If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do not shop here, only because the store manager and owner Alex was very inappropriate and rude. As well , as due to his extremely racist and strange behavior to my relative and I. I do like the employees, they behave well and are friendly and helpful. Although, the person who runs the place Alex behaved strangely and in an inappropriate matter. It is upsetting that there is a strange business owner like this in the lovely neighborhood of Woodside. Highly upset that a strange person like this manages a store in my friendly and great neighborhood. The local business owners of NYC and Queens usually never behave this way. I have been coming here for years. So this review was overdue. The guys working here know their product,, they are professional and extremely helpful. Yesterday I was at the store and Tony the manager helped me a particular paint. He worked me on the exact finish and what made sense for the application. Even though the store had many people inside waiting to get product but he took his time with me and did not rush. Anyhow if you are looking to paint and don't know what type of paint to buy this place is the giro place. Highly recommend it. read more

Decided to try Home Depot first this time since I have a credit card with them. Big mistake. We left and were on our way to Gleason within minutes. A local hardware/paint shop which offer a bit of everything. From paint, tools, chalking, and so on. Everyone who works here are very friendly and knowledgeable. Once in a while when I am trying to tackle a project, I usually know what to do. I would ask them some questions anyway about what I would need. I get solutions from them and what we discuss makes a lot of sense to me. They really know what they are talking about. I only know about this place from my dad because I used to come here with him all the time when I was younger to pick up paint supplies and other items he needed for his projects. There are a couple of people there who has worked at this place for years and they still remember my dad. They charge reasonable prices plus offer delivery. How can you beat that. I can order six cans of paint plus supplies and I would get everything the next day. I would rather give my business to Gleason Paints then to other large warehouse stores. read more

Came here while killing some time waiting for the car to get done, looking for paints. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They have all the top of the line Benjamin Moore paint and can mix any color from any collection to get what you want. They really know their stuff and gave us some good recommendations. read more

I am a professional contractor and have lived in NYC for over 50 years and I'm here to tell you that this is the last store of its kind. I asked for flat paint for some metal gates, the clerk showed me a chart of the paint they were pushing, didn't have what I wanted but the clerk said this PAINT IS NOT THAT GLOSSY. It turned out to be too glossy, returned to the store the clerk recanted on his recommendation, I insisted he said it was not that glossy, this is old man comes out of the back ground asking WHAT DO YOU WANT and to stop arguing... I wanted my money back he rudely instructed the clerk to return the money. WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE EVER AGAIN, WITH THIS TYPE OF customer service no wonder they are a dying breed... I went to this store hoping someone would help me find an acrylic paint. I needed a lot of them for a project. I asked the guy in the counter politely where I could find it, the guy just pointed and said "All the way in the back." When I went to where he was pointing I didn't find it. I was left by myself trying to look for it. I decided to just go to another store. Too bad for them, they just lost a customer that could have made their sale of the day. I've been going to this store since I was a toddler. My Father would take me there when it was time to paint our apartment. I've been there many times over the course of my life and it's still the same Mom and Pop shop type of feel with old timers that actually know what they're talking about. If you ask them any questions about any type of paint or paint related product they know. They are old school. You would never get this type of service or knowledge at Home Depot or other places. Trust me, go there and experience it for yourself. It's cool just looking at all the merchandise they have there. It's a one of a kind store that you just can replicate anymore.
