Marks all over the walls

While this B&B is pretty eclectic with its modern deco, the property really isn't as nice as it looks in the pictures. We paid over $400 a night to stay in the 2 bedroom suite and it absolutely wasn't worth it. To enter the suite you have to walk through one of the bedrooms which is really awkward. Leaving and arriving through one of the bedrooms?? The first we noticed in the bedroom was the carpets were stained and filthy. The ceiling fansand ceiling air vents had dust caked on them, there were holes in the living room walls and almost every wall had marks and dirt on them. The other couple with us found hair in their bathroom shower. And breakfast was average at best. The innkeeper was very nice but maintenance of the property was clearly not a priority. The lights bulbs were out in multiple locations. How hard is it to fix that? And if you are a fan of security, don't expect any when you stay there. They don't lock the front door and there's no way to lock you're room when you leave for the day. Really? In today's crazy world? I'm telling you, don't let the pictures fool you.

How I came uponThe beautiful glass house bed-and-breakfast and winery. Looking for that last minute idea at 11 o'clock at night still scrambling to make it a perfect birthday weekend for my I searched and I searched all night long looking for the right venue looking for the things that make my wife happy which included wine, music, pools ,hot tub and serenity. And wonderful lodging . A Place That feels like home Still going to bed still confused but I stumbled upon the glass house winery and B&B and sent a quick email to my new friend Peggy. Peggy called me with my delight at 9:30 in the morning after being half-asleep and not sure where I was still going I decided this was a match that should work. Arriving at the glass house B&B was unbelievable nestled up on the hill to the right of the winery we saw a beautiful house Peggy greeted us as my son my wife and our service golden retriever Casey joined the fun. The house is beautiful when you walk in it's a tropical setting plants everywhere from the time that we walked in the front door we felt like we were at home. After checking into our gorgeous room the king suite downstairs by the pool . We went directly to the winery do not pass go it was Sunday and they were having live music which was one of the things on our list. The winery was gorgeous when we walked in the big glass room which was tropical beautiful plants and tables it was inside Tropical paradise in the glass area. This iswhere the music Was set up You didn't feel like you're at a winery you felt like you were in Costa Rica. Back to the B&B Peggy made our stay incredibly comfortable with our service dog Casey who is a golden retriever it was like a vacation for her also Just remember this is not the Ritz Carlton but up very unique beautifully bed-and-breakfast absolutely beautiful inside every room has a different character. Peggy herself the Innkeeper Was charming and delightful down to earth and felt like we were true friends at the end of our stay Ron also made us feel very comfortable he started a fire for us for the night and can you imagine sitting outside by your own personal bonfire with your family your golden retriever in the house golden retriever. I felt like I had gone to heaven The pool beautiful absolutely we really wanted to stay another day but we will be back. I would give this place a five star review the inn is incredible. Very close to Charlottesville but also in the world of its own Thank you Glasshouse We will be back In the past four days we have told all of our friends family and I'm sure each and everyone of them will be coming at one time. Glasshouse rocks

A couple girl friends and I decided to go on a little Lady-cation, and chose Glass House B&B for our accommodations. We were throughly impressed. Peggy and Paula are delightful and the house and grounds are stunning. We loved the jungle vibes, animal prints and bold colors, and don't even get my started about the breakfasts. I'm vegan, and wasn't expecting a lot. These ladies went out of their way to make sure I had the same food options every one else did. Homemade and absolutely delicious each morning. They even made snacks for us, like cardamom and cinnamon tossed frozen grapes, which I've been making on my own now. The chocolates were also out of this world, and we loved soaking in the hot tub each night. We stayed in the Suite to the Stars, which was plenty of space for us, and the deck was way bigger than we thought it would be! We cannot recommend this place enough, and can't wait to stay there again!

Even better in person.

Breakfast was amazing The staff was so warm and inviting, and has great recommendations for surrounding wineries/activities. My fiancé booked a night stay and made a reservation for dinner here (must book 1 night stay for Wine Cellar Dinner) and it was worth it. Check-in was breeze with mobile key. Hospitality was just. amazing. We stayed in the Blush room. Chef communication was great and verified via email to accommodate food allergies. Food: every course is paired perfectly with wine. Everything was fresh, farm-to-table, and locally sources.

I also debated not doing a review as I would love to keep this treasure a secret! That's how lovely our experience was. From the ease of check-in to the beautiful room to the exceptional wine. AND without a doubt, the highlight was Stephanie...her kindness and care...her incredible meals. We had one of the best meals we've ever eaten in our Wine Cellar Dinner. Truly a culinary delight. She was creative in both her food preparation and her plating. Flavors were exquisite. A really wonderful experience due to Stephanie's expertise in the kitchen and Courtney's wonderful hospitality. We will definitely go back...so you probably shouldn't try ;)

They also accept pets for a small fee. Just don't leave your pet to bark while your out eating at the amazing restaurants in downtown Crozet. It's a only a few miles away from the Inn, so you won't feel "too far in the woods". We stayed in the farmhouse, but when I get back there again I'd like to stay in the main house (without a dog). The views from the upstairs windows were breathtaking! Looking forward to going back and hiking the trails again. There is a great swimming hole up the road, just ask the innkeepers for directions. This would be an excellent place to hold a family reunion as they have two locations on the same property. The field between the inn and the farmhouse would be great for volleyball/football or any sport really. Looking forward to coming back! The innkeepers are so nice and even gave my dog water while we had breakfast al fresco! We met great people here too! I love the area!

Call when leaving town and you'll return to the inn with the fire started and everything you need if you've brought your own wine or champagne. This is a large inn, but the owners have created such a charming, quaint, country feeling that you enjoy every moment. Encircled by gorgeous scenery and wildlife, we enjoy hiking to the nearby reservoir (about a mile or two one-way). This is the perfect get-away location.

Cave Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast

(Please note the dates on other reviews are over three years old. This reflects the current…read moreexperience.) I wanted to love the Cave Hill Farm B & B. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques! The player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was furnished in antiques. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, nor get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

I got a guided tour of the history and its history, Wow! I stayed in the gold room and I loved it! Big, so comfortable, clean, with original decorations. I felt like in a real living old-time home. As of why it is called the Gold Room - you will see the funny story on that in the room! Breakfast was so good: freshly made and generous, served with a smile. I would gladly come back!

After much consideration I feel compelled to leave an honest review. I feel like we were misled…read morewith false information about this property. Several of the amenities were not available, the property was run down and dirty. After we arrived at the Glade cabin we walked down the property to see what it had to offer. We noticed our cabin did not have a washer and dryer in it as described and didn'tfind the communal area laundry to use. There was no map provided and no signage to guide what areas were private and for public use. We came upon the wood burning sauna and I gasped when i opened the door. It was run down, super rustic and it honestly reminded me of a crematorium. Next to that was the cool dip pool which was not in working order and not listed as that on the rental description. Several reviews seem like the pool hasnt been in use for a few years. We then walked up to the "castle" on a narrow foot bridge and at the top were what seemed to be two drunk men who claimed they lived there. They were blocking the walkway, and to get around them was awkward. They asked us how we found this place and why we were there. Something didn't sit right with that encounter, so we continued walking instead of going inside to see the communal area. We went back to our cabin and never used the rest of the property after that. It did not seem eco friendly either. The property seems to be in a constant state of construction that other things get overlooked and unkempt. The glade cabin was just ok. It was secluded which was a plus. It seemed clean however there was a strong musty smell throughout. No cleaning supplies offered. The cabin had an ant problem inside and a bee problem outside of the entry doors. Both doors were hard to lock from inside. The main door leading to the kitchen had quite a large gap between it and the frame causing an easy way for insects to get in. The keypad was also not working properly and had a constant noise coming from it which was annoying while trying to sleep. The furniture was old and not comfortable. It did have good wifi and was able to stream on the TV. The lightning was very dim inside, and although it had a lot of lights it was still dark. Im not sure how this property keeps getting good reviews, but i did find quite a few similar to mine. On TripAdvisor there is also mention of this being a nudist camp which was not mentioned in any of the rental descriptions. That, and the non working pool and sauna alone would have made me not book in the first place. Again misleading and unsettling. It is close to the national park which is why we originally chose this place. We spent as much time away from it as possible and only returned to sleep. We did not once see any employees or property managers. I would caution anyone to rethink booking here.

There's truly something for everyone, whether you're looking to relax or explore. We loved the dry sauna and the jacuzzi tub in our room, and spent our evenings cooking, sitting by the fire, and playing records. It was the perfect mix of cozy and fun. The property also has a hot tub, a cold plunge, and dry sauna and you can books massages, cooking classes and yoga classes on the property! So many other unique touches throughout -- you can really feel how much thought has gone into creating a serene and welcoming space. You can do as much or as little as you want here, and that flexibility makes it feel like your retreat. Can't recommend it enough. I am already dreaming about our next stay later this year!
