I am a Marine who has been stationed all over the country. One of the hardest things is to find a mechanic you can trust. When we arrived here in 2008, I tried a number of repair shops and found myself having to take my vehicle back for the same repairs. An acquaintance told me about Baldree's Tire & Service. I took my vehicle to them and was pleasantly surprised with the service. From the moment I entered the facility, the front office staff was very friendly and courteous. The vehicle was repaired in a timely manner and all the repairs were explained to me in plain english, not mechanic talk, so I understood what was going on. I have taken all of my vehicles to Baldree's for maintenance and tires ever since. They just do it right. One time I was not completely satisfied with the repair and Mr. Baldree personally talked with me and ensured that the vehicle was repaired to my satisfaction. They charged an exorbitant amount to replace my alternator and battery (battery was 2 months old) and on top of that did not tighten the alternator enough. I was able to wiggle the alternator by hand, which caused the belt to slip and unstable voltage. This triggered multiple codes including O2 sensor heater codes. Once I tightened it myself, some of the codes went away. Still feeling with residual electrical problems from that. Bad business these guys. STAY AWAY! read more

Baldrees has done multiple works on my truck, ball joints, inspections, basic alignments, deletions, and even advice. They are very insightful and do an amazing job everytime. Gary will let you know whether it's something they can do or not and are very generous with pricing. They have helped me on many occasions for very many situations. Took my car here for the first time and left in tears because they made me feel stupid and made fun of me. Took it in to get rebalanced and ended up needed a new tire which was fine I'm okay with that but when they told what was wrong they were being so condescending and when I went out to make a phone call they were showing other customers my wheel and what was wrong with it . Called the day prior to set up an appointment to get my tires changed out balanced and an alignment done, and was told that I don't need one and I could just drop it off and I would be taken care of. the next morning I dropped my vehicle off at about 1030. Two hours later it's 1230 and the vehicle hasn't been moved at all. I leave for another two hours and come back at 230 and still the vehicle hasn't been moved. So I decide to sit in store and wait. Within 20 minutes the vehicle was pulled in. Finally they finish at 430. A job that took an hour and a half to do ended up taking 6 hours. Not happy at all about that wait time and Im wondering if I had waited there to begin with would I have helped sooner Instead of waiting 6 hours. read more

I'm very dissatisfied with the service, I live right around the corner and was told that my tires would be done in and hour and a half, after walking home and waiting an hour and a half my car was still sitting on the lot, with unchanged tires, completely untouched, they told me that if I am not waiting directly in the lobby then walk-in's will be 'snuck in before me' I then proceeded to wait in the lobby another half hour for my car to be moved, it was again not touched, i believe this to be very unprofessional as I should not be told I am going to receive such and such service and that service not be delivered read more

Reading some of these negative reviews are not and have not been my experience. We started going to Baldrees in 2004 when we moved here from Okinawa. I wouldn't bring my vehicle any where else. Always great and professional staff. Very friendly and family oriented. They never pressure you to purchase anything, and they always provide multiple options for you to consider. I left my car there with a simple ignition problem, on the day before Thanksgiving.The Friday a week after Thanksgiving they had not even touched it. And then they had the nerve to tell me when handing my key back that there was no charge. No charge for doing no thing? How magnanimous of them! First time taking my car to baldrees for my annual inspection. Usually I go to another auto shop in havelock to get it inspected and it always passed the inspection with no issues and no new modifications have been applied to my vehicle since then. Today they failed my inspection because my rear tint was not in regulations according to the machine they use and keep in mind my vehicle has pass previous inspection without any issue from the other auto shop I go to in havelock. When I called the manager asking her what was the deal for failing my inspection .. she proceeded to explain to me the whole bs of how everything is a liability.. which is understandable.... but never again I will do business with baldrees tire in havelock especially when it comes to vehicle inspection... I felt like I was scammed out of my money ... I wish I could give them 0 stars.. read more

4pm It's Friday the 13th. I'm on my way Richmond Va to Harkers Island, Nc. Got a flat tire right outside Havelock. I've got my Wonder Woman shirt on so I psyche myself up to change this tire to the spare!! Nice gentleman who owns Stallings Lawn Care stopped to help me for the next hour to get the spare on, find out the spare is flat, went back to his business to get an air compressor and get my spare workable for the short run. Knew I needed a new tire so I started researching tire dealerships in the area. Called a place in Beaufort that my family has used for years and they could not care less if I made it home safe. I called Greg at Baldree and he answered right away and was so nice. I told him my situation and asked if he could help me with a tire. He checked and found one in stock and assured me he would fix my tire before closing at 5:30. I pulled in at 5:10pm and told my situation to the lady at the front desk. She assured me that they would not leave me stranded. My tire was fixed by 5:30pm! Everyone was so nice and helpful. I highly recommend them! The down side of writing great reviews is that the establishment gets real busy. But.... The service is great, the prices are reasonable, the staff is polite and courteous and the waiting room always feels friendly (seems like fun place to hang out even if you aren't getting work done). I got to the shop at 1220 and asked for a four wheel alignment. There was another customer ahead of me who's vehicle was already on the lift. They said they would try to get me in after. I wish I could give this place negative stars! Been there many times over the years and although they generally "did the job", most of the work has been sloppy and the staff are very unfriendly and rude. The last straw was when my brother took his truck there to get the brakes worked on where they quoted an exuberant price to replace the pads and then decided to replace other parts they didn't provide in the estimate (illegal in NC). After trying to get someone to call us back for two days, we were eventually told that what they fixed wasn't even the real problem that we originally took the truck in for, and wanted us to pay even more money! After reluctantly doing so as the only option they gave was to remove the parts (and not reinstall the half working parts) and the truck was now in a state where it couldn't even drive away, we took it to another shop to find out they never even fixed what they said and we paid for! We finally had to get the Owner on the phone in order to get a rude explanation where he was blaming us for the problems! $400 wasted on the worst auto mechanic work ever! Do not take your vehicle here unless you like playing Russian roulette with your chances of getting it fixed. read more

In regards to the owners comment, I never once stated that he ruined my oil pan because my wifes gender. He wasn't paying attention just as the person who took the plug out was doing. What I stated was he was feeding my wife a load of lies probably because of her gender because the stories I recieved and she recieved were different. As far as getting my oil changed at another place, that was an old sticker thank you. I cannot possibly say enough about Baldree's of Havelock and Gary Baldree in particular. I live in Pittsburgh PA and am in the process of purchasing a vehicle in Havelock NC that I found on AutoTrader.com. I was looking for an objective and knowledgeable set of eyes to give me a professional and honest opinion about the vehicle. I found Gary via Google, and I couldn't be happier. Not only did he drive down and pick the vehicle up from the dealership, he spent nearly two hours going over it with a fine tooth comb. He sent me several pictures as he worked of things he saw and found. He wasn't done being incredible though - he tried to tell me he wanted no money for the work. After insisting that I was going to pay him for his time, he agreed to accept $30... $30!!! For two hours of work! That would never happen around here, that's for sure. I cannot say enough. Do not take your car here they totaled my brand new 14 day old scooter. i drove it there fine but i had to push it back after an oil change. Find that very funny i drove it to the bay fine hand them the keys and had to push it 9 miles home. They did not care while i was pushing my ride across 70 traffic. A mom and pop level of customer service with a completely professional atmosphere. Quality service at reasonable prices. They're not exactly cheap, but you do get everything you pay for. They've never once tried to inflate my bill. They even cut me a break here and there. They only charged me half price on an alignment because the vehicle was already near perfect. They do take a while sometimes, but I would argue because they're legitimately doing the work and not cutting corners. All of the staff are courteous and respectful, and have answered all of my questions to the fullest. They're keeping my vehicles in good shape, and I have yet to have a bad experience. I often had my oil changed here and I never had a problem, so when my check engine light came on, I went to them first to get it looked at. With all the repairs needed on the vehicle, it was going to be over $1000. I trusted these people to get the job done and they said that would get the light to go off. After 3 days with no phone call, I called the shop and they said it was already done (thanks for the call). When I went to pick it up, they said it was ready to go and seemed really eager for me to pay. When I drove off, I heard weird noises and something started to smell like it was burning. Once I got to work, I popped the hood and I found two wrenches and other things just sitting there! I was furious! I called them and they apologized (standard "so sorry" stuff). After dropping a grand on them, I was not happy. So I brought my car back and told them to make sure that they finished the job, (they only took a min and looked at it, they just wanted their wrenches back). And they sent me away. 3 days later we had the check engine come back on and my wife brought it back to let them look at it. They treated her like she was completely retarded and tried to say she didn't put the cap on all the way for the gas and that's why the light was back on. While he is saying this, one of his mechanics comes out and tells him that they didnt even finish the job from last time so they had to fix it then. Once my wife got home she called to talk to the owner (couldn't get ahold of him, and he never called back). So you would think it would be done with now, but a week later a check engine light comes back on again! Now they are saying its my O2 sensor and that it's gonna cost more money to fix.(did they leave the wrenches in there to try and sabatoge my vehicle, who knows?) We refuse to go there and I would rather pay more money to get it fixed the first time. It's embarrassing that these people say they are customer/military friendly. Never got a phone call from the owner, and I understand people make mistakes but the owner should of manned up and admitted his workers fault while doing whats necessary to fix the situation. I have reported this shop to the base and a few more reports and they will be banned by all Marines to go there. So unless they call me and fix this situation, I'm gonna advise all Marines and friends to stay away. One star unless they fix this problem. read more
