The entry signage could be a little larger and more conspicuous, but perhaps a bright, flashing neon monolith broadcasting "DUMP HERE" migh be misconstued in all kinds of ways in the Big Easy. After passing up the more reserved and understated entrance, and making the requisite u-turns to make our way back, we found ourselves in a short queue of trucks looking to likewise loosen their loads. The line was short and moved efficiently for something run by the city. We did note that it was "cash only" and that there was prevalent "no smoking" signage, which we found odd due to the fact that a huge nasty landfill seemed like the perfect venue for smokers to puff away without bothering anyone else. The people staffing the truck queue were quite friendly. We only found out that they don't take televisions or mattresses upon inspection of our load, but such impermissible contraband only constituted a small percentage of what we were disposing and we were simply asked not to deposit those items at the site. So it turned out that for a mere $20 per truckload, we were treated to some exemplary seagull and crane watching, a really cool monster equipment show consisting of heavy duty construction vehicles crushing unfathomable quantities of oversized garbage, some spectacular elevated views of the New Orleans Central Business District from a hilltop created from vast quantitites of other people's waste, and a free workout hurling all of the items packed into our truck into a giant pile over the edge of a small hill on a steamy July day in New Orleans. All in all, it was an immensely pleasurable experience and the place didn't smell anywhere near as bad as some of the moldy furniture of which we were disposing. Between us, I'm sure me and my friends burned more than 1,000 calories! If you ever have the opportunity to venture here, I highly recommend it. You just might want to squeeze your trip here in prior to consuming any huge meals.

On the west side of David Drive, between Airline Highway and Metairie Rd, you pull in the entrance, there is a shack just inside the gates, tell the person what you are there for and make your way in. In the middle is a raised platform to be able to drop appliances into the large bins (like dumpsters for construction sites), which makes unloading easy. On the edges are spots for fluids like oil, brake fluid and the like. In a corner is a dumpster for recycling of household goods. There was someone there the day I went to help unload the vehicle, which was good as I just moved and had a lot of packing materials to recycle. It was free to drop off household items, I am not sure if there is a charge for larger items. You then exit on to David drive, so it is a loop that you go through. Mondays are the only days they are closed. I wish I had known about this before now. This is amazing! I am in heaven. Other places are only open one Saturday a month, or on weekdays that are not raining. Insanity. And the place I am currently living (an apartment building) does not offer recycling, so it is nice that I know of more options in the area.

From these super economical finds, I was able to fabricate a garden gate, using the faucet as a creative spin on a traditional doorknob or latch. I love it. Recently, I eye spied, a partially used tub of tile adhesive and several random tiles. They'd be the perfect solution with someone with a tiny bathroom or counter top that needed sprucing up. You can find doors, windows, screen, light fixtures, tiles, wood, paint, and a whole host of parts that you can't pick up at any big box store. Think of the green project like a thrift store for your house or creative endeavor. Be patient and diligent, as it can be hit or miss.

I've been a customer for over 5-years and have made many donations as well as many purchases. I intended to buy a pallet of flooring; I gave my credit card to the cashier to pay for the flooring; I made a hasty decision because I was leaving town in a few days, then I changed my mind. On Sunday, the following day the stored was closed, I made contact with one of the stores workers by the name of Jerome. I told him I decided not to buy the flooring and requested my credit card be credited back to me for the $1980. On Monday I called and asked if I needed to bring my card to the store for the 1980 refund. I spoke to the Manager by the name of Jasmine; she informed me that they don't give refunds. Of course, I thought that was ridicules because I hadn't even removed anything from the store and proceeded to call the credit card company and file a claim for the $1980 to be refunded. Credit One gave me a temporary refund, I left town a few days later, when I returned, I still didn't think there was a problem until May 6, 2026, the day my bank reversed the credit claim, and I owed my creditor $1980. Since then, I've made attempt after another trying to recover those funds and I have not been successful. At this time my credit account is past due, and I refuse to pay for something I did not receive. The Green project sold the flooring to someone else. The manager Jasmine told my creditor that I had picked up the flooring and also told them there was a large, posted sign stating, "no refund policy", but this is not true, there was no sign at all posted. The Green Project knows very well I did not pick up the flooring, and they should've simply refunded my card. Basically, this is theft.

So I decided to find a place to recycle them. I live in a suburb of New Orleans. The city of New Orleans does recycling of electronics, but only to residents of the city. The parish I live in is questionable with recycling, let alone that of electronics. Scrolling thru Google, I saw this place about halfway down, so I emailed them not expecting any response until business hours the next day. Two hours before they were scheduled to open, the owner emailed me. We carried on an email conversation where she confirmed that they can recycle for $5, removal of the hard drive by them would be an additional $5, then $3 for destruction of the hard drive. $30 minimum cost. So the grand total for my two would be $26, but they also offered to take my cheap dollar store calculators for recycling since there was a $30 minimum. I came after I got off work. I was greeted at the door, welcomed in and taken care of quickly. I was in and out in five minutes. Amazing customer service. Woman owned and operated. I can not recommend this high enough. I will be back when I have more electronics to dispose of. There is even a certificate they give you as proof they have destroyed the hard drive. As curious as I am of the process of recycling electronics, that is a question for another day. Maybe I should email them and ask.

I visit this store probably every 90 days and will find that a huge amount of items have been sitting at the same price tag for six months or more. Most of the larger furniture they take in is not in the best shape and priced over $150.00. This includes couches that have been torn up by cats and stained up. Still, I visit waiting for the occasional item that is just mysteriously priced very low. Be aware that they sometimes do have % off specials - but there's only one whiteboard at the front of the store by the cashier that indicates this.
