I learned about golf, the swing, having manners/being polite to fellow golfers (i.e. be quiet when someone is hitting, allow people to play through if you're playing slow, making friendships, etc....) and sportsmanship. He put the love of the game and confidence in me (along with loving the 69 Mets and fishing off the Jetty at the base of the Throgs Neck Bridge) to achieve anything. I felt like I was 7 yrs old again this morning during my lesson with Rick. Rick's passion for the game, his teaching knowledge and techniques, along with his ability to positively "listen" and communicate back to me; why you do, what you need to do , to correct and understand your swing. Ricks true passion and understanding of the golf swing, along with his initiative, communication skills (including his listening skills) and ability to have you understand the game and your swing is legendary. Rick is patient and professional and has an insight into working on improving your golf game by recognizing your weaknesses and working on them. Being a beginner, I knew I was bad and Danny sure didn't hold back in reminding me of that!…read more From the very beginning, Danny seemed impatient and easily irritated, almost as if he didn't want to be there. His instructions were often difficult to understand and he'd get annoyed when I'd ask clarifying questions. The lessons involved presenting rather difficult concepts in whole (e.g. the entire golf swing), and then observing my attempts at it. Each mistake was met with visible frustration, putting me in a constant state of unease, which felt counterproductive to the learning process. In moments when I could have used guidance, he'd let out a big sigh or resort to periods of silence, increasing my anxiety and self-consciousness. His reactions were so harsh that I found myself constantly apologizing for making the slightest of mistakes. During the second lesson (of my life btw!), he actually yelled, "Oh my God" in frustration after I missed a shot. Talk about a confidence killer! I couldn't believe that a PGA pro that was being paid to teach would have that kind of a reaction to a total beginner missing a shot. The fact that I miss shots was the very point of why I was taking lessons in the first place! Plus, it was super embarrassing as there were many people around us. Ultimately, Danny's tendency to respond rudely and condescendingly to my beginner-level mistakes was deflating, and led to a decrease in my motivation to practice and continue learning with him. Although I prepaid for 5 lessons, after the second one, I was done. Despite the financial loss, the thought of enduring another session was more agonizing. I was excited to start learning golf, this was supposed to be a way to unwind and have fun. Regrettably, and despite the positive reviews, this was not my experience. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I felt like I had to let people know what they might be getting into, especially since his lessons aren't cheap. I really hope Danny can take this feedback into consideration and change the way he teaches to be more supportive to us golf newbies.

My Kiwanis group has been having our golf outing here for many years and I have really gotten a feel for just how special this course is to be on and part of. Our outing is usually a 12pm shotgun and we fill up all the holes with foursomes. This comes after a beautiful breakfast then some time on the driving range. I don't play but I am always there with my camera as the official photographer. They do such a great job for our breakfast buffet. Plenty to choose from and all fresh and tasty food. Once the golfers hit the links you can always see and hear what an excellent course this is. It is very challenging, well maintained. They refer to it as a golfer's "golf course." The holes are challenging and fun. The greens and fairways are very well maintained and there are always plenty of rangers on the course helping to keep the golfers moving along. After a day of golf, we have a gala cocktail hour and dinner. We have been coming here for many years and they have always presented a beautiful evening for us. Great food, wonderful service and a comfortable venue with a beautiful view. I know many people who have either got married or celebrated a personal milestone here... everyone happy with the event. After a few swings Marc was able to diagnose the main issue with the swing and make the proper adjustment. They were able to work through irons, driver and sand wedge within the hour and he is excited to put the revamped swing to use on the course. He also particularly loved the screen that you hit into and the type of data you are able to derive from it (angle of contact, open vs closed club face, etc.). It was easy to see how the adjustment translated into better data and better contact. Now he is excited to put what he learned to use on the course.

I began taking lessons with Marc about three months ago. I have played golf casually my entire…read morelife, but never really got into it seriously until recently. I really wanted to improve my game and was getting frustrated with how inconsistently I was hitting the ball, even though I would work hard to hit the range on a weekly basis. Marc started me out with the basics, teaching me to improve minor things in my swing. He never stressed getting things right the first time, but rather getting me to a point where I could start playing consistent golf and start scoring. As the lessons wemt on, I could feel my swing start to gradually change and fill out more. It was a beautiful thing to experience. After four lessons and a good deal of practice on the concepts Marc has taught me, I am now scoring on the golf course better than I would have ever imagined (from 105s to 88s). My drives are straight and my irons are more accurate than they've ever been, with very consistent, pure contact. This was by far the best decision I could have ever made for my golf game, and I strongly recommend Marc to anyone that wants to learn the right mechanics of swinging a club and wants to finally iron out that nasty slice!
