    Wine tasting 4

One word: WOW! My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at Glass House Winery. First of all the glass house is gorgeous. I felt like I was hanging out at Lewis Ginter or a greenhouse. The lush plant life inside is beautiful. Not only is the inside stunning, but the outdoor views of the lake and mountains is an extra bonus. It's just an all around charming place. When we first walked in, we had to go to the front to get service. You order what you want from the bar and take it where you want to sit. Erica was our server. She kindly explained all our wine tasting options, suggesting if we wanted to do the chocolate pairing that we just get the box. We decided to try the four wines tastings each. I got the Petit Manseng, the Viognier, the Brose, and the Tempranillo. The Petit Manseng was my favorite. I adored its acidity. Erica was really helpful. When she asked me what I liked in a wine she was able to guide me to the best picks for me and I really enjoyed my wines. My boyfriend and I had our wine in the glass house and played a few card games we brought with us. The views from the winery were stunning. There was also outdoor seating available. We had a really fun time here. I'd highly recommend visiting.

A Hidden Gem in Virginia Wine Country! Glass House Winery is one of my favorite local getaways -- a perfect mix of great wine, relaxing vibes, and thoughtful touches that keep you coming back. They make their own wine and handcrafted chocolates, which you can pair for a unique tasting experience that's both indulgent and fun. The wines are delicious across the board, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they also offer three fantastic beers -- a nice option if you're with someone who prefers hops over grapes. It's a super dog-friendly spot (huge plus!) with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy, and you're welcome to bring your own picnic, which makes it feel even more laid-back and welcoming. On weekends, there's often live music, adding a great soundtrack to your afternoon. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable -- you can tell they love what they do and are happy to share it with visitors. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Glass House Winery is well worth the stop!

I came here with my best friend because I had seen some beautiful pictures on Instagram and needed to see it myself! Not only was it beautiful inside the greenhouse but the wines were also yummy. Like most wineries now you can do a flight of any 4 wines from the list or a tasting, either white or red. I ended up having two flights and was able to taste most of the reds and some whites + the brose. While we didn't taste any of the chocolates (they also have a chocolate wine pairing tasting) they looked so yummy and heard from many others there that they were delicious and well worth the price. If it's a beautiful day, you can also overlook the lake they have on property either on the deck or closer to the water. While they don't have a bunch of food options - they have a full fridge of a multitude of charcuterie options -- cheese & meats.

It's so beautiful here! The inside location is like being in a greenhouse! It's so fabulous! The staff are friendly and welcoming! We were here -and there was a band which made it extra-festive!!

Loved this winery! No solid food options but the cheese and cracker options are sufficient. Good variety of wine to try and you can't beat the greenhouse theme!

I absolutely love this place! As an avid plant mom, I love the greenhouse style of the main atrium dining area. There are several wines that I truly enjoy here, but I honestly come for the ambiance and the scenery. The last time I went, my boyfriend and I brought all of the fixings for our charcuterie and sat out by the water. It was so beautiful out there and relaxing. I can't wait until the weather warms up again so I can go again. I recommend bringing your favorite wine pairings with you if you go, just to make the experience even better. They have plenty of seating options available; picnic tables and small 2-tops right near the water, tables in the greenhouse near the stage, and even elevated outdoor patio seating with heaters. It's right outside of Charlottesville, so not far from Richmond and other wineries.

The wines are good but I love the tropical in-house environment. Definitely a different from most Northern Virginia wineries.

This is such a cute winery, perfect for both a chilly autumn evening or a hot summer day. The views are stunning and the wine is good too. I highly recommend the pina colada slushie, it was life changing for me. Their white wines were good too. The wine flight is good for if it's your first time there. There's an actual glass house with seating with plants inside, giving it a greenhouse feel with fresh air. 10/10 would definitely come again if I had the chance!

This is a cute and (quaint?) place out in the countryside. We enjoyed the picturesque view from the deck and only walked through the greenhouse seating area. The wine was good. We brought our own food along with us so did not have the chance to try any food here. The terrain is steep so use caution with strollers and wheelchairs. Overall a nice experience and would stop by again if we were in the area.

I'm gonna jump right into this one. Annually my family and I vacation in Massanutten with friends and hubby and I always pick a different winery to visit. There were probably 7 wineries if not more closer to the resort we were staying, but I found this winery from Yelp and saw the great reviews as well as called in advance to ask questions and I was sold. The reviews here on Yelp are top notch and the gentleman that answered was informative and kind. I couldn't wait to get there. The entire experience was fantastic. Once we pulled up, parking was easily defined. We parked, walked in and was immediately impressed by 1st sight. A nice mature lady was seated directly in front w wine flight options as well as charcuterie and chocolate options for purchase. There was the cutest and sweetest little pup laying on the floor next to her keeping her company. My husband and I purchased a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers. There were also novelty items for sale, to the right is the conservatory which is open for people to sit and enjoy their purchases and to the left is the tasting room as well as the door to the furnished wraparound patio. There was a band playing while we were there. Everything was absolutely perfect for a Sunday afternoon of relaxation! This was a great day, fantastic views and adequate seating. After staying for a few hours we decided to walk out closer to the vineyard. Beautiful! Made for great pictures! I also enjoyed the use of the mountain backdrops and they have an onsite pond. This place is perfectly located on a large area of land and although was 45 minutes from where we were staying, I don't regret a thing. Fantastic use of space and great customer service! That's all I need !!

(Please note the dates on other reviews are over three years old. This reflects the current…read moreexperience.) I wanted to love the Cave Hill Farm B & B. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques! The player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was furnished in antiques. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, nor get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

Several of the amenities were not available, the property was run down and dirty. After we arrived at the Glade cabin we walked down the property to see what it had to offer. We noticed our cabin did not have a washer and dryer in it as described and didn'tfind the communal area laundry to use. There was no map provided and no signage to guide what areas were private and for public use. We came upon the wood burning sauna and I gasped when i opened the door. It was run down, super rustic and it honestly reminded me of a crematorium. Next to that was the cool dip pool which was not in working order and not listed as that on the rental description. Several reviews seem like the pool hasnt been in use for a few years. We then walked up to the "castle" on a narrow foot bridge and at the top were what seemed to be two drunk men who claimed they lived there. They were blocking the walkway, and to get around them was awkward. They asked us how we found this place and why we were there. Something didn't sit right with that encounter, so we continued walking instead of going inside to see the communal area. We went back to our cabin and never used the rest of the property after that. It did not seem eco friendly either. The property seems to be in a constant state of construction that other things get overlooked and unkempt. The glade cabin was just ok. It was secluded which was a plus. It seemed clean however there was a strong musty smell throughout. No cleaning supplies offered. The cabin had an ant problem inside and a bee problem outside of the entry doors. Both doors were hard to lock from inside. The main door leading to the kitchen had quite a large gap between it and the frame causing an easy way for insects to get in. The keypad was also not working properly and had a constant noise coming from it which was annoying while trying to sleep. The furniture was old and not comfortable. It did have good wifi and was able to stream on the TV. The lightning was very dim inside, and although it had a lot of lights it was still dark. Im not sure how this property keeps getting good reviews, but i did find quite a few similar to mine. On TripAdvisor there is also mention of this being a nudist camp which was not mentioned in any of the rental descriptions. That, and the non working pool and sauna alone would have made me not book in the first place. Again misleading and unsettling. It is close to the national park which is why we originally chose this place. We spent as much time away from it as possible and only returned to sleep. We did not once see any employees or property managers. I would caution anyone to rethink booking here.
