He does not return calls or emails or any form of communication. I have OVERPAID for the deck (as I had contracted them to do other work (windows/floors) and paid half of EVERYTHING up front... which hasn't even been started). In the process of seeking out a lawyer to get money returned since I am getting snowballed with lack of communication, so that this deck can FINALLY be finished. He finally came out and told me it was still wired for a heat pump. After that the unit would freeze up inside and out. He said he would be out to check it....in July 2018, I'm still waiting. I got through most of the winter because we had a pellet stove. The pellet stove stopped working and we had to use the furnace and my electric bill was $500 for one month. And now it's freezing up again.

Everything started out fine until I gave them the required money to purchase the equipment. Then it was a challenge getting them out, always had excuses on why they couldn't make it or even better not showing up and not communicating. Quality of work was not to par, the pvc drain line had to be fixed 3 times first time looked like it was cut with a butter knife. They set the ac unit in place after cutting the old lines and never hooked ac unit up, they told me it's better to hook it up when it's warmer but they never capped the copper lines so moisture got into the lines. I ended up paying another company in May to finish hooking up my ac. I was suppose to receive a new ac pad, ac disconnect and ac cover which I never received, the other company that finished the job provided it. Backus offered a refund for unfinished work back in April but I have still yet to receive any refund. They will not reply to any of my recent communications. I know of one other family that is also very dissatisfied, I am curious how many others are going through similar situation with this company. So to end this review, I am very dissatisfied with my experience and quality of work from Backus Heating and Cooling. I refuse to ever use/refer them ever again. If you are looking for Heating and Cooling work use caution on who you pick.

They came, assessed and won my trust and business. We religiously care for and service our furnace as I don't want it to fail in the dead of winter. After looking at our furnace, Care told us that they did not see a need to replace it - that it checked out tine. We also had them service the AC unit which, knock on wood, has a been a gem and never yet failed us. They not only did the service, they made recommendations on how to maximize the cool air where it was wanted by shutting off the areas where we don't need it! I wish I would have known this was possible 25 years ago! As I freeze in the north side of the house while the hubby sweats in the south side. I work from home and my office is in the cool part and his TV room is in the south. We get direct sun that heats up that room quickly. Bottom line - this company is the bomb. One I look forward to having service our HVAC needs in the future.
