We love Dr. Roerig! He has been taking care of our dogs for the last 20 years. He has always steered us right and is truly a no frills Vet. You won't get sold something your pet doesn't need or loaded up with a bunch of medications. If he suggests something to you, it's because your pet really needs it. He will talk options with you and make sure you understand, but ultimately leaves it up to you. He has gone above and beyond for us on several occasions and we couldn't be more grateful!! The doctors take a conservative approach to treatment, without compromising your pets quality of life. We have had instances where the issue has been more complex or we felt the pets needed more immediate action and have taken them to a specialty vet, but for a first stop, basic assessment and straight up diagnosis, this is always our first choice. Significantly less expensive than some of the bigger practices in the area as well. read more

Glen Manor Vet is very convenient, and I believe they are quite competent. I took my cat here for a checkup and evaluation. My cat is not typically a friendly type, but they were very good at managing her and the analysis and shots went well. I also buy cat treats and fresh eggs here. read more

Dr Roerig is an uncommon vet. By that, I mean he is compassionate beyond what other vets will demonstrate. How so? Here is an example: When my border collie was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I was told quite coldly that he should be euthanized. I wanted a second opinion. I sought Dr Roerig's opinion and he seconded the diagnosis. However, he did so with kind words, a philosophical explanation, and with the greatest care and understanding I've ever witnessed. He was treating me more than my beloved partner. I left not with hope but with love. I know my partner will depart very soon; yet, I now feel a comfort that was not there before Dr Roerig's kindness. There is nothing happy about saying goodbye except when we fully feel that the love never parts, and in that love lives a life that never ends. read more

If I could make this a zero star rating I would. To say I am upset and disappointed in this vet is an understatement. I HIGHLY urge those considering working with them to reconsider if they care for the well being of their pet. Below is a letter I sent that the vet staff had an opportunity to respond to; however, they have not. DO NOT bring your beloved pet to them. February 12, 2021 "Dear Dr. Phillip Roerig of Glen Manor Veterinary Hospital, I am writing to you in regards to my recent visit with my puppy Grizzly on February 12, 2021 at your veterinary practice. It was our first time to your practice after learning about many positive reviews and having you come highly recommended. It is with great disappointment that I am writing to you not with another fabulous review but a horribly disappointed one. I was initially grateful for the opportunity for my husband and I to be able to enter the building together during Covid-19 to join our 14-week-old puppy for his visit to a new place with a new veterinarian. Unfortunately, I was very, very wrong. At your practice it appears that you believe "Your pet's health and well-being is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible care;" however, that was far from the case. I inquired about my puppy being cryptorchid and was looking for a professional opinion about a possible location of one of his testicles. At one point during this part of the exam, you stated "Where did the other one (already descended testicle) go?" in which I believe was the moment you repositioned the descended testicle back into his abdomen. The upset that happened following this was even worse than I could have imagined. You proceeded to be persistent in your attempts to find the other testicle that caused my 14-week-old puppy such discomfort that to my horror after returning home you had bruised his inner thighs and abdomen (pictures for proof attached). During this examination, you decided to place my puppy on his side for better positioning and after my puppy innocently mouthed your arm trying to state the pain you must have been causing him (as any animal let alone young puppy would as a natural response to pain/discomfort) you proceeded to force him to lay down on his side and not get up until he "calmed down." This event took place for well over 5 minutes as my husband and I watched on stunned in horror about what you were doing to our 14-week-old puppy. You kept calling him "big dog" and telling him he had to calm down as you had to position your own body over his to hold down his struggling 56 pound body. He was scared and hurt and simply wanted to be released from the position you were forcing him to be in. You state that you provide "first rate pet care...we make our clinic comfortable," I can confidently say my husband, my puppy nor myself were comfortable at all. I will admit we did not ask you to stop; we were paralyzed by our shock of this situation and unsure how to proceed for fear that you would continue to take it out on our puppy if we were to say anything to our immense discomfort. All while you were hovering over my 14-week-old, 56 pound puppy forcing him to lay calm on your hard table, you were talking about how us as owners will need to be "careful not to assert dominance" when you were doing just that over our puppy. On your website you offer "a number of resources for you to learn how to take better care of your pets," well this is not the type of advice or resource I would ever want to receive from a "trusted professional." I also did not come to your practice to receive BARBARIC training advice let alone have it enacted on my puppy right in front of me. After what seemed like an eternity, you let my puppy up out of the forced position and we could not wait to get out of your office. To reference what I stated above and the photo attached, once we returned home that evening, it only took a matter of a couple hours to noticed bruising forming on the areas where you applied unnecessary pressure to search for his testicle. I know I am not a veterinarian but I do know you take an oath for non-maleficence and I do believe you caused unnecessary harm to my puppy. No animal, let alone a 14-week-old puppy, new to your practice and life experiences at a vet should EVER receive bruising from an "exam." Upon returning home, Grizzly was exhibiting stress symptoms and exhausted from his unfortunate encounter with you. I am appalled by our experience and horrified of the thought of what could have happened if we had not been able to be in your office during the exam. Again, to reference your website, you state "At Glen Manor Veterinary Hospital, we treat your pets like the valued family members they are." If how you treated my puppy during his very first visit to your office is how you treat other animals, including your own, I am deeply concerned. Needless to say, we will absolutely not be returning to your practice." read more

I've been through a plethora of Vets with various animals and this here is hands down the best. They take a very conservative and real approach to treating your dog. No unnecessary fishing expeditions when your pet is sick just a straightforward and honest opinion and recommendation. Dr. Roerig has an excellent bedside manner for the animals and talks to you in a real dialogue so you understand everything. I cannot say enough great things about the staff here especially after they made a house call for me and my family when my 175# mastiff needed to be laid to rest. I didn't want to drag her into a cold office where she despised to be (and frankly we physically really couldn't) and they so lovingly and respectfully came into my home and took care of everything in the most compassionate way. I was beyond grateful for them and will continue to take any pets of mine here even if I moved further. read more

Where to start well I went to work and my friend had let my dog out to go to the bathroom at 9am.. for some reason he forgot to let him in and went to work. My dog was out all day and stayed around the house , then around 3 he must of wondered off and a gentleman called so this places animal control was called to get my dog by the state police.. I had noo idea, I came home and couldn't find my dog I was worried sick hes NY best friend. I called a few places then the police who told me this place had picked up my dog which I was so relieved. When I got there let me tell you I dont need to be treated like a horrible dog owner or piece of trash when something wasn't my fault.. these people ought to be ashamed of themselves for giving me a hard time about why my dog dosnt have a leash on or who let's there dog freely out with none around.. I explained to them and still just an attitude.. places like this should watch what they say and how they treat ppl.. lastley if your miserable on what you do maybe you should quit your job.. who treats people so nasty especially when my dog is my most important thing I have.. read more
