Such a wonderful experience! Everyone who works here is incredibly kind and they are very respectful of your budget. At one point I pointed out another dress I was interested in and my stylist, Madeleine, mentioned it was $40 over my budget and she wanted to be respectful of my stated parameters. I tried on the dress anyway but found one I loved which was under my budget (woohoo). They also have great tailors/seamstresses on hand to provide guidance/feedback and the pricing there is very reasonable as well. This place is an A+. Kindest and most caring owner. I actually stopped in without an appointment looking for a comb for my daughter to wear to her wedding. I was needing the comb to sew my own veil into for my daughter to wear - and what does the owner do - she gives me one for free. HOW KIND! My next visit was to look for a very specific look for my daughter's rehearsal dinner - again we stopped in to browse and the owner informed us that her inventory was a little low for this - they really focus on the gowns but we can look around - and then made a suggestion to go to another store which is exactly where we found what we were looking for. Suzi is incredibly professional and warm, and her expertise helped me feel comfortable and confident trying on dresses. I learned that all of the stylists have degrees in design, so they are knowledgeable about what alterations are possible; in each dress I tried on, Suzi helped me imagine the possible changes that could be made without making unrealistic promises. The space itself is inviting and cheery, and the shop made accommodations to fit my 5 guests. Suzi graciously had me continue trying on dresses well over our hour-long appointment time! Honestly had a pretty bad time shopping here. Thank god it wasn't my first time wedding dress shopping because I'd be super depressed about the concept moving forward. First, we arrived 10 minutes early for a 1:30pm appt, and had time to browse the front room while we waited (which honestly was my favorite part) then....we weren't given our sitting area until 1:55pm, where i told the stylist i specifically wanted a variety of necklines (halter, one shoulder, reverse scoop, anything not sweetheart) and asked for small details (specifically asking for pearls or a bow of sorts). None of my requests were honored or heard.. She pulled two honestly really shitty dresses made of chiffon which were worse than trying on high school prom dresses from 2012... and only got one dress with a halter to try on which also was made of really bad fabrics and poor taste. It was very disappointing all around as my stylist didn't seem to take any of my feedback given on her initial dresses she grabbed for me to try on. i got no fine details and no variety of neck lines to try on. Very honestly crappy they didnt listen to those two necessities? also, only got to try on a few dresses, and appointment awkwardly fizzled out and we were on our way out the door at 2:20 SO only had room time from 1:50-2:20... when it was supposed to be a full hour??? For a place that threatens a $100 cancellation fee you'd think they would have better service/scheduling in place. It felt honestly disrespectful. I had an absolutely lovely experience where Grace was very attentive to what I said I was looking for while also providing opportunities to try on other styles just in case. I was a bit nervous about trying on dresses here since they only carry up to a size 14 wedding dress. I am a street size 10/12 and I emailed them to make sure it was not going to be an issue. They guaranteed me it would not be and that they could pin me to make me feel good in the dress. The girl did such a terrible job of making me looking and feel confident in the dress. I got no words of affirmation from or confirmation on how it would look if it fit properly. I walked away from this shop feeling embarrassed in front of my family that came with me and sad about this being the first place I tried on dresses at. I would not recommend this place. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about Weddings 826. I found out a month before my wedding that my seamstress was in an accident and was not going to be able to finish my alterations before my wedding. I frantically called around trying to find someone to do my alterations (also it is September and in the busiest wedding season time). Suzi and her team were booked. I explained to her my situation and her and the team were going to make it work. They were going to get all my alterations done in 3 weeks from when I called. My original seamstress team was able to complete my alterations. The service and accommodations Suzi and her team were willing to make for me goes above and beyond client service. I did not get work done but I can speak on the service and care they showed for a stranger!! They are good people who truly care about their clients. read more

This was the first place where I had an appointment to try on wedding dresses. It was a mixed experience. I came with my mom, and we made the appointment well in advance because she had flown into town for the weekend to help me find my dress. At first we were given a large and beautiful dressing room that was gorgeously decorated. However, about 15 minutes into the appointment, we were asked to move into a smaller more run-down looking room in the back with no natural light in order to accommodate another bride with a large entourage. This was slightly annoying but didn't bother us all that much. Now for the rest of my review: Pros: the first fitting room that we were given for trying on dresses before being asked to move was beautiful, and we were offered champagne upon arrival. The consultant was friendly and she was not pushy at all. Cons: I found it frustrating that we were not allowed to browse the dresses ourselves and pull things to try on--we had to rely completely on the associate since the majority of the dresses are located in a back storage room (there are a few in the front), which apparently only the store employees have access to. So in the end, I was not able to choose dresses myself that I wanted to try on--the associate chose which dresses to pull based on my feedback I relayed to her. I appreciate that the consultant was respectful of my budget, but she kept pulling form-fitting dresses when I made it pretty clear that I was more interested in A-line silhouettes. There were supposedly hundreds of dresses in this storage room, but we were not allowed access to it. This annoyed my mom, as she is the one person in the world who truly knows what looks best on me. I feel that had she been allowed to actually see the options to try on, then we would have had a much better shot at finding my dress here. Tip: if you don't bring a large entourage, then you may not get to use the nice dressing room. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from here as well as had my alterations done. I had a great experience dress shopping; the staff was so helpful and kind, and really gave me exactly what I was looking for. The only thing was that I did not want a strapless dress because I didn't want to be worried about my dress falling down on my wedding day, but everyone convinced me that after alternations the dress would fit perfectly. For convenience, I decided to have my alterations done at Weddings 826 as well. As another review noted, they talked me into ordering a size larger, and when the dress came in it was HUGE. As a result, the seams didn't line up on the sides once altered. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. After multiple fittings, and after saying every single time that the top needs to fit better, that it's not staying up, and being assured that it would be adjusted, I went in for my last fitting. Put the dress on, looked great, loved it, lifted my arm up to adjust my hair and it fell down. Like I flashed my mom in the room. The tailor said "Well there are certain movements you just can't make". Like moving my arm? She very nicely accused me of losing weight (I hadn't) and said that she would make it tighter. She did, I went to my last fitting, and yes, it seemed like things were fine. Looking back, I should have asked for more structure, and moved around a LOT more. Because on the day, I was constantly pulling my dress up. It didn't look great. The top is bunched and wrinkled in most of the photos. And because it was always moving southward, I unconsciously adopted a posture of pushing my stomach out to keep the dress from moving down. Not a great look. Also, I spent $175 on a bustle that lasted 20 minutes. I thought the ties had come undone, but no. The ties that she had sewn into the dress had just ripped right out of the dress. There was no fixing the bustle. I carried around my train all night. So, I would recommend Weddings 826 to shop for a dress, however I would not recommend alterations. read more

Had a very interesting experience here. It was a cute salon and when you walked in they offered coffee, champagne and water. We got a private room and tons of space. However the stylist we were working with turned the experience pretty sour. She was less then friendly and not very personal. She didn't ask the bride, my sister, many questions to learn about her or the wedding. My sister was really excited about a designer they had here but after trying on 3 dresses she came back and said she was ready to go. Which was sad because she LOVED one of the dresses but the experience was so bad she said she just wanted to leave. Hoping it was an off day for the stylist! *UPDATE: The owner messaged me to come back in with a new stylist but since we were visiting from out of town we couldn't go back in. BLACK BRIDES AND THOSE WHO STAND AGAINST RACISM PLEASE TAKE YOUR DOLLARS ELSEWHERE! I had the worst experiences shopping at 826 Wedding for my wedding dress and I'm certain my experiences would have been different if I were a white woman. I made an appointment to shop and was determined to leave with a dress because they carried the designers I liked and I was pressed for time. The owner took care of me and I could tell she did not want to serve me and did not believe I was going to buy a dress. I saw a dress in the window that was around $3000 and asked if I could try it on. The dress was taken off the mannequin and taken to my dressing room. While on the way to my room I saw another white girl walking out of her dressing room and stepping on a pedestal in a lit mirrored room to see how she looked in the dress. At this time the owner asked me if I already had a wedding dress and just had buyer remorse? I thought this was an odd question because I already told her I did not have a dress, I really need one, and was coming to buy what she had in stock. I asked why was my dress removed from my waiting room and was asked to wait until the other girl was done with it. When I finally got the dress I tried it on in a dimly lit room in the back of the store. I felt rushed to leave but needed a dress. I asked if I could walk to the lit area in the front of the store and see how I looked in the mirrors. I felt like I was asking a favor. I had to ask the owner to help me spread the dress out so I could see how I looked in the mirrors. I was treated like a waste of time the entire time I was there. She only helped me in passing and never gave me her full attention even though I had an appointment. The white girl who was there being catered to by a couple of people left without making a purchase. I decided I loved the dress so I asked the owner to give me the total cost of the dress with all the alterations. A few minutes later she stood at the doorway and handed me a paper with the prices on it and told me she called an Uber to take her home because she had to get to dinner with her family. I had an appointment that was served in less than 30 minutes. Please know I was rushed the entire time. I only tried on one other dress while I was waiting for my dress to be freed up, I did not waste any of this lady's time. I was probably one of the quickest sales she has ever had. The total cost was around $4000 because alterations were $950. I looked at the sheet and said I will take it. I could tell she was surprised and told me her Uber arrived and someone else will finish with me. After she left I immediately told the staff member I felt discriminated against. I live in a white community and was previously married to a white man so I'm used to being around white people and can tell when I'm dealing with a racist. I told the staff member I wish I did not have to deal with this sort of discrimination but I still felt blessed because neither one of my grandmothers were allowed to try on dresses in a bridal shop when they got married so I was grateful to the opportunity to shop where I choose. I believe if segregation was allowed no blacks would be allowed in 826 Weddings. I went to the store for 4 fittings and each time saw white women catered to. The best part of my experience by far was the alterations. During my last alteration, the owner showed me a new veil, which cost $250. It was 120"x120" and had a beautiful dramatic appearance that I fell in love with. The veil did not have a blusher so the store special ordered my veil from the designer. I confirmed with the staff that the veil ordered was 120"x120" and was told yes. I was charged $450 for the veil. I picked my dress up right before closing the day before my wedding. The morning of my wedding I went to put on my veil and noticed it was not 120"x120" but instead a regular veil I could have bought anywhere for $125. When I called the store the lady admitted there was a mistake in the ordering on their part and she would bring another 120"x120" veil without a blusher they had in stock to the W-Chicago Lakeshore hotel where my wedding was taking place. I was getting dressed and waiting for my veil to arrive to leave with the photographer but no veil had arrived. I had no choice but to go to the Civic Opera House and take my pictures with no veil. When I returned from my pictures I called to see when my veil would arrive and the lady said the owner said she could not bring me the veil I have to come to get it and pay full price. She also said I have to pay the full $450 for the veil I have since I wore it in my pictures. That is when I informed her I was photographed with no veil. I told her it was time for me to get married and I need a veil and requested a discount on the veil I had since it's nothing special it and they made the mistake of ordering the wrong veil. I was told the owner said there is nothing they are willing to do! read more

I wasn't really thrilled about wedding dress shopping, having always struggled to find dresses that look right on me (big bust, tiny waist, bit of a tummy, short torso, and curves everywhere does not make clothes shopping easy for me). After getting engaged I was hesitant to even get a traditional wedding dress. But after shopping, and picking out my wedding dress, at Weddings 826, I was finally on board with being--and looking--like a bride. The shop itself is adorable; quaint and cozy, without any of the overwhelming feelings that other bridal salons can have. The staff was super friendly, offering us water, coffee, and/or champagne as soon as we walked in. Don't let the somewhat minimal amount of dresses in their front space fool you; there's a ton more dresses stored in the back (I think they just put the newest ones out front). I found a couple I wanted to try on in the front room, and after telling my consultant the types of styles I was looking for, what I definitely was not looking for, and my concerns, she went in the back and grabbed a bunch more options for me. I tried on several dresses I liked, and eventually found "the one." I opted to use Weddings 826 for my alterations, too, and was thrilled to not have to seek out another vendor to do that. I was hoping to make my strapless dress work without having to wear a strapless bra underneath, but after two fittings where their seamstress did her best to make that happen, it was clear that I would need a strapless bra afterward. I called them asking for a quick pop-in appointment between my second and final fitting to try the dress on with the bra I had just purchased, and they were very accommodating. A lovely space with a wide variety of dresses (and accessories! I got my earrings there, too!), and a friendly, helpful staff, I would highly recommend making Weddings 826 a stop on your dress hunting mission. read more

I walked into Weddings 826 in January 2022 from a recommendation by James Ciccotti (amazing wedding accessories), after I ended up finding out that I was allergic to a dress I had purchased from a different boutique. It was a super stressful situation, but the team at Weddings 826 seriously saved the day! My wedding was May 2022 so they quickly made me a same day appointment and then pulled all the dresses I could purchase off the rack. They ended up insisting I try on one I wasn't sure I liked, and sure enough it was perfect. From there they were able to make speedy alterations and it was such a relief to have a dress that I felt comfortable in, with an amazing support system from the girls in the store. I literally showed up crying the first day and they took care of me all the way through to my final fitting and pick up! Their response was so quick and they set me up for an appt. the next day! It was nothing short of amazing. Had such a wonderful experience at Weddings 826! We were offered champagne and a private room. It was a bit difficult to browse through the dresses on the waterfall racks. After speaking with your consultant, they will bring out dresses from the back, so don't worry if you don't find anything up at the front. Kayla did not disappoint. She brought out so many nice pieces that complemented my body type. She was very friendly and professional. I must have tried on at least ten dresses but she was very patient with me. Kayla wrote the name of the dress that I fell in love with and even made a little drawing on the back of her business card. I literally can't say enough good things about weddings 826 - they saved my wedding. I came in crying on the Sunday before my wedding with a dress that had been altered terribly and still didn't fit. Rachel then did an amazing job explaining how/what she could fix while still managing my expectations. they scheduled me on Tuesday & Thursday for fittings. By Thursday I (and the staff) was amazed at how much better it fit. Rachel was so so wonderful to work with. The owner & manager were also extremely kind & they offered to waive a fee for me due to the stress of the situation. I felt like I paid a reasonable amount for what they did for me.
