This is a lone oasis along Route 30. Sometimes it is a welcomed sight for people travelling in this area. This section of Route 30 in particular is a two lane stretch and can feel monotonous to drive. To note, even though this is labelled as Glassmere Fuel Service, they offer Gulf fuel. That seems to be what is happening to all Glassmere stations. If you go to look for this under Gulf, or their website, it will still pop up as Glassmere Fuel Service. Seeing how there is no competition anywhere nearby, the price of gas is basically what you are stuck with. Four total pumps, not much else going on with the outside. I know a lot of people are raving about the diner portion of this business, but I was not able to partake in that. When I was here the diner was closed. I am assuming just for the time being, but I am not sure. I hope it is not because I would sure love to try the food. read more

This review is for the café inside the gas station. It's ok; the food was cheap, the restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, but slow. Hash browns, and home fries weren't from fresh spuds, and you could taste it. They were out of corned beef hash, but I'm sure it would have been canned (not that it would've stopped me from eating it). Bacon and eggs were ok. My wife liked her breakfast sandwich. We stopped here on a Saturday morning after staying the night at our house on the lake. We walked in shortly after two other tables had been seated and the waitress quickly informed us that it'd be a descent wait for food as she was it that day - server, cook, etc. We weren't in a rush and decided to wait. It did take about an hour for us to get our food and the diners at other tables were visibly impatient. Once it did arrive, the food was great and reasonably priced. The pancakes are huge so it's easy to over order. We will likely return on our next trip to the lake but hope to not encounter a similarity understaffed weekend shift. Also, kudos to the server who kicked ass cooking the food, serving it, and then busing her own tables. I hope that's not how a normal Saturday morning looks at this place! read more

I was driving across Pennsylvania for work, from one end to the other, before flying back to California out of my home state of Connecticut. After driving forever looking for a place to get something to eat, I came across the Flight 93 Memorial, which unfortunately was closed at the time. Several minutes after continuing east on the 30 (Lincoln Highway) I stopped at this gas station to grab a soda and whatever they had to go, but on entering the store I saw a good sized hometown restaurant with plenty of tables at the back of the store, and diner-style seating if you just want to pull up a stool for yourself. Sitting at the stools, I could see the kitchen was immaculately clean. I looked over the menu which was surprisingly comprehensive, with many items to choose from including burgers, tacos, pizza, sandwiches and a lot more, and even creative and harder to find, but great tasting food, like the cuban sandwich, which is what I ordered. It was just a few minutes past closing time, which I didn't know at the time, but was surprised to hear they were happy to make my sandwich for me. In a land of chain restaurants, where being closed means being closed, I really appreciated that personal effort on their part. The sandwich was excellent! It was so good I had to thank the chef personnally. I've had cubans before, and this was a great one. When I was done eating, I would have ordered another one for the road had it not been so late. The team here was great, friendly and fast. The prices are more than reasonable. Jeff the owner was great to talk to. He's a real friendly guy with some great success stories. In chatting with him I learned the restaurant had just been added only several months ago and was doing very well. I can see why. Based on the owner, the team he's brought together and the quality of the food and service, I would definitely recommend this location for any hungry travelers, family or solo. Next time I'm on this stretch of the 30, I'm definitely stopping here again. Notes: There is a large red digital sign that is part of the gas station sign advertising the restaurant. There is a picnic table outside. You can buy gas and all of the conveniences of a gas station you would expect. There is an ATM inside. They also have a walk-up window for ice cream. Plenty of parking all around the parking lot for the gas station. This location is directly on the 30 (Lincoln Highway) only minutes from the Flight 93 Memorial. read more

We've eaten here many, many times. We could always count on a great meal. Since it's under new ownership (for about the past year), every visit has gotten worse. We will not be back. On a previous visit, the food wasn't bad, but the service was a very bizarre experience with a combination of insults and complaining from the server. On our most recent visit, the food took a very long time, our drinks were not refilled, the meals all arrived at different times, and my food was cold. The icing on the cake was the last "meal" to arrive. My nephew ordered the kids' meal of macaroni and cheese. It was served as one scoop in a tiny plastic bowl like the ones we were served stewed tomatoes in at the elementary school cafeteria. It was $4 for that tiny side-dish portion! Also, our salads came out along with the meals. We ended up taking the salad home. The server was friendly enough, but he did not seem to have experience working in a restaurant, or eating at a restaurant for that matter. Finally, the food is not as good as it's always been. My sandwich had little squares of meat that I was unsure about. My advice... keep driving about a mile in either direction to find something better! read more

I frequent Coalfields several times a month for dinner, lunch, and breakfast, and it NEVER disappoints. I was there last night and had their stuffed pork chops. I am a huge eater, and I honestly couldn't finish the whole meal. It was delicious! What I like most about this place are the portion sizes. Whether it be a salad, burger, or daily special, I always leave with a full stomach and a satisfied pallet! The restaurant is always clean and a pleasant place to dine. Cathy, my favorite waitress, is always warm and willing to offer suggestions and never lets you leave without feeling happy and valued. Jeff, the owner is often found circulating amongst each table asking how everything was. It's just a great place to eat! For a diner, this place was awesome! The outside is a gas station and looks like a dive, you can basically park anywhere. It's only a 3 or so miles from the Flight 93 Memorial Plaza. Kids meals were large and inexpensive while the burgers were outstanding. I've eaten at many "famous" burger joints and for $9.99 I got that same experience here with homemade sides! The beans and the mac&cheese were amazing. They served breakfast all day but we stuck to the burgers. Awesome place, takes cash or card. Plus the convenience store sells homemade gob cake (whoopie pie for those not from the area) and pepperoni rolls. If you don't know what that is you should just buy it and find out! My husband and I, along with our two daughters went here for dinner tonight and we were pleasantly surprised! The menu selection was plentiful, with daily specials. Our waitress was very pleasant and offered recommendations. The kids enjoyed their meals, Mac and cheese and pizza and my hubby got the open faced prime rib sandwich with fries and it was huge and delicious. I had the chicken Parmesan dinner with spaghetti and garlic bread and a side salad. It was so huge that I had to take half of it home. Everything was good and came quickly to the table. My husband and I visited the 93 Memorial yesterday (a beautiful solemn site). We drove on by this diner on the way to (we judged {Misjudged} the outside) but stopped on the way home out of desperation, just to grab a soda and chips maybe. We saw customers in the diner in back and looked at the menu. Well, we sat down and will now rave about this place, food and service, to anyone who will listen. Homemade cole slaw, mac 'n cheese, chicken salad, and even a deep fried fish sandwich that was delicious. The waitress (unfortunately didn't get her name but she worked Friday lunch) was so friendly and pleasant. Wow, did I learn the old lesson of "you can't judge a book by it's cover!" This place is one of the best kept secrets in the area. I'm betting it's the place that all of the locals go and those are ALWAYS the best places! We read the previous review because we were looking for a place to stop and grab a bite on our way home from our 25th Anniversary getaway! The review sounded too good not to try. And boy are we glad we did. The food was FANTASTIC and the prices were very reasonable! We also tried the Cuban and we decided to take the reviewer's advice and get one "to go" since it was technically my husband's sandwich but I ended up eating 1/2 of it (for the record, I shared my Salisbury Steak, too). Oh, BTW, the mashed potatoes were to die for. I didn't willingly share them but I was getting deliciousness in exchange so it was a fair trade! The place is very clean, every single person who worked there was friendly and accommodating and we also got to meet the owner, Jeff. Heck, he even took our order! We had to let him know about the review that convinced us to stop. And by this review, I hope you realize that we'll definitely be back.
