I contacted this frim back in March of this year 2026 and spoke with Mateo. I explain my situation to him and informed him that I had previous representation from three different other firms. Mateo's reply was that since I had previous representation they would not be making much money out of my claims and briefly explained what I needed to do in my situation. I was referred by a neighbor to this firm she told me that both of her uncles had been represented by this firm and were satisfied with the results, but I was actually disappointed with the service I got overall I tried contacting the firm a second time and spoke to Mateo again he said he would call me back and he never did. I contact the firm a third time and let the receptionist know that I had been waiting for a call back and never did receive one she transferred me to Mateo again. When I spoke to Mateo I reminded him of my situation and told him that I had spoken to him before I asked him if he could speak to the attorney to see if they would take my claims he said he would email the attorney and let me know I never ever heard from him again. I find it very unprofessional to tell someone that you will return the call when you don't I also found it very disappointing to see how money is very important more than the client . I didn't speak to an attorney for a consultation but at this point I have no interest in giving this firm my business . When you first call and hear the recording that they have about how the firm feels in regards to workers comp and representing their clients you feel at ease thinking that you finally found a firm that's going to look out for your rights. My case has been ongoing for over two years, delayed due to errors filing the case from the beginning. It's been passed around by at least 3 to 5 different attorneys that I can recall I lost count, and finally recently (9 weeks ago!) I signed settlement for an ok amount but haven't received anything. I realized that complaining via email works better than through the phone and cc as many people as you can, the more important the better that's how you'll get somebody's attention in that firm. My name is Brian Braun on 12 9 2017 I was working as a Sr funeral escort motor officer conducting a funeral when I got struck by a car , the driver made an illegal turn causing my accident and broke my leg in three places tibia / fibula and knee also road rash and a broken finger. I would have been better off if I just represented myself! I was given a brand new lawyer the month of my hearing after conversing with one for about a year and a half (she left the firm and didn't even tell me), I wasn't warned ahead of time I'd be speaking on the stand and my new Lawyer, I just met the day of the hearing, left out paperwork as evidence that was totally embarrassing. He made me look really bad right at the beginning of the hearing. This firm is misleading and being that I genuinely got sick on the job and they couldn't defend me is sad. I lost my job and all of my retirement in the end. I wasn't advised well, I was very misled , lied to, my time wasted, and I had gone through a very first deposition where a lawyer wasn't even present. They sent me with a new lawyer the second time (I met that very day!) where the other side wanted to settle, and it's been nothing but a mess. How when I have all these new symptoms from work that they couldn't prove even 1% ? I was also advised not to appeal. When I decided I actually wanted to it was too late because 20 days passed and I wasn't aware of the time frame. How do I go from LAUSD wanting to settle "off the record" because they know they're at fault to ...loosing my career and retirement all together!? Unbelievable. This whole thing just hurts my heart. Honest, Straightforward, Patient and Very Clear in his explanations of how many different scenarios could play out in my particular situation. this is my 2nd review. my contact there was Diana and she got assigned to a different attorney over a month ago. Diana was awesome with her response time to my unending questions. (i have huge anxiety issues). the person that replaced her, Teresa seems to not like to respond (or return phone calls) and that is disappointing. My new attorney (because Diego left) Christina, responds even less and seems to defer everything to her assistant. While Christina seems to have a great reputation, the lack of information that is provided regarding my case and specifics makes me wonder. i am hopeful though. this will not be my last review as my case is still pending (though no medical care has been provided by workers comp for a year now). so i will defer my final review until it is completed. maybe there are things being done (i would like to think this is the case) on my behalf that i am not aware of yet as i await a response to my questions from yesterday (some of which are from the week before thanksgiving). This firm has had my case for several years and over the course of that time has continued to lack return communication. There have been multiple occasions where personnel turnover was the reason given, but yet this continues to occur. In the past I have called and received no call back. I even complained in person to an employee and before long this same issue arose. Here I am emailing and still dealing with this same issue. It has been consistently how they operate. I cannot make a sweeping statement about this firm, I can only tell you my experience and that is -- this is a firm to avoid. After years of frustration, I am leaving this review in the hope that others can avoid the frustration and lack of consideration and professionalism. It also bears mentioning that when I went into the office regarding settlement I expressed that I was surprised at the settlement amount and that it was surprising low. The attorney told me how the amount was determined AND THEN proceeded to tell me, to my face, that, well -- the firm wasn't getting very much either for their effort(s) (paraphrasing). What a total lack of awareness, consideration and sound reasoning. As of today, 2/8/18, I am still awaiting some kind of information/reply for an email originally sent on 11/15/17. Next week will be 3 months since that email was sent. On 1/25/18 I emailed requesting status and was simply informed, yet again (like in the past), that the person I emailed was no longer with the firm with no information regarding my case. Same excuse as I have received on several occasions over the life of this case. Its possible that this is true, but then it begs the questions -- why was I not informed sooner? Why did it require me to follow-up to find out? Why did the reply not tell me when I could expect a status? AND, if this is true then -- why is the employee turnover so frequent? One last thing... If you look at the reviews here for GB, most of them are very polarizing. Often either 5 stars or 1 star. This should raise suspicion. After reading several, the one star reviews were much, much, much similar to the reality of my experience. read more
