My last cut / color, done this week, I wanted to add color back into my grey hair. I'm a brunette and was feeling very old-looking ... I researched on line different color options and decided for the most natural look, I wanted dark low lights blended in my grey. She always gives me a great cut (& is super reasonably-priced), but this time I was BLOWN AWAY by her decision on color technique. She did VERTICAL foil low lights and used a "peek a boo" method, so the outgrowth will look natural. She knows me well ... my hair growth has slowed down significantly the last year and I rarely need hair cuts. I was a very, very last minute walk-in for a cut and color (which I completely understand is not a walk-in type of service) the Wednesday before Christmas, and Michelle Renee was able to get me in that afternoon (on her day off, to boot!). Absolutely loved my experience at Glassbox! Kirsten took the extra effort to squeeze me in and I'm so glad she did. She gave me a stunning colour treatment that was exactly what I was looking for and perfect for winter! But honestly, the best part was that she was fun to talk to and was just as excited about the colour as I was. There's nothing better than a stylist who loves her job! After, she helped me pick out a Bare Minerals foundation to match my skin. I also had a great eyebrow/lip wax from their waxing gal. She really took the time to make it look even and I was very happy with the results. The atmosphere is great, the location is perfect (a few doors down from Starbucks!), and the prices were completely fair. Overall, it made for a wonderful Friday afternoon pampering. EDIT: Love Kirsten, but when she wasn't available and I had an event coming up, I got another lady (who's name, sadly, escapes me). Her effort to match my current color failed miserably, and it came out WAY to violet. I felt very pressured to choose that color, and when I suggested just waiting for Kirsten, she convinced me it'd look great on and it'd be just what I wanted. Alas, it was far from it. And in the end, she says "this is what I do for Christmas for everyone! Very holiday!". That's great...if it weren't MAY. I wish she'd told me that and been more willing to let me back out. I was desperate! After relocating to the Central Coast, I struggled to find a great hair stylist. I had my hair fried by one, chopped by another, and was even ghosted by one stylist. I had given up, went to WalMart and bought boxed dye, and was about to do the terrible thing to my hair, when I called Glassbox and left a rather desperate message. I went here for the very first time last week, I wanted a dramatic change. It took me one month to just choose a place to get my hair cut and dyed! I've gone to many different salons, but I just couldn't really find the "one" I wanted to make my main salon where I felt the quality really satisfied me, there was always some kind of negative. After stalking The Glassbox salon on facebook and yelp, I finally decided to try it out! Initially I called to schedule with Beth, but she was not available so I made an appointment with Dawn. (I didn't really have a preference because I didn't know either of them, I just saw their names on FB). I was not disappointed. Dawn was very nice and welcoming. I went in with very long dark hair. My natural hair color looks black, even though it's just a very dark brown. It also grows quite rapidly, so even though I had it trimmed last year, It was already down to my waist. Once every few years I like to make a "bold" change, just something different than what I'm used to because it gets tiring to be in the same routine in life: work, school, work, school. And getting this "new" change just feels refreshing and although it doesn't change my actual every-day routine, it does give me something new to look at in the mirror! I wanted my hair dyed red, but I wasn't sure exactly what tone/shade, so I showed her some examples and said I just wanted a shade that would go with my skin tone but still being a vibrant red shade. She picked out a great tone, and she paid a lot of attention to detail with my haircut. I didn't feel like she was rushing through the process at all (a feeling sometimes other salons evoke, and I understand, but it can also make for a wider margin of error and have the client feel uncomfortable), but she wasn't too slow either where I felt time was being wasted. Even after she was done cutting my hair, dying it, washing and blow drying, at the end she still went back to make sure the cut was perfect and even. A wonderful job on the cut also; it's to my shoulders and in layers, with side swept bangs. I've received several compliments about how my new hair color really brightens up my face, and the haircut also suits my oval-ish face shape. I recommended her to my sister and mother, and I will recommend her to anyone that asks about my hair too! I'm also sure the other women working there are great too. During the time I was there a lot of "regular" customers showed up. Just a great environment overall. I just wonder why this salon is not very involved in the FB "world" like some others, I think it makes it easier for customers to know about a salon and staff, and find it more appealing :). Well at least if they're like me that like doing research and really know more about a place before going :). But bottom line, this seems like a great salon to me so far, and I'm glad I took a chance and decided to try it out! read more

I highly recommend Cindy T. for cuts and color. I first went to Cindy abut 2 year ago when I had a terrible haircut that needed fixing really bad. I went in about 2 months ago but im still bothered by my experience so decided to put my review from fb to here. Got my hair from blonde to a reddish/brown auburn color which I knew would be expensive, my total was $145. 100 for color and 45 for cut, which I was disappointed about. Any other time i go to the salon and pay for a color the hair stylist gives me a trim for free. I literally got about a inch cut off, straight across no layers... took sylist 5 minutes to do. I even had a spot that needed to be re colored that was missed and i was supposed to go back but i was so upset about the charge for the hair cut i decided to blow off my appt to get my color fixed... read more

This salon is small but cute, I was a walk in for just a wash and blow out. I was taken in fairly quickly which I was pleased about. The receptionist was very cute and nice, she promptly offered me beverage before I sat down.....the stylist quickly washed my hair and was very talkative during the wash and Blowdry which was cool, but I couldn't really hear her when she had the dryer on. My hair is naturally straight so She quickly dried my hair, but my blowout lacked volume and was still slightly damp when she was finished, that is the reason for the 2stars...I would consider coming here again and trying a new stylist next time. read more

Her organic colors are fabulous, and unlike some stylists, she makes cutting curly hair look like child's play.
