Why 5 stars? Because Kevin was great and I will definitely call him again…read more --- --- --- I recently moved to Woodforest and was very much in search of a new handyman. When I lived in Tampa, I had a guy I would call for virtually every single thing that ever broke or needed updating in my house. It's hard to find a person that does good work, is reliable and had fair prices. In all honesty, I used my Tampa handyman so much that it was one of the things about living in Florida that I felt like I would miss the most. So when I got settled in, I took to the Woodforest Facebook page to see who other people recommended. Fellow resident, Kevin was mentioned by multiple people, so I figured I would give him a call. He came over the next day and was ready to hang our new light and ceiling fan a couple of days after that. He did great work for a great price and actually showed up when he said he would (sadly, a rarity in this industry). For both the light and the fan, there were a couple of unforeseen problems that made them both take much longer than originally anticipated. But Kevin charges by the job, not by the hour, so my price did not increase. I will definitely call Kevin again next time something pops up!

I used them twice for different houses, so that alone is a testament of my good experience with this company. On my latest install, they were professional from start to finish, although not perfect in some areas (more on that later). I'll start with the issues, and then close with the positives. On our first house, I encountered some disappointing challenges during the execution/installation phase. Our garden was trampled on, one of the windows were installed on the wrong spot, and a light fixture was damaged and the crew tried (poorly) fixing it without notifying me (all caught on CCTV). With all that said though, the company stands by doing the right thing and resolved everything on a timely manner. How it was handled was much appreciated and influenced me to use them again and refer others. On our second house, almost everything went smoothly. All windows were replaced in just two days! Just encountered a minor hiccup when a wall was damaged and a worker claimed it was pre-existing. Luckily, I purposely took before-photos and was able to provide evidence that it was not pre-existing. In the end, it was fixed within satisfaction. As for the positives, I really have to give credit to Milton, the supervisor on the second house. He was very professional and accommodating. On one of the windows, he found water damage and pointed it out to me instead of trying to cover it up. The damage and source were all fixed. Seriously, he could have moved on and I would have never known! All the windows were installed to my satisfaction. Few minor quirks remained, but possibly due to the window manufacture (or so I was explained). Also appreciate how floors snd countertops are covered to prevent/reduce damage and dust. I recommend this company. Here are some tips before using them (or any other window company): - Take lots of photos of each window before the work starts. Ensure to get several close ups and different angles of the trim and corners, both inside and out. Ensure good lighting for a useful photo. - Check with your HOA to see if it's the window replacements are allowed. Some care about colors of trim and grid vs non-grid. - Expect the order to take several months to come in. Get your quote early if it's a house you plan on moving in.

Randy, the owner of Ultra Windows is revered in the windows contracting world as a god-like figure…read moreby top experts (window business owners) on the largest US online forum for replacement windows. He has contributed to some of the most insightful and eye opening articles that expose the dirty truths about the windows industry. An example of this is the dirty secret behind vinyl windows and the "compliant standards" (E.g., even if your initial standards such as the U factor meet code, the windows are not the same because crappy vinyl windows will break down in blazing heat and those specs won't hold up in the future). Some of you may say that's general industry knowledge that everyone should know (ok....), but there are many other examples. For example, he exposed the flaw in the energy efficiency government guidelines. Let me explain this. To measure true energy efficiency, you must take into account the heat loss from the window AND heat transferred through sunlight into the house. Long story short, he made the correct argument that a window with a higher u-factor (more heat loss) and lower radiation transfer into the house (solar heat gain coefficient SGHC) that is not energy star compliant can actually be MORE energy efficient than an energy star compliant window. To summarize in common English, he challenged and disproved a common industry belief. It was totally mindblowing when I did the math. He was right. He also made the case for aluminum windows over vinyl in the South. Again, totally right and mindblowing because everyone trashes alum windows, but the particular brand he recommends absolutely creams any vinyl out there in look and specs. His website has fantastic knowledge articles which I suggest anyone read and most importantly, he has a LIFETIME INSTALLATION warranty. Now that may not sound like much because every business has a "warranty" but not all warranties are created equal and have almost certainly have a million exclusion clauses. Not so for Randy. Finding a warranty that is this comprehensive is like finding a unicorn. No "if and or but" when it comes to install related issues. He will take care of them. Randy is an incredible and friendly guy and I would go so far out and say that the 1 negative reviewer on yelp probably misinterpretted Randy. I got on a phone call when he knew he couldn't get business from me because I'm so far away and he's been guiding me through the past year on my problems. If and once I expand my business to Houston, there is no doubt in my mind that Randy will get all of my window business. Rest assured you are getting the very best and if you have any doubts go to "replacement window" forum (search on google) and see the comments and praise he has gotten over the past decade. It's so surprising and unfortunate that he has so few reviews on yelp but don't let that mislead you. Quality over quantity. You are getting the Michael Jordan of windows with Randy.
