I was in Atlantic Beach on vacation and had a rental vehicle. I already had to trade it out once due to a check engine light. Then the tire pressure warning came on with the replacement vehicle. I was away from home - no tire pressure gauge or standard places to get air (isn't that part of the reason you rent a car - for the worry-free aspect??). I couldn't immediately find a gas vendor with air so I took a chance based on the reviews and stopped by City Tire. The reviews are true! The (manager / owner?) reassured me that air is hard to find in the area and it was good I stopped by, especially with a 450 mile drive ahead of me the next day. A young guy IMMEDIATELY offered to check it out. The tire with the low pressure (the vehicle does at least have the technology to pinpoint which tire is the issue!) was off in two minutes. He checked thoroughly for a nail/screw or leak, filled all to correct pressure and I was out of there in 15 mins! On top of that, they weren't going to charge me. The younger guy actually said he didn't do anything! I insisted on giving him some cash at least. Seriously, you never get old school service and integrity like this anywhere anymore. I am grateful to them (and feel terrible I didn't even get their names!). If you have any tire needs and you're anywhere close to Morehead City, go here!!

I brought my 2012 Ford F150 to Gene's Audio after running into battery drain issues that pointed to…read morethe aftermarket audio system (2019) and rear-view camera (2024) installed by Gene's according to our local Ford dealership. When I dropped the truck off, Gene indicated that he was pretty sure the problem would be with the interface in the truck and he figured I would get the truck back the following day (Friday, 29 May). At 2pm Friday afternoon I called Gene's to ask about the truck and was told it wasn't the interface problem they anticipated and would require further troubleshooting. No completion estimate was provided. Called again on Monday, no update or estimate Called at 5pm Tuesday and was told higher profitable jobs got worked before my truck did and he would get mine fixed as soon as he could. I asked him if he could at least communicate with me as to the status updates... Wednesday no communication received Thursday morning at 1008am Gene sends this text... "John, just wanted to stay in touch." I walked into his shop about 2 minutes later and got the same "non-update" as on Tuesday. He did share with me that he had logged 3 hours troubleshooting over the last 7 days. I told Gene that based on his scheduling process it could take him 6 months to fix the truck... his response was along the line of...oh it won't take 6 months... Thursday noon I sent him the following text: "If you can find the time to solve the problem with our Ford F150 pickup today that would be beyond awesome! If not, I'd appreciate it if you could put her back in the condition she was in when you got her so I could settle up with you and pick her up tomorrow morning. I cannot afford to just keep hoping you will find time to solve the mystery." I called Gene's at 4pm Thursday and asked the gal that answered if they could confirm they had received my text. She indicated Gene had gotten it and his response was "no problem". On Friday morning I was told the truck was fixed. It was the interface originally thought to be the problem... $180 for parts, $600 for 4 hours labor. I'll give him credit for letting me know I was not his priority and he'd get to my truck when he could, after he already had my truck in the shop. I'll also never do business with him again and would never recommend him to anyone else for any kind of repair/troubleshooting.

When I picked up my car, I noticed the "check engine" light was on, and the "hood ajar" light was on, so I went back in and asked Floyd why these lights were on since they were not on previously, and he said just bring it back some time, and he will fix it. I took it back two days ago for them to fix these two lights and to let them know the hood seems to shake and move when I am driving at any speed over 40 MPH, and they said they would fix that too. I went back to get my car yesterday, and not only did they not fix the two warning lights that stay on constantly and told me I would just have to live with that, and they did not fix the hood, and now my A/C magically no longer works. I noticed hot air blowing out of my A/C when I first started my car. I saw they had the MAX/AC on, but hot air was coming out. I go back into his filthy shop and tell him my A/C is blowing hot air out and ask him, "What did you do to my car?" He said, "We didn't do anything; it must be a coincidence!" I said, "No, my car's A/C worked perfectly when I dropped it off and you need to fix whatever you have done," so he had two of his workers start looking at fuses and working under my hood. I waited for three hours as they messed with my car and they did not fix anything and said they would take it to Family Tire the next morning and get them to look at it. Well, they never took it anywhere and basically told me, tough luck! What Floyd doesn't know is I took pictures of his son and the other "workman" messing with my car. My son was with me when both of them admitted, "Yep, it was working when you brought it in," and I'm a law student! I had Floyd write on an estimate sheet what he did to my car and I have the original invoice showing I paid him over $4000 to repair my car, and now, I think it's time to go to small claims court. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS DUMP!

I was able to wiggle the alternator by hand, which caused the belt to slip and unstable voltage. This triggered multiple codes including O2 sensor heater codes. Once I tightened it myself, some of the codes went away. Still feeling with residual electrical problems from that. Bad business these guys. STAY AWAY!
