more to say. Sure, the reason I called Laurie when I needed a realtor was because I really liked the idea of being able to benefit some of my favorite non-profits here in Austin, but what I quickly realized - as I'm sure all of her other clients have too - is that she is one heck of a realtor and will give you the best service you've ever experienced! Laurie knows the market and knows the pitfalls a buyer should avoid. Laurie is also very patient and low pressure while at the same time being there for you, and I mean there like five minutes ago. I bought two houses through Laurie which involved probably about 50 phone calls and emails and I don't think I ever waited longer than an hour or two for a response, and usually it was a matter of minutes. I'm not kidding! She is so sharp and attentive to detail both on the people end and with the paperwork. And she will let you decide what you're going to pay for a house; she will advise, but she never presses. Laurie also has a real backbone when it comes to standing up to the other parties involved if need be. She's just got what it takes all the way around. Buying two houses with Laurie was great fun; but the best part of all was visiting the non-profits for the check presentation!
