I always just ask him "what would you do if it was yours?" and so far his guidance has always been spot on. He generally always has a 5-day wait list, totally worth the wait.

I was in Atlantic Beach on vacation and had a rental vehicle. I already had to trade it out once due to a check engine light. Then the tire pressure warning came on with the replacement vehicle. I was away from home - no tire pressure gauge or standard places to get air (isn't that part of the reason you rent a car - for the worry-free aspect??). I couldn't immediately find a gas vendor with air so I took a chance based on the reviews and stopped by City Tire. The reviews are true! The (manager / owner?) reassured me that air is hard to find in the area and it was good I stopped by, especially with a 450 mile drive ahead of me the next day. A young guy IMMEDIATELY offered to check it out. The tire with the low pressure (the vehicle does at least have the technology to pinpoint which tire is the issue!) was off in two minutes. He checked thoroughly for a nail/screw or leak, filled all to correct pressure and I was out of there in 15 mins! On top of that, they weren't going to charge me. The younger guy actually said he didn't do anything! I insisted on giving him some cash at least. Seriously, you never get old school service and integrity like this anywhere anymore. I am grateful to them (and feel terrible I didn't even get their names!). If you have any tire needs and you're anywhere close to Morehead City, go here!!

The next thing I know is with a little over 26,000 miles on my car, they tell me I need four tires. I told him I've never heard of this before because the tires usually last about 45,000 but I did drive a lot back-and-forth from NC to PA due to my mother's health. The man used this little device to show me that the wear was more than it should be, and that I only had a couple more thousand miles left on the tread. $900 and something dollars later, I ended up with new tires. However, I told my sister about it as she lives in Florida and she told her husband who then called me and said that there's "NO WAY IN HELL" that I would've needed new tires with only that many miles, and the device is probably rigged. So I now have this amount on my credit card and am currently paying $100 a month until I can get it paid off & I've been out of work with no pay since April. Therefore, I DO NOT recommend you take your car to Mr. Tire on Arendell Street in Morehead City. I know that as a female many in the car industry try to take advantage of us and that's why I questioned the man when I said that the tires should last to about 45,000 miles. My brother-in-law said from now on to call him before I buy anything else that has to do with the car. I'm very upset by this and I hope this post gets out too many people.
