A couple weeks ago my family took a trip to Deep Creek to hang out with some friends and the Arrowhead Market was a staple for us! We came here a couple times through the trip and they had almost everything we needed to get through our trip comfortably - alcohol included! When you walk in there is a ton of beer and a little assortment of liquor to choose from, which was nice because typically in PA booze and groceries are two stops. What I was really impressed by here was the selection of grocery items and the fresh prepared foods! I got plenty of supplies including fresh fruits and veggies for our weekend which was impressive for a little market on the side of the road. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There were pies I saw during my first stop at Arrowhead Market that looked amazing. Finally we decided to try a caramel apple one for dessert one night and it was delicious! I was also impressed by the cinnamon buns with tons of icing. I would drive all the way back to Maryland just to get those again. Overall it's definitely worth stopping here if you're in the Deep Creek area for some hot fresh foods or something to go for later, but if you're in need of anything during your trip Arrowhead should have you covered! read more

When you come to deep creek I highly recommend coming here. They have a small market which has a great selection of items you may need. They also have a place inside that makes sandwiches, pastas, etc. The staff is very friendly and orders are filled quickly. read more

One feels like lingering, even. They got freshly roasted chickens, a butchery, and even a seafood department. Some fresh produce (small selection but well stocked). They got just about everything; it's a bit larger than your typical gas station store, and it's well managed. Maybe this is because McHenry by Deep Creek Lake, MD, is a more touristy destination (Wisp ski resort right here; lake activities in summer). read more

Grab and go sandwiches are skimpy and overpriced. I got a ciabatta ready-made ham sandwich with a puny slice of boring American cheese, a barely-there tomato slice and pinch of shredded iceberg lettuce, and it cost me a whopping $11. As you can see in the attached pics, the sandwich was all bread and almost no filling. What a rip-off! Maybe tourists from the metro area don't mind paying that much for nothing, but locals don't have that kind of money to waste. read more

Arrowhead is a place where you pay for convenience! It is not cheap but they are on the lake and they have food and liquor! As an example the Walmart can't sell beer, wine especially liquor but Arrowhead can... why I don't know?!? They have a fresh daily breakfast, lunch, dinner specials as well as fresh meat, veggies, canned goods, bakery etc. They also have boat docking so you can run up and get whatever. This place has everything you will need but at prices you will hate. The deli is very good albeit expensive. A good beer, wine and liquor selection also at prices you will hate. If you are provisioning for a stay at Deep Creek, do yourself a favor and stock up elsewhere. If you are just passing through and need snacks, this is a good place to get something higher quality than you would at the average gas station. I will caution you to avoid the restrooms if at all possible. It was hard to remember a restroom more disgusting. That is always troubling to me at an establishment that serves food. Needed butter and left with that plus sandwiches, cinnamon rolls and pepperoni rolls thanks to reviews here! I concur that the steak melt is amazing!! We also got the steak and cheese panini but honestly it couldn't even compare to the melt. The met is where it's at! The cinnamon rolls are drenched in icing just how I like them. Microwaved for 10 seconds for perfection. The pepperoni rolls were just okay...not much pep in most of them. Everyone was friendly (no grinches like mentioned in previous reviews), covid safe and has all the essentials plus beer, wine and liquor. I will absolutely return. read more

I second to name this place the "Grumpy Mart". Everything was very overpriced, but I guess that is what happens in this lake town. It is a little bit run down, but the alcohol selection was extensive. We go to the checkout and the man says very grumpily, "go to the front cash register." This is COVID times, so we were like ummmm... where? This is because the was a couple still checking out there and we wanted to ensure we were still 6 feet apart. The man says "It's right THERE.". Anyways we go up and have a couple heavy items at check out (6pack of water, big thing of juice, and two glass bottles of Perrier). The woman bags everything that wasn't drinks into one bag.....it was almost overflowing. Then, she bags the two glass bottles together, okay fine. After that, she puts the big bottle of juice AND the six pack of water into the same bag as the glass bottles. My boyfriend goes oh I'm going to double bag this so it doesn't break. She goes, "NO, don't waste my bags!". As we walk two seconds through the door it breaks and everything falls out. A worker at the front door was our only save and grace and she handed us a handful of bags (more than the one bag we would have "wasted"). Not to mention, a couple items were either not priced or priced wrong. The other people checking out next to us had the same problem. read more

A DCL trip staple! Super convenient to where we usually stay. Has everything you would need for a weekend - including household items, firewood, grocery food, deli/meats, adult drinks, fresh produce, and made-to-order sandwiches. Oh, and it's a gas station! The only downside is you pay a slight premium for the convenience. The alternative is driving across the lake to the large super market. read more

It is your typical resort like mini-market. They have everything you may need, there may not be a choice on that item, but they will have it. And you can expect to pay more than the average grocery store, but it is convenient for the central and southern part of DCL. The staff was super nice, so that is always a plus. read more

Whatever it is that you might need while staying at the Lake, this is one of the places that you can get it. They have everything in here! It's a deli, so they carry a good deal of food and alcohol. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT shop here. Not only is it a ripoff!! I have been there twice this week and shame on me as everything was DISGUSTING!! I started off last week purchasing a cinnamon roll that had a "use by" for four days after the purchase date. This was consumed the next morning and it was so STALE. We go back again yesterday and purchased pepperoni rolls, broccoli salad and sourdough bread. ALL which could not be eaten. I've decided to nick-name this place, "The Grumpy Market." The majority of the employees have expressions on their faces like they'd rather be doing anything but working there. I've even experimented over the years with trying to smile at them and engage them in small talk. No luck. I found this baffling. What kind of small business owner wants a bunch of grumpy, unfriendly, sour people working for them? I guess the owner either doesn't notice or doesn't care. The cashiers are the worst. I was so baffled by this after about 10 shopping trips to this place that I asked the woman at the place I was staying if she, as a local, experienced the same unfriendliness. Her face lit up and she laughed. "Oh my gosh! I thought it was just me. You're so right! I hate going in there. Please don't let those people ruin your stay. We are very friendly people here at Deep Creek. We definitely want those of you that come here to relax to have a nice time so you'll come back." I told her not to worry and that we love it here and almost always have great interactions with the locals. We both had a good laugh and I promised her I would write a review of Arrowhead Market. They have a nice hot food section with daily specials (when I went it was a hot turkey sandwich or chicken fingers w/ two sides), a cold prepared foods section (sandwiches, salads, lunchmeats, cheeses), a small bakery (w/ loaves of bread & rolls & the like, about 10 aisles of food, drinks, toiletries, and other crap-I-forgot-to-bring items. I got a bag of the pepperoni rolls which were delicious. I also got a small container of the rotini pasta salad and it was also yummy. Certainly the most over-priced mini-market in the tri-state area. Arrowhead owners have a gold mine here and they know it. Nonetheless, it's popular and always busy. If you're on the lake, boat over and tie up at the dock. It can be crowded, but maybe less chaotic than the small parking/gas pump area. We've been boating over to get breakfast sandwiches and coffee for as long as I can remember. They're pricey, but the perfect greasy morning treat. Try the Bomber. We've had some shady experiences with weighed foods. A breakfast order of three creamed chip beef (Stouffers brand - I watched them heat it) over toast (priced by weight) were wildly different in portion size, but the employee weighed the biggest one and printed out three identical price tickets. My FIL called him out on it, and he looked like that cat who ate the canary. If you need something fast and don't mind paying double the cost, this is the place for you. read more

This is a pleasant place to stop to get food whilst traveling. If you have a dog, this is not a great place to stop because you will be forced to walk the perimeter of the parking lot and see voluminous amounts of trash that patrons have dropped and no one has picked up.
